Oh dear, oh dear. We’ve changed management again. In my previous review I sang the praises for the new group of managers that took over in 2009. Salt in the winter! Clean pool in the summer! Community newsletters! Life was amazing! Sometime early in 2011 they cycled another group in. Since then, we’ve stopped receiving community newsletters, there was almost no snow removal during the long-lasting winter, and their lease expiration notice policy changed. Previously, I had received notice well in advance that my lease would expire and that I needed to re-sign my lease or turn in my notice to vacate. After the Good Mangers took over and things started looking up I decided to re-sign my lease. The required notice to vacate for any lease here is a somewhat unreasonable 60 or 90 days(law requires at least 30). Now the management apparently«doesn’t monitor closely» when the notices are sent and«it varies» if they’re sent at all. 60 days of a 9 month lease(like mine was) is almost ¼ of the lease itself. 90 days is even worse at 1⁄3! With their policies and deceptive lease expiration notices, it’s nearly impossible to move out within a reasonable amount of time without paying an additional month of rent. I asked the manager for options and she said she wouldn’t(not couldn’t) do anything. She also wouldn’t give me the name or office location of her supervisor, but instead gave me a number to a voicemail service and told me they wouldn’t call me back. I asked about subletting and it was pulling teeth to get information on that process… an extremely frustrating and pointless attitude! Other lease oddities and caveats: * The $ 200 — $ 300 «Pet privilege fee» is only for having a pet. This is not a deposit and they will not use it to cover any work that needs to be done after you move out. * You sign away your right for 24 hour notice of entry. Management can inspect or show your apartment at any«reasonable time» without prior notice. The neurotic management cycling, the ever-changing policies, and the shocking lease all make Cameron Ridge a big«No» in my books. If you’re thinking about Cameron Ridge, just keep driving east and try the Lifestyles one stop down the road. They have wonderful apartments AND they’re technically in Columbus instead of Gahanna, so taxes are cheaper!
