Loved this place. Good bang for your buck. Nothing fancy, but I love how it embraces the local neighborhood. There is a lot of Grandview paraphernalia decorating the interior. I got the donut burger, which wasn’t as good as I was hoping — way too greasy. But, that’s a novelty. Most of the other food we got was excellent(for a greasy diner) and I felt like we got a good experience for our money. I liked the self-serveIf I lived in the neighborhood, I think this would be a regular destination for me.

Great food, fun friendly staff. This is quickly becoming a favorite. Donuts to die for. Patio looks cute can’t wait to come back in warm weather. Check it out!

This place came highly recommended and it was not good. Hash browns tasted old. The bacon was really bad. I didn’t even finish the bacon and believe me. I LOVE bacon. My omelette was just average. My boyfriend didn’t care for his meal either. I don’t have an intention of returning anytime soon, but I think the atmosphere is fun and we did have good service. Maybe we will have a better experience next time?

I can’t believe we don’t come here more often! The food is delicious. It is perfectly prices. They have a pretty wide variety of beers available. And their Bloody Mary is served with a bacon-wrapped tator tot… How could you go wrong? I’m definitely putting his place in my rotation, and going to go above and behind to make it here more often than I have in the past! This place is a fantastic gem in Grandview!

My rating based only on their donut game. If you just want a simple glazed donut, cheap and nothing fancy, then this is your stop. I don’t really mind driving alllll the way down 3rd ave to get here, but it’s so worth it. Be nice and buy a dozen or so – TOSHARE, of course… It’s a small joint tucked away. Limited seats, but man it sure feels greasy and homey aka your perfect lil diner. So come for your daily donut!

My home on the weekends. Walk right in and get your own coffee or drink. Pick out a donut and wait for a table. Lovely outside seating. No frills, nothing fancy. Just great, cheap hangover comfort food. I like the breakfast burrito.

Very tasty meal, good service and reasonable prices. I had the biscuits and gravy along with the loaded potatoes and a blueberry donut all were very good. Would def return. The bloody Mary that walked by looked great too.

Consistent, cheap diner fare. Breakfast options are all good, but if you’re in a hungover lunchy mood, indulge your inner seven year old and go for the chicken fingers and fresh cut fries. Apparently the doughnuts are great, but I’m always there too late and they’re all gone, or I’m too full from my meal.

I love that the DK Diner is open for dinner now. I tend to do most of my feeding after the sun goes down so that 2PM close time wasn’t doing me any favors. When a breakfast-for-dinner craving hits this is usually a solid choice for some great food, but lately it’s been a little hit or miss. I’ve had the most amazing breakfast sandwich here(I’m talking about you, Dana) and I’ve left wondering if the cook has ever seen an egg before. My most recent meal here included 3 strips of perfectly crisp bacon and 2 sunny side up eggs with clear, slimy, undercooked whites on top(«I’m tired of eatin’ sloppy, slimy eggs!”~Jesco White). You’d think a breakfast joint would have perfected the SSU egg prior to its owners thinking«Hey! We should open up a breakfast joint!». My husband joked that the burning smell wafting from the kitchen was most definitely his food only to find that the sausage nestled in his otherwise tasty skillet was black and crispy, as if he wouldn’t notice(the gravy is awesome but it isn’t good enough to cover that up, guys, c’mon! Sloppy sloppy!). The apple fritter I snagged for dessert looked softball-like and promising but ended up being raw in the middle and honestly not even remotely good if you avoided the doughy bits. While I’ve definitely had some crappy meals here, the good ones are the reason I keep coming back. Assuming the cook is on his game, you’re in for a treat. Be sure to wear your stretchy pants and keep your fingers crossed.

The Donut Kitchen Diner of course does donuts well. Long john’s, sour cream, crullers: all exceptionally well-made. The price is okay too. The biggest downfall is the crowd. Unless you get there well before 8AM, you are going to be staring down a line of people. And the seating is limited and clearly not suited to the popularity of the place. That means that relaxing and enjoying a coffee and a donut while reading is a non-option, especially on the weekends. Plus the door is sometimes stuck ajar and leaves the whole store drafty. The coffee is okay. Not great, but I won’t knock off a star for that.

