It looks like this place is closed for good… they have been moving all the kitchen stuff out in the last few days and have taken the sign down.

this location used to be Banana Bean Café which had the most amazing breakfast food(roasted corn & blueberry pancakes w/marscapone, bananas foster french toast, etc) and they merged with Coyote Jane taking on their name, combining menu’s and residing in this space. I went on a Friday night with some friends and we were the only people there from 6:30 — 8pm. They still had our breakfast favorites on the menu so we got them but they were mediocre with the exception of the lobster hash which was really good. The service was dreadful which was odd since we were the only ones there. Sadly the Banana Bean of old is gone… regardless of some of their items being on the menu. the fabulous service, the consistently excellent food… gone. it’s a sad day Columbus.

We were told to give this place a try. I’d never been here or to I guess the old location? Man am I glad we went! We stopped in Fri night around 8 or 9. It looked like slow night… It’s kind of a strange location, but DIRECTLY across from the entrance to Berliner Park on Greenlawn Ave. Anywho, we we greeted as soon as we stepped in the door by the bartender and Alex, our server. This is a great start! We started with iced tea(which strangely, was probably the best iced tea I’ve ever had) and the nachos(not chips and salsa!)… The nachos were fresh and hot and crispy and covered with the freshest jalepenos, tomatoes, cheese, onions etc! They were kind of this beautiful work of art! I ordered a taco and the wild burro(burrito) because I’m sometimes afraid to try something random at a new place. GOODLORD! The burrito was like 2 Chipotle burritos fused together human centipede-style! I felt like a lardy butt having ordered the taco too! Both were excellent, the burrito in a very very different sort of way. The sauce on top was very sweet, but great! The whole thing kind of reminded me of a stuffed green pepper in a tortilla(flavor wise)! My bf got the Aberdeen based on the other Unilocal reviews. He agreed he’d never have tried it on his own… OMG! THATSANDWICHWASAMAZING! I found myself slightly disappointed that I hadnt’t ordered one too :( It was the juiciest pork I’ve ever seen… The fries were crispy on the outside & fluffy on the inside… And the coleslaw would put your grandmother’s to shame! Our server was also awesome! He was quick and friendly & on the refills. We too asked about one of the beers and were given a sample! That’s phenominal customer service! The bill came out to be about $ 30 which is pretty great considering we had 2 drinks, an appetizer &2 meals! I really really hope this place does well! The place was clean & unique! They also have Karaōke & Drag Queen Bingo which I CANNOT wait to experience!

This was the second time I’ve been to Coyote Jane’s and returned because of the awesome fries. The first time was when they first opened and we were the only people in the entire place. The server was kind and friendly and the food was great even if it did take a while to get to our table. I returned again recently and WOW! We walked in and waited a few minutes until someone noticed us at the door. We were told that they were only seating at the bar so to the bar we went. We sat for about 10 minutes before the bartender came to take our drink order and gave us menus.(There were only two others at the bar, the rest of the place was only half full). We came to eat, not drink so we ordered tea and water. After 15 minutes had passed after receiving our drinks and no one asking what we wanted to order, we happened to overhear a waitress telling a customer that they were no longer serving food. Okaaay. We asked the bartender after we got his attention if this was true, he said he didn’t know but would check. He came out and said that we could order. Strange because while we were waiting for him to find out, one of the waitresses turned 3 customers away saying they were out of food. So we ordered. And waited. And waited. And waited. Almost a half hour later my chicken sandwich came but my husband was told that they were out of salad and they were«working on» his burger. 5 minutes later, the bartender brought a salad and apologized for the error. He then brought out a hamburger, not the one ordered but a hamburger. My husband told him this isn’t what he ordered so the bartender took it back, then came back and said they were out of most of the ingredients that were supposed to on the burger. Husband said he’d just take it anyway and asked for utensils and ketchup. Again, we waited. We finally got to eat but in the meantime the waitress turned away another 3 customers by telling them that the kitchen was closed.(Keep in mind they had been open 2 ½ hrs when we arrived). The bartender took the«wrong burger» off the bill which was nice but the service here HAS to improve. Even though the bartender said they didn’t close until 12am(the kitchen at 10pm), the 2 waitresses sat down at the bar to add up their bills/tips out of view of any customers that may have been at the door. Again, WOW! Although the food is good(when you finally get it), I won’t be going back here until the service improves. Greatly.

