Nothing authentic about this place! I travel a lot for work and try Cajun food a lot. This place is more of the«out of the can» Cajun! Won’t be back for seconds…

Hostess was a little rude. Have tried this before and disappointed but after reading more reviews today and really craving cajun thought I try again. Asked for the bold flavors and not disappointed will go back next time I get a craving!

I loved this place. The waitress was fantastic. My burger was perfect, didn’t enjoy the sauce, glad I got it on the side. My husband liked it on the fries though.

I had the oyster po boy. Did not fair well with my stomach and the sandwich came with no sauce just fried oyster lettuce and tomatoes. Was kinda a disappointment. The fried okra was perfect though and the sweet tea was great and the staff as nice as could be. Oh and the crème brûlée was delicious just a little too much chocolate on the bottom for me. Prices were fairly high, maybe I’ll have better luck next time with the sampler for dinner.

The food was ok. The crab cakes were baked/fried a little too hard for our liking. The shrimp and grits with sausage were great.

I’m a flight attendant, and I’ve eaten in New Orleans countless times. Their food was amateur at best, I ordered the étouffée and got rice with spices on it and four shrimp. That is not authentic New Orleans Louisiana étouffée. I was overwhelmingly disappointed

Not all bad… Not all good. Talked my wife into takeout of their low country boil, not bad for not having to do it yourself, she liked it too. Fast forward to looking for a place to eat and we decided on Café La Rue. Chose to sit outside since we have two little ones that are mannered, but your typical antsy when they reach a certain point, nobody was outside with us, not bad. Placed our order where they had a good selection of kids plates. Our adult beverages, need some with spicy food, seemed a little on the not cold side, recommended to our waitress that the fridge could be turned down a notch, when you have one beverage of choice with your dinner it must be cold! Ordered our meals, right after is when the mosquitoes hit, wave after wave. Our bad, we did sit outside. Recommendation, if you sit outside take some spray! Meals arrived, kids chicken was real chicken! A little spicy but as I said, REAL. Wife hit the appetizers, fried green tomatoes, heavy on the breaded coating but palatable. I tried the chicken and sausage jambalaya, scratch that, bunch of rice, little sausage and less chicken, no really, it was a joke between us spotting the chicken, kinda like Where’s Waldo? Did have a good cajun taste, required the use of the not so cold beverage. Made it through the meal, server messed up the check so after paying they had to run it again to fix a misplaced dessert. Oh, Crème’ brûlée, not so fast, some cream type substance with chocolate chips added? The crust on top was good, cream, custard inside was still cold, very cold! We may need to buy the low country boil again, only when I am too lazy to prepare it myself. Wife said it was worse than what I wrote.

The food was great. I’m from outside New Orleans and I liked the three dishes we had on our table.

Service is extremely slow. You can pick up the flavors in their food which would be nice if it wasn’t cold. The eggs are bland and the French toast tastes like something weird. Good thing is the beer. That’s about it. The appearance looks great but it’s deceiving.

My party and I were going to Apple Bee’s across the parking lot, but seen this place and decided to eat here. My son ordered fries and chicken strips he had no complaints, but hey how bad can you mess up chicken strips? My sons father ordered a Caesar salad, coke(which was served in the coca cola bottle ghetto,) and fried pork chops. While chit chatting I ask my ex how did his pork chops taste and in unison the word DRY flowed out from the both of us. So thin too. I ordered a small glass of Moscato(the first glass of nasty Moscato I have EVER reluctantly sipped on,) house salad with balsamic vinaigrette(I was given a container of olive oil and a 2nd of plain balsamic vinegar I guess I was supposed to make my own vinaigrette ghetto,) warm salad, and boiled seasoned shrimp. An hour later I begin to have the bubbly guts so even though my taste buds said the shrimp were decent my bowels disagreed and decided to «move» them out of my system. When the waitress checked on us I mentioned to her pointing to the half arse eaten dry jerky meat was TERRIBLE. She cleared our plates and came back and deducted the wine(undercover Thunderbird) from my ex’s check. My ex and I both have experienced the food in New Orleans neither of us had the expectations of the real deal, but they need to rid the pretense of Cajun from their title and menu. Go to the Apple Bee’s instead plus their prices are more reasonable.

