Best Mexican in town — food is awesome and service is always top notch. Prices are great and the margs are exceptionally. This is my go to spot.

I like some things about Chile Verde. The best thing is the margheritas. Excellent taste and really refreshing. The salsa is also very good. They have many different kinds. I thought the rest of the meal was not as memorable. The vegetable fajitas was pretty bland. It was also overpriced for the quality. Will come back here for the margaritas and cocktails.

My favorite Mexican restaurant by far! Best taco salad in town. They have quick, friendly service, the prices are reasonable, and the free salsa they give you when you’re seated is awesome.

Tried this place out based on the reviews and honestly. I’ll never go again. I guess it depends on your taste buds. Everything was rather bland to me. I had the enchiladas, queso and black beans and rice. Queso was OKAY, I’ve made better at home. It was spicy and bland at once. Rice was extremely bland. No taste at all. The enchiladas weren’t as expected. They came out nothing like what the waitress described. For the quality, the place is overpriced to me. I’ll pass.

I don’t think that I’ve ever been disappointed by Chili Verde, it had always delivered on both quality and price. For southwestern food in Columbus, it’s hard to beat. One of the keys to their success? Their sauces. Honestly. The freshness and flavor helps make the food stand out from other restaurants with a similar focus. Take the table salsa for example. This staple of average«Mexican» restaurants is more than a space filler here. It tastes bright, fresh, and… spicy. The namesake chili verde, featured on dishes such as the enchiladas, is also terrific. But it’s not just traditional salsas that they do well; the BBQ sauce is incredibly flavorful and most certainly tasty! Speaking of that BBQ sauce, it helps make the grilled burrito a stand out dish. Yum. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.(Of course, the presence of queso doesn’t hurt. ;-)) The combo platters are also a great deal. Just a two dish combination was a massive amount of food. I can only imagine if we had gotten three. We would have needed a bigger table!

It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten at Chile Verde and I regret that. This place is good! I see it as a step above Cuco’s, another popular restaurant in the area. While the prices are a little bit more than what you’ll find at Cuco’s, the quality, preparation and flavor of the food is better. I ordered a pick two combo for $ 11. I chose a crab cake and a tamale(beef). It came with a side of pinto beans and Mexican rice. The crab cake had a really nice crisp crust on the outside and a good amount of crab on the inside. It was served with a side of salsa, but I found it to be great undressed. For the tamales, I ordered it to be covered in one of their hot sauces and it was definitely hot! It was a lot of food and I thought the price was very reasonable. I enjoyed it all with a pitcher of the house special margarita. I will be back soon!

Hands down the best margaritas you can get in Columbus! Food is really good as well. Only reason I don’t give them five stars is I wish they did specials on there margaritas. They are a bit pricy, however, they are worth the money.

Would have given the place 4 stars but the crab cakes were all filler and no crab. Guac and fajitas were tasty though. Good amount of food, plenty of leftovers.

I wouldn’t recommend this place for anything other than a margarita and chips. Service was decent but it took 10 min for the server to notice me, the restaurant was nearly empty. I ordered the tequila chicken burrito. The rice tasted like it came out of a packet and the chicken and shrimp were over salted. The food was pretty over priced for the plate size and quality. The margarita was the only reason they got a 3 star from me. It was pretty«freaking» good and not a bad price at around $ 5. They don’t offer any specials! What the hell?! This just seems a bit arrogant to me… I have been living and dining in this area for over 20 years, my honest opinion is there is much more exciting places a sombrero toss away.

It is a lively and busy restaurant. Chip starters was not fresh and I didn’t quite like the salsa that came with. But the two main entrees that we ordered were delicious and generous in portions and ingredients. We had signature fajita(came with beef, shrimp, and chicken as well rice, lettuce, and tortillas; I would absolutely recommend this dish!) and BBQ grilled steak fajita burrito(tasted very delicious as well, a little spicy but made the dish extra tasty). For dessert, we got sopaipillas. It was my first time getting it but it turned out alright. It wasn’t anything too special and tasted just like fried doughs. It was served with honey and chocolate sauce. I feel like it would be tastier if they were to substitute the chocolate sauce with Nutella… probably won’t get this dessert again. Had a decent experience here and would consider return.

Santa Fe chicken and stake. This is so delicious. The marinade in the chicken and stake is incredible. The rice is one of the best around Columbus.

I came here to meet another Unilocaler for dinner yesterday and it was good but I felt maybe something was missing in the burrito. My Unilocaler friends recommended the BBQ burrito here but I just didn’t feel it. I think the BBQ sauce threw me off. I love fajitas so maybe I should have gone with the fajita combination. Plus the pictures of fajitas looked so appetizing. My Unilocaler friend loved her dish I heard. The tamale was just great she said, but she also knew how to speak more Spanish than me. The waitress we had loved speaking with her. The waitress was somewhat helpful with helping me order but I think it all depends on what you like and not what someone else likes. Everyone is different from each other. I will definitely be back because it was reasonably priced food here and definitely getting the fajitas next time. Even thinking about it makes me hungry right now!