DK Diner is a classic place in Grandview, nestled right in the middle of a residential area, which is really cute and everything but it creates a major lack of parking options. On a Sunday morning around 11:30AM, we had to park a few blocks away on the street. Once we got up to the diner and put our name in, the hostess said something about a drink station, so we wandered aimlessly until we found coffee at a counter outside. It was really disorganized, with cream in a refrigerator that you take out and pour yourself, and a tiny little spot to stir your coffee. With about 10 people swarming to get drinks at once, I ended up spilling hot coffee all over my hands, so that wasn’t the greatest. After that, we still had to wait for our table, so we decided to join the other groups who were sitting throughout the tiny parking lot, sitting on the curb, leaning up against the fence. I wish they had more room for people to wait, because I felt strange sitting on concrete trying to enjoy my coffee. After about 25 minutes though, the wait was over and we went inside to get a table. We ordered right away and I chose an original pancake and a side of loaded hashbrowns, which totaled $ 7. One of my friends ordered a Bloody Mary which looked cool because it came with a skewer of bacon covered tater tots! But she said it didn’t have much spice to it at all and wasn’t her favorite. Finally, our food arrived and I was disappointed with the portion size on my side of potatoes. The pancake was kind of awesome because it was made of donut batter, but other than that I wasn’t overly impressed. I also decided that I needed to try one of their donuts on my way out, but when I got up to the counter I was told they were sold out of most kinds for the day :(I decided a boring plain donut wasn’t worth the calories, so I left donut-less. I am willing to try DK Diner again, but it won’t be my first choice. You can get the same quality food at Bob Evan’s, First Watch, or really any breakfast place and chances are you won’t have to wait as long.

I took my friend to DK Diner yesterday when she came into town. I thought the place was great, with decent menu prices. I would definitely go there again. I ordered the Donut Sandy, it was a combination of sweetness from the donut and meaty from the bacon as well as eggs. If your looking for something with good food and good prices this is a great place to go.

Prepare for the crowds. Went at 9 am on a Sunday hoping to get a few donuts before church– 45 minutes later we were able to take ours to go. The lines are inefficient and the place is very crowded. My donut was pretty good– although I’ve definitely had much better. Will I be back? I am sure… However, my experience made me wish«Strange Donuts» or «Donut Drive-in» in Saint Louis, MO would consider letting me franchise. Columbus desperately needs more donut shops

Still has great donuts and good prices for tasty dishes. I used to frequent DK diner about 5 – 6 years ago. I had friends who lived in the area, and we’d go out drinking the night before, then drag ourselves down the street for breakfast around 10 am on Sunday. Back then, the restaurant was small, with no extended patio and no long wooden tables in the center of the floor. Occasionally, you had to wait for a table if you didn’t make it in before 10am on Sunday, but otherwise there wasn’t a wait. They had that crappy burnt diner coffee of nondescript origins, that you drank out of mismatched coffee mugs. Welcome to 2015, and I returned to DK after a long hiatus for a brunch date with friends. WHATHAPPENED to my hidden jem? I’m happy when a local place starts making more money, but this place has definitely lost some of what made it so great. It’s utter chaos inside now; you still have to fetch your own drinks, but now there are so many people milling about that it’s tough to get to the coffee without bumping into someone. They do have Crimson Cup Coffee now, so that’s pretty cool. There are more seats outside on the patio, and a long wooden table along the middle where you sit next to random people. I get it that they can serve more patrons now, but it was madness inside and we still had to wait 20+ minutes for a seat. The food is still basically the same, and they have brunch cocktails and beer now. The donuts are just as tasty as I remembered. Honestly? I don’t want to deal with the craziness of eating here anymore. I would still pop in for a donut and coffee if I’m in the area.

First timer right here! I’ve been eyeing this place for a long time, but because of the reviews talking about how crowded it usually is, I’ve decided to avoid it. After Pride was rained out this past weekend, I was looking to try something new but wanted to stay in the area because of the weather, and I thought 2 pm in the afternoon would be a great time to check this place out and avoid the rush! Well, it was definitely a great time to go minus the fact that we basically had to ford the Third Avenue river in order to get there. The place was mostly empty, and we had our orders taken pretty quickly. I know a lot of people don’t like the serve yourself drinks, but I’m a big fan of it. I guess if it was really busy I could see it being a problem. I had heard some good things about the Italian sub, so I had to try it out, and I swapped out the chips with some fries, since I’m such a health nut. The food was out quickly, and I could already tell by the look that it was going to be delicious. I wasn’t wrong. That was one of the best Italian subs I’ve had in Columbus with crispy bread and a tasty oil/vinegar combination. Now I’m eager to try the rest of the menu. I couldn’t possibly leave without getting one of the famous doussants, so I grabbed one to go. I had to try that thing immediately when I got home, and it was of the most amazing donuts I’ve had. It just melted in my mouth. I wish I had ordered more. I almost wish I hadn’t tried that donut, because now I’ll have to get one whenever I’m there. I may stick to the off hours in order to ensure a seat, but if not, I saw that you can call in to get food to go, so that may be my next option. If only I had tried out this place sooner.

This is the type of place that I wish every neighborhood could have, a great diner with a variety of options that all are pretty well made. The donuts are the staple of course and there are a few dishes that incorporate donuts into the dish, that type of dish is not really for me since I don’t like to mix sweet and savory. But a good donut after a your meal is always welcome. When I visited I tried the Patty Melt and this was pretty good but not very special. The second time I visited though I ordered the Spicy Black Bean Veggie Burger and this was something worth ordering. It came topped with guacamole and the smooth guacamole combined with the patty was a great combination of textures and flavors. This is one of the better veggie burgers that I have had and I think that only the Northstar Café Veggie Burger tops this burger. I love wings and decided to give them a try and I chose the honey habanero sauce, I loved the sauce and the quality of the meat was great. I could probably split an order of 5 wings with a friend alongside our meals and be very full and happy.