This place is fantastic. The carnitas were amazing and so was the spicy burger with bleu cheese. The service was friendly and quick as well! As the others have said…“GONOW”!

Coyote Jane’s has turned things around for the better! I went Tuesday May 24th at 6:30 for dinner and had a great time! People who have tried Coyote Jane’s prior to May 2011, I URGE you to go back NOW! People who have not been to Coyote Janes’, but are nervous because of the reviews, GONOW! Our server was prompt, friendly, and passionate about the food! The server even let my dad try a sample of their Rogue draft to see if he’d like it. Love that! He was a cool guy! The food was much more prompt than before and just as amazing and delicious! Of course we ordered the tres queso(cheese sticks)($ 5) and they are seriously the best cheese sticks you’ll ever try and likely the most unique. Don’t pass them up! I ordered the carnitas($ 5) and they were mind blowing! They were like homemade pupusas stuffed with their great roasted pork. A must try! My boyfriend ordered the Aberdeen($ 8) after my near orgasm last time I had it and it was just as tasty this time around. Even though my carnitas were really really good, I wished I’d gotten the Aberdeen! Or maybe I should get both! My dad ordered some beef burrito with pickles in it and cheese sauce on top that really worked your taste buds. YUM! All this plus a Shiner Bock bottle for $ 31! Not to mention, the sound track they were playing was awesome. Totally 60 – 70’s rock. Only one problem… there was no one else there. So, people, get yourself to Coyote Jane’s, I NEED this place to stay open. I am considering becoming a regular here. It’s my kind of place!

The food was delish, loved everything we had which was chips and house salsa, pork burrito and an off the menu veggie burrito. The chef was accommodating and the service was okay but we did sit at the bar so I’d expect that. I would like to see more menu options, like sides of rice and beans. Prices were great too! Overall we really enjoyed it and will definitely go back!

I have nothing else to say but HORRIBLE service; actually the worst service that I have ever had. The one server that was on the floor was ABSOLUTELY incompetent. She told us that we were not allowed to order the signature drink because she was all alone and did not have time to make it. She finally came to take our drink orders and told us that she was only taking drink orders and that we could not order an appetizer that the same time. She never refilled water r soft drinks and never asked if we wanted a second drink. We each ordered salads and entrees plus a appetizer to share. She brought the app that was described as quaso dip and chips, but was actually cheese sticks. We were surprised that our entrees cam e out before our salads. When we asked about them, the server said«Well, you don’t want them now, do you?» The food was cheap and decent and had the service been even adequate, I may have tried this place again. I have no desire to go back here. I am not at all surprised that there is a connection to Banana Bean.

I have been to CJs several times now and find the food and the service slightly uneven. I now sit at the bar, which helps a lot. Last night I had the nachos, which are a screaming deal and pretty good. Homemade chips, lots of cheese, chilis, and beans(I’m vegetarian) and a huge, and I mean huge amount of them– enough for two as a main course. All in all if you can figure out what to order and sit at the bar it is a good food experience. They are about to open for brunch on Saturdays and I have high hopes. I think(just as it did at Banana Bean) it will take Robin a while to sort it out. The menu is evolving and if she can stay in business long enough I think that CJs will turn out to be a good eatery. Go and try the nachos at the bar(they also have a decent beer selection– including Magic Hat, which I love).

