So El Volcan is as real as it gets in Columbus if you like popular Mexican music(Pasito duranguense, tejano, narco corridos, banda, etc) and then there’s a smaller reggaeton/bachata/merengue room. The bar only has Mexican beer and water, maybe coke. I don’t recommend coming here as a tourist. You need to know people who frequent here or are bilingual. I’ve seen a bunch of fights break out here and you run the risk of having your car windows broken while you are inside. I guess the best way to think of it is like a Mexican cowboy club. I’ve been to alot of concerts here and seen really popular acts within this musical genre. Plus Maxim Magazine rated the taco stand outside as one of the best in America and I gotta agree with them it is tasty. Sometimes there’s drag queen shows that come through, and there are Latina transvestites that hang out here. Shrug, just another crazy place in Columbus I suppose. Entrance is 10.00 except when there are concerts then you could end up paying 60 at the door. Friday night is not very crowded, but it gets pretty live on Saturdays.
