An ideal venue only a stone’s throw from the heart of OSU’s campus Fred Beekman Park has a lot to offer campus and the nearby community. The park contains a number of playing fields for baseball, football, soccer, etc. They also have volleyball and basketball courts that have open playing times throughout the day. The park is also surrounded by a paved track(approximately 1 mile/loop). It’s great for walkers/joggers/runners. Many people walk their dogs around the loop too. All in all, it’s a beautiful, well-maintained place with fountains, lots of active people, and an excellent view of the city/campus.

Beekman Park is part of The Ohio State University’s Rec Sports offerings. It is a pretty park located in the west part of the Columbus campus. There’s a lovely fountain in the pond out front, which adds a nice touch when you are working out on the paved jogging/walking trail. There are two additional ponds to pass by too. There are also a variety of sports fields here — rugby, basketball, baseball, sand volleyball and the like, plus two picnic shelters with grills and restrooms. When the park is staffed, there are also folks to provide assistance near the sand volleyball. Lighting is also provided to some of the fields during prescribed times, plus on the jogging trail. Times are available on their website. Staffing times change when the university is on breaks and holidays. Lots of events are held here, including charity walks and runs and leagues. I visited for an organized event, and it was a great location. Very pretty, staff was friendly, bathrooms were clean. Like most places on campus, the only hassle is parking, as it is still subject to all of the usual parking restrictions and regulations. If you are coming from elsewhere on campus, you can skip that bother by using a North or South Campus Loop CABS bus(it’s free to ride).