So conflicted on this one! I had high hopes for Coyote Janes, given the Banana Bean affiliation. But, like other Unilocalers, encountered the abysmal service. I’d read the other reviews but hoped that with time the kinks had worked out and things had improved. Sorry to report that’s not the case! Somewhat prepared for the service issues, it was actually kind of funny. From the complete lack of understanding of how to run the front of the house(no wait estimates, no check in list) to the complete confusion of the waitstaff(no knowledge of the menu, bringing out duplicate orders or the wrong items), to the mismanagement of their inventory(out of BOTH signature drinks by 7pm on a Friday, ran out of CHICKEN after we’d ordered)…this place is a disaster! I’d understand if it was super packed and for a new restaurant they couldn’t anticipate the demand but it wasn’t really busy at all! The place is also kind of odd — they could fit at least 3 more tables and there’s a weird fireplace armchair area in the dining room that is just a waste of space. I could go on, but you get the drift. The food we did get was great. Ditto on the cheese stix kudos! Had they had the chicken, I’m sure the burros are good. Hope the Banana Bean team makes some effort to improve! Location doesn’t help, so I’m sure a lot of their traffic will have to be WOM-driven.

Came for dinner tonight. The service was great, the food was good, and the drinks could have been a tad better. I had a frozen margarita which was just so-so. The fact that I must have hit them on happy hour made it better. It only cost me four bucks. I also had the Aberdeen sanwich. It consisted of pulled pork, slaw, and french fries all on the same roll. I was going to suggest to the chef that she try putting the fries on a separate plate but I didn’t. It’s a beautiful building, by the way.

Dear Coyote Jane’s, You’re like that hot mess friend that everybody has — the one who has loads of potential but keeps screwing everything up. I want to love you, and I want you to get better. Please take my feedback to heart. It’s not criticism. Just consider it advice from a friend who really wants you to succeed. The mister, the bestie, and I came in last night around 7pm for dinner. And yep, we entered through the wrong door. No biggee though, right? But nobody welcomed us. I had to ask a server what to do, and she told us just to have a seat wherever we wanted. Then, our server came over, and she was absolutely lovely! Seriously, she gets 5 stars. She was friendly, but not syrupy, sassy, but not bitchy, and made great recommendations. A+. For the rest of my review, I’ll simply use two lists: what I loved and what’s not so great. What I Loved: * The friendly, laid-back atmosphere * The servers! * The cheese sticks — super delicious! * The Aberdeen sandwich — amazing pork, french fries, cheese, and barbecue sauce! * Margarita — this was my friend’s drink, but it was delicious! * Food prices — super reasonable! What’s Not So Great: *Slow-ass service — Seriously, it took too long. Our dining experience took over 2 hours. We waited 20 minutes for the drinks, 30 minutes for the cheese sticks, and another 30 minutes for our food. I love that you’re making everything fresh, but learn how to get your prep on! * Watermelon Side Car — I had heard this was delicious, so I was super disappointed. I get that you grill your own watermelon for the drink, and that’s a great idea in theory. But tonight, the watermelon wasn’t good. It kinda tasted liked that salty shit you have to drink before a colonoscopy. EIther get really delicious watermelons or buy some delicious purée. * Drink prices — If you’re going to make people wait forever for food, at least give us some cheaper drinks to enjoy while we wait! At $ 8 or $ 9 a drink, we could only afford to have one! * The other food — None of my dining partners loved their food. Both of them said, «Eh, it was okay.» * The menu — GIrl, there are too many grammatical mistakes on your menu. Apostrophes in all the wrong places! I know this sounds petty, but it really can have a huge influence on the way your business is perceived. Even though my experience wasn’t great, I would still recommend that people give you a try! Love, Bryant

I checked out Coyote Janes the other night with my friend and was really impressed. Tried the Red Skin Spuds which were freshly made potato skins stuffed with cheese, crispy bacon and covered with sour cream and guacamole. They were very good. Also tried the Tres Con Queso Cheese which were spicy cheesesticks served with a red chile sauce. They were excellent and had a really nice kick to them. I love spicy foods. Also tried a Dalton Gang Burro at the suggestion of the server which was HUGE and decided to share it. It was filled with cilantro rice, black beans, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, guac and Red Coyote Sauce. We were so full we could hardly move. We talked to two of the servers who were incredibly personable and helpful with menu suggestions. They admitted the restaurant was new, still working out kinks and that a few things were unavailable due to a truck delivery the following day. But seriously, give it a try. I thought the food was great and the service was excellent. Only suggestion would be louder music and dimmer lighting.