I’m surprised to see so many bad reviews for this place. We went there for dinner for the first time two nights ago and went back again the very next night for take out. Admittedly I have little experience with authentic Cajun food but I found the food to be very tasty. I had the chicken and sausage jambalaya and my husband had the red beans and rice. Both dishes were very flavorful and heart-warming. If this was bad Cajun food I am prepared to be blown away by good Cajun food. I’m a bit of a food snob usually so I feel that even though I have little experience of Cajun cuisine my taste buds are sophisticated enough to be able to discern good food from bad. This was definitely not bad at all. We also had the onion petals as an appetizer and they were lovely. Just the right amount of batter to onion and fried perfectly. A delicious sauce to dip them in too. Maybe they hired a new chef — clearly someone knows how to cook here. The next night I had more jambalaya and my husband had penne pasta with grilled chicken and tomato blonde sauce. It was delicious and creamy and very flavorful. It could have done with a bit more chicken. I also wish they would use less dried cilantro and more fresh instead because the taste of dried is bland. The desserts on the other hand were pretty lame and I would say they need to work on this. The restaurant is small and dimly lit. They do have high chairs for kids which is always a bonus. Our waitress was very friendly and polite. So too was the other male member of staff I saw.

I ran out of my Café du monde beignet mix at home & my order wont be in until the weekend. After searching, I was surprised a place here served beignets. I like the atmosphere & staff was friendly, very comfortable. I ordered just beignets, no problem. They were HORRIBLE!!! Hard, the powder sugar was caked on & the list goes on. Everyone makes beignets different but these were completely far from being close to a beignet. Hopefully they will order their mix from café du monde, read the directions, practice, & cook/serve them the way intended. I do plan on returning to try an entrée, hopefully its better than the beignets.

Not very good food. The fried green tomatoes were frozen and mushy in the middle when cooked. The country boil also had frozen corn, shrimp, and basic sausage. Nothing special and hardly spicy. Not worth going for«Cajun» food, that wasn’t really cajun.

It was a nice place for dinner. I had a sampler plate and my shrimp was cooked to perfection. The desserts were good too. It wasn’t terribly spicy, but we enjoyed the flavors of the food.

A nice dining experience. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was served quickly, it was spicy though not so much as to be over powering. The patio was pleasant and I felt like I was in my own backyard instead of a shopping complex. The food was good but the price was high considering it was mostly rice.

Went there with some friends last summer. For starters, I was not looking for a Cajun place but for something other than the run of the mill American junkfood. I like spice and Indian Food. Cajun cooking is known for its spices so we gave it a try. Drinks: Ice Tea. Can’t go wrong. Coffee was ok. Food: Had the sampler and was happy with it. The boudin was decent although it did not quite hit the spot. The shrimp étouffée almost had me licking the bowl it came in. Prices are decent, parking available. Staff is friendly and the cook is Indian. If I ever had to come back to Columbus(I sure hope not), I would visit this place again.

This is one of my favorite places to eatin Columbus, GA. Twice a month… at least. Everything I’ve ordered has been wonderful, though I have to say my personal fav has been the Boudain. The staff has always been friendly and the owner is often visible making the rounds to chat up the patrons. They’ve recently added a Sunday brunch menu which I had a chance to try out yesterday. The Oyster Supreme knocked my socks off. Gently fried oysters accompanied with grits and sunny side eggs drizzled with a wonderful crème sauce. Awesome! They’re open 7 days a week and offer a weekday lunch menu.

Nice atmosphere! I’m from Louisiana and I was thrilled to find a Cajun place here. Not near as authentic as New Orleans, but a good option. I like the tilapia, shrimp & grits, and beignets(not exactly like café du monde, but yummy!) Staff is super nice.

The small place has a weird kind of vibe. The dining area is really small but they have an outdoor dining area on the side. My friend and I sat inside and our server-who seemed to be the only one there. She was friendly and let us take our time. I ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and which was all right. They were hot and fresh, but the tomatoes were a little underflavored but the remoulade sauce brought it up spice/flavor wise. I tried the trio sampler of their specialties: the crawfish étouffée, and the boudin served on white rice. The boudin was a nice surprise it was a really well done white boudin, with a nice, subtle savory flavor that the rice soaked up too. The jambalaya was really good with a nice heat to it and they didn’t skimp on the sausage and chicken. The crawfish etoufee was similar, less heat but I think that’s because the rice kind of took away from it. They both felt a little off slightly, like it was reheated. The boudin though didn’t-maybe because I got a sampler plate because my friend got the full size portion of the jambalaya and he liked it a lot-and was even a bit too spicy for him. Dessert was offered and I couldn’t turn down a pineapple upside down cake-even though beignets were on the menu. The ice cream was delicious and had a home churned feel to it. A bit on the pricier side, but still pretty good.

I WANT to love Café le Rue! I really do! I’ve given them two chances, and the first was better than the last. The owner was friendly and visible on both visits. The café itself is charming, but the waitstaff leaves much to be desired. Sadly, on my last visit, there were no beignets(really?), our server left us waiting endlessly, and my fried green tomatoes reminded me much more of onion rings than anything I’ve savored in NOLA. :(So sad.
