This place is wonderful! I was in pastry heaven! It’s also nice to have healthier options available. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious! It was a real life saver from all the vending machines and Wendy’s while a family member was hospitalized.

4 starts because it is a little bit pricey. Their breakfast egg sandwiches are kind of in the bland side but their bagels are really tasty. Loveeee the chipotle bean burger. Probably one of the best ones I’ve had.

Fresh and health food, made quickly and nice sized portions. Friendly staff, good coffee, tea and WIFI, can’t be beat. If you need sandwich advice just ask. If your lucky Seth will be working, driven and very customer service oriented. Answered about ten questions my daughter had and was cool about it, good dude. Register online for deals and a free coffee travel mug. Beats hospital food hands down.

Au Bön Pain is a welcome addition to the medical center! The coffee drinks are cheap and tasty(around $ 2). The sandwiches and salads look amazing but also a little pricey for a regular lunch spot. If you’re looking for a better bargain, get a breakfast sandwich! They are cheaper, but just as good and filling! I also love the pastry selection — the chocolate croissant is my favorite. They list the calories for each menu item.

So, the new James Hospital is awesome to begin with and I just like walking around it. But it also gives the OSUMC an improved dining option. They spent lots of money re-doing their cafeteria, but didn’t make the food any better unfortunately. So if you aren’t craving Wendy’s you have Au Bön Pain. Its a large open space. Even during lunch hour, you get your food quickly. Food is a little expensive but I get a full sandwich and a soup for $ 8.99. I’ve had 5 different sandwiches and all have been great. Their soups are all great as well and you can sample them if you want. I haven’t tried pastries or anything like that here. There is some seating but it is usually packed during busier times(read: lunch).

Dear Au Bön Pain: Where have you been all my life??? During the middle of my last finals week, my friend and I wandered through the hospital and ended up discovering this gem. It’s hidden on the conference level floor, so very easy to miss unless you know where to go. However, because it’s on the basement floor, it’s very well-insulated(translation — nice and toasty), which is perfect for these cold and snow-filled winter days. Otherwise, it’s pretty much your standard Au Bön Pain. It’s a bit more expensive than other chain sandwich shops(i.e. Panera), but I think the increase in quality and taste is definitely worth the price. Plus, during the holiday season, they were offering $ 5 coupons for every $ 25 you purchase on gift cards, which I very much took advantage(given how many times I’ve come back to this place, definitely worth the temporary splurge). So far, I’ve tried the: Smoked salmon wasabi bagel — The standard is the onion dill bagel, but I find that the wasabi favor masks the taste of the onion dill bagel, so I usually opt for the skinny wheat bagel instead. Tastes just about the same, just as filling, but almost half the calories! This is my go-to when I can’t decide what to order. Southwest chicken salad — I got the pre-packaged salad without the dressing, which was very satisfying at first, but got a little bland after a while. I might try getting a freshly-made one sometime. Waldorf turkey wrap — Ordered this as part of the half-soup half-wrap special. Surprisingly, they actually just make you a wrap that is half the size of a full wrap(as opposed to making a full wrap and just cutting it in half). You can get either normal or wheat tortilla(I opted for the latter). Pretty much what you’d expect for anything waldorf. Only complaint is that the dressing was a bit overwhelming, so I’ll probably ask them to go light on(or without) the dressing next time, but I’d definitely order this again. Turkey chili soup — The second half of my combo special. Just the right amount of flavor and a nice consistency without getting too thick. Also really warms you right up. Warm spinach and cheese croissant — I’m conflicted on how I feel about this item, since I want to love it, but because it’s kept heated(rather than freshly made on the spot), it’s not as hot as I’d like by the time I get here. I’d get this again if I’m really in the mood for a savory croissant or if I see them re-stock with freshly-made croissants. It’s not a bad option, but if it were slightly hotter, it would be just perfect. This place is pretty much my go-to whenever I’m searching for food on campus. My stomach is always satisfied, but my wallet is slightly crying.

dynamite turkey sandwich On my dinner break I strolled down to try Au Bön Pain out for a sandwich. I find them rather pricey, but considering the flavor it was well worth it. I had one of the turkey sandwiches which had avocado on it among other things. The sandwich was packed with flavor, just incredible to the very last bite. One of the better sandwiches I have had this year and that is saying a lot since I do not typically like turkey. I will definitely try them again.
