I have flagged this on Unilocal as being closed but the admins are not looking at it or simply not accepting it. I went to Encore three times, since it opened, and this was SEVERAL years ago. Please, keep in mind, that Encore has been open, at the most, four to five times a year. Yes, I’m not exaggerating. If you think I am, drive by anytime — especially when it should be busy: Friday or Saturday. They are never open. Oddly enough, someone went to the trouble to construct a brand new sign to hang on the building saying how they, indeed, are open. Like I said, the sign shows that they don’t care, otherwise you wouldn’t spend money advertising that you are open only to NEVER be open. Look, I get only having odd hours, kind of like the recently closed Ruth Chris’ Steak House had, but Encore is open 0.05% of the year. From what I can tell, some companies or wealthy individuals somehow contact the owner of Encore and they will throw some sort of private party. That is what you see about three times a year at this location. Being open only three Saturdays a year, seems to indicate to me that it’s a private gig going on… otherwise who in the world would even know that it’s open and go? When I went to Encore, it was an okay experience. As others have said(several years ago) Encore couldn’t seem to figure out what they wanted to be: a dance club or a bar. Out of the three times I was there, the dance floor was totally empty. Not until my friends got on the dance floor and started to dance, would anyone even dance. And that’s the issue with a place like this(when it was open): you have twenty or thirty people all standing around tables or the bar drinking and no one is going to the dance floor when it’s already empty. Dancing is way more fun when it’s not a totally empty dance floor with twenty or thirty others glaring at you while you dance. When this place was open, they would have been wise to pay some young people to be on the dance floor in order to encourage others to do the same. Their Facebook page was dead for quite some time and someone new has been making the bi-monthly updates(the last one was January, 2016) indicating that they would open for one day for a special event. Oh well… I’m just here to let people know that this placed isn’t open and in the«once in a blue moon» that it is, it’s for some type of special event. Lastly: look at the most recent reviews for this on Unilocal. It’s from 2014! It’s currently March 2016.

I went here last night for a fundrager they were throwing. Which seemed to be for a fairly random cause, something to do with burning man I believe. Which isn’t really anything I’d consider a worthwhile cause to throw my money at, but I wanted to see some of the performances that were being touted by the Circus Burlesque theme. The night really was kind of meh… The space is a fair bit smaller then what I would expect out of a night club, and a previous reviewer had it right– they don’t seem to know if they are a nightclub with a cool bar, or a bar that happens to have a dance floor nearby. I honestly skipped the drinks, as the bartenders were very unhelpful with my friend– having not previously been there, and not knowing what they had. They had no drink menu, and weren’t really willing to offer suggestions either based on what he knows he liked. So he had to play a half-hearted game of 20 questions to get a drink from them. The dance floor looked alright, though with the DJ of the night down on it, instead of up in the loft area above it kind of wasted some space. Though that could have just been for the event… They had quite a few performers, more then half of which were fire spinners of a sort, and outside of course due to permits. So its good to see a club paying attention to safety regulations and not just trying to be sneaky about that kind of thing. The aerial and pole performers were great, and the stilt walkers they brought in were as well. However the place was CROWDED all to hell. If you weren’t willing to literally steal someone’s seat at one of the like six tables that were not up for bottle service for the night you would never have a chance to sit down. That’s probably why most people were just sloshing their drinks around as they grooved on the dance floor. Grooving being polite for the grinding and twerking that most people seem to do these days do the HUGELYPOUNDINGBEATS that the DJ was spinning at ear-bleeding levels. All in all, it was a decent event, but I don’t think I’d have a reason to ever come back here. That and I don’t like the jacked up cover charges… All of the promo materials for the event never bothered to list a cover charge. Though a single comment on the event’s Facebook page listed it as $ 5. Which apparently only applies if you have breasts. If you’re a guy, guess what– you get to pay double. Not that you’d know that until you walk in. Another reason I don’t think I’ll come back. Real clubs don’t shaft one gender over the other.