Nope, nope and more nope. I stomached some courage to come back and try Chilie Verde, but their quality has just taken a turn for the worse. The only thing I could remotely recommend here is something with their spicy ground beef and covered in cheese, because anything else is just boring, bland, and pre-prepped to hell and back. Is anything cooked fresh here? I’m beginning to doubt and the fact that I have experienced much better at chain tex-mex in Columbus, which I totally fathom makes me angry to giving this place my patronage and them just shitting all over it. First off. the waitress. We were asked if we wanted any queso or guac. I said, «Sure. some queso sounds good.» We waited, waited… and waited… and waited some more. No Queso. My glass was also sitting empty… no refill. The waitress sure is losing points. We waited an excruciatingly long time for our food, which was clearly microwaved to hell and back, because of the«Hot plates» excuse. I ordered a Chimichanga, which came out soggy and just a mess. The plate looked about as appetizing as a pile of dried cat turds. Would taste prove me wrong? Hardly. The shredded beef inside was dry. It was like eating hair. There was no taste, and nothing, but dry, stringy texture. Three bites in and I was done. Their meat was clearly over cooked. They’re highly understaffed here, which in the past few times I have been here. we’ve been seated by management, so when we asked to speak to them… they were of course stuck up front for a few minutes. This experience was painful, and after the past couple experiences here… Something has gone terribly wrong for this restaurant. Someone is cheapening out somewhere, and it shows. It really fucking shows.

I took Unilocal goers suggestions & called for a «reservation». This is just a call ahead but they don’t correct you, so expect to still wait ~10min once there. Yes, the lobby is mini, but being our 1st time, it was worth the curiosity. Dining area was very well lit, bit noisy but tolerable. I prefer this décor than the vibrant colors of some other Mexican restaurants. The menu was not too overwhelming, but everything sounded delicious. Service was super prompt, very attentive & didn’t leave until she understood our order(loud atmosphere). Could’ve had more of a personality but as long as she didn’t forget about us, no complaints. We started w/chips & queuso, all the positive reviews for the queuso are spot on, freakin awesome! Not watered down, & just enough spice. We decided on the Signature Fajita combo w/steak, chicken & shrimp & the BBQ grilled fajita burrito. The combo fajita is piled high, so don’t pig out on the chips. Fajita was very good, nothing too special, chicken tasted like chicken & not dry. Steak had no seasoning & a bit on the dry side, but the shrimp was surprisingly flavorful & cooked well. The BBQ burrito was very good, very flavorful. I thought the sauce was a bit too sweet but boyfriend didn’t think so, so… personal opinion. If you can handle your alcohol, definitely try the margaritas. We had a pitcher of the 1800& it was delicious. Last pour was a bit sweet, just needed one of those long stirrers & it would’ve been perfect. Server took a bit too long to ask if we were ready for the check, but was prompt otherwise. Recommend one visit, keeping in mind not all days are the same.

First of all, there is an important distinction I’d like to make that I haven’t seen emphasized in some other reviews. This is NEWMEXICAN food, not Mexican or TexMex. As in the state. New Mexico. I should know, as I spent a year there(and, you know, it says it on the menu). In New Mexico, they put chile on everything. No, seriously. Everything. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner: chile. Red or green? If you want both, Christmas! Typically, green has less heat and red has more heat. I was openly amazed when I went here with some work colleagues. I really felt like I was back in New Mexico. I actually taught on a Navajo reservation, so to see that a Navajo taco(which, by the way, is not eaten by Natives with their hands, as the menu states…) was an option blew my mind! I ended up getting the nachos with chicken. They were absolutely delicious. Not only that, but I ate it and ended up with a full to-go box. I spent about $ 10 on my meal. I’d say that’s pretty good for something that I found both delicious and filling, and will eat again for 1 – 2 more meals! I haven’t been able to find chile in Ohio. I was convinced I wouldn’t have any taste of my time in the Southwest until I go back to visit. Child Verde Café proved me wrong! They make a green chile stew themselves, in fact. The only difference that I see is that the green chile stew is advertised as being really spicy. Green chile in NM was the more mild of the two, so I’m hoping I’ll try it and not be too blown away by the extreme spice. I was ecstatic to find this place, and will be so excited to come back. Can’t wait to bring my boyfriend here and give him a taste of my time in New Mexico!

We ate here on a busy mothers day and the food and service where excellent. Saw a review down the page where the person thinks they are Gordon Ramsey, writing cuss words and very gross descriptions of what her plate looked like. Must have been an off night because today they rocked and each and everytime I eat there its the same great service, great food.
