Jose is one of the best in the business! My naturally curly hair is difficult to cut and he is the only one that has been able to cut and style it well. He also restored my hair color after a bad highlight from another salon. His color techniques make my blonde hair look like my natural color when I was young. I love the intimate setting at the studio– it’s relaxed, clean, and friendly. Although I’ve only been to Jose, it seems all the stylists are well trained and professional. Love this place!

I originally chose this salon when I moved to Columbus because it was close by and used cruelty-​free products. I hate to have to give such a poor review, but I have given this salon multiple chances and the last three visits they have destroyed my hair. I tried to carefully explain exactly what I wanted, but each time it seemed like the hairdressers (I have now tried two different people) just did their own thing with my hair, regardless of what I specifically asked for. I think they are really nice people but they just don’t seem to understand color formulas enough to give you the outcome you are looking for. I had to go back twice the last time because they accidentally dyed my hair brown and then over bleached my hair so much that it’s been really damaged ever since. I have never had trouble explaining colors or what I want as much as I have had with this studio, and I asked for the same style I had been getting for the last year which my previous hairdresser (before I moved) had no trouble doing. I usually have a very close relationship with my hairdresser and stay with them for years, but unfortunately I already will have to find a new salon because I can’t keep spending so much money on hair that is nothing close to what I asked for and that I have to go and get fixed every time.
I’m sure if you are just looking for a cut or all over color you will find that they are super friendly and do a decent job for a pretty affordable price. But I would not recommend this studio if you are needing anything more complex than just all over color — you have a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance of maybe getting what you asked for.

I’ve been seeing Marissa for months and just always does a great cut! She takes her time and makes sure my hair is faded or disconnected just how I asked. The shop is always clean and well maintained. The staff and owner are always friendly and remember my name.

I used to get my hair done at Kenneth’s, which they always did a great job but they were just so crazy expensive. One of my dear friends is a hairdresser here so I decided to give it a try. Marissa always does an awesome job and seriously exceeds my expectations. The rest of the staff and owners are always especially friendly and welcoming. The salon is always super clean and the prices are fair.

Received a cut from Josè, the owner of the shop, and he did not dissappoint. Not only is he great at his job, he and the rest of the staff are professional and fun to talk to. Their salon is clean, well maintained, and also has a great atmosphere. I will most definitely be going back!

Tried this place on a whim/​recommendation from a friend, and I’m so glad I did! I went in with bright red and red violet hair, and Rob was able to turn it back into a warm brown with warm bayalage tones in just one session per my request. Personable, professional, and a calm atmosphere. I will definitely be going back. Thank you, Rob!

After a few months of living in Harrison West, a curious neighborhood in all of Columbus for sure, I called and made an appointment. Bangstudios have an inviting space on the SE corner of Harrison’s West’s most idiosyncratic intersection, Third and Michigan Ave.
Jose, their director stylist, was sweet on the phone and in person. He set me up with
Arielle. When I arrived she took my coat and we talked about goals for the new year and Harrison West’s charm. At some point the hair cut was on and we stayed mostly silent while she figured it out. Also, terrific tattoos. Plank boards in rich wood tones adorn the upper walls. Good music, simple and clean played. There was a Danish modern sofa sitting up against the front window. I started to ponder it and the red iron thatch Valentine’s Day hearts hanging in the window above because really was the sofa Danish modern? And Valentine’s Day is interesting for all its contradictions.
Arielle was great, very gentle. Easy to discuss style sensibilities. I appreciate when a salon has people gifted with a gentle touch who can also help you understand your own hair. It’s a great place to absorb atmosphere and come out feeling handsome.