This is certainly not the fanciest place, but the best place to cure a hangry hangover. It’s kind of a cluster-you-know-what. But it comes with the territory of being one of the most popular places. First. Donuts. That’s all. They’re imperfectly perfect. I ordered a traditional sour cream glazed. So moist and cakey and perfectly donuty. Second. Bloody Marys. Perfectly spicy. And it comes with bacon-wrapped tater tots. BACONWRAPPEDTATERTOTS. What I ordered: MYO breakfast Sammie. It was just what I wanted and it was delicious. I also ordered a side of sausage and gravy with biscuits. The biscuits weren’t those fake flakey things that leave a weird slime in your mouth, they were actual bread. The sausage gravy was a little light on the sausage and texture for me but tasty nonetheless. What the boyfriend ordered: the skillet.(See photo). It was a great mix of manly breakfast foods and oh so tasty. It’s a lot of food and needs a little hot sauce. So come hungry(the more hungover the better) The drinks are self-serve which is kind of inconvenient but it speeds up the process Also, be prepared to wait and don’t come with more then 4. I loved this place and I will return for breakfast.

I finally went to DK Diner after who knows how long of living here(I’ve lived in Columbus two separate times so, those numbers get fuzzy sometimes). And my reaction is basically«mehhhhh». What I did like: + My doughnut was tasty. + My server was nice, though not enough to do backflips over. … Yeah, that’s about all I was enthusiastic about. From the moment some crochety old guy yelled at me to «close the door!» while telling someone how many in my party(sorry old dude, I couldn’t get IN the door to close it), my experience at DK Diner was just a little. off. I would just like to say first that self-serve drinks are a TERRIBLEIDEA when you’re not a spacious restaurant. Having to climb over patrons and people waiting in line to pay(another terrible idea in a crowded restaurant – look, if you’re short on space, the only people who should be running around everywhere are servers, mkay?) to get a cup of coffee for myself and one for my husband and then trying to keep from spilling it all over myself on the way back to my table was the worst. I didn’t even attempt to get a refill. This was not a meat-eating occasion so, my pickin’s from the menu were a bit slim. I ended up having a deluxe grilled cheese(hold the bacon) and my husband had a doughnut burger, because… idk, doughnut burgers seem to be something you should try one time in your life. My food was aight, kinda skimpy. His burger was too sweet, it needed an egg or something else to round it out. Our chips seemed house-fried and were a little… uncrisp. You know how they get when they sit out and get sorta soft. I dunno. I mean, it’s not the worst – I’d go here over Grill and Skillet in my own neighborhood – but it definitely has room for improvement.

Place can be a bit overwhelming, be prepared to wait during peak times, but the hostess & staff have their S&ht together so it goes pretty smoothly. Because of the very small parking lot, you’ll probably have to park on the street so be prepared to roam. The coffee was decent, and the food awesome. I was able to experience the donut breakfast sandwich & the cheesy hashbrowns. It’s a donut sandwich, I shouldn’t have to say anymore. The hashbrowns were my favority though. Thankfully someone already posted on Unilocal about how things worked at the Diner. Due to the space & how busy it is, you retrieve your own beverages, which Im totally ok with, & ach tabled is «numbered», you have to go up to the counter when done with your meal & tell them your table number & pay that way. It actually does make things a bit more easier. Since I came out of my food coma, I will definitely be going back but having something a little bit more healthy, like the donut hamburger…

A college-y dining atmosphere — inexpensive, busy, slightly confusing, and yummy in my tummy! A great place for a hefty breakfast for not a hefty price. Plus, they have donuts for dining in or to go! The biggest drawback is that the place is always crowded, which obviously means it’s good. Everyone wants to be there. And, since everyone wants to be there, there is quite a bit of confusion among customers. Where do I go? How do I get a table? How do I not get run over by a waitress juggling three trays? To ease these common first-timer fears, here are a few tips for the ultimate diner dining experience at DK: 1) Find the waitress with the notepad — She holds the power to seat you, but sometimes she is tricky to find during peak times. Get on the list! 2) You probably will have to wait so grab yourself a drink — It’s self-serve for beverages. Drunk up! 3) Go outside and stay out of people’s way — When it’s cold, you can sit by the outdoor heaters. 4) The waitress is only in control of your food order and delivery — Keep refilling that unlimited beverage. 5) When you are done eating, go to the register — They have your bill waiting. Don’t worry though, it’s surprisingly cheap! 6) Order a donut before you leave — Afternoon treats are the best! Mmm!
