Steve R. My wife and I began taking lessons here in January 2014. It has been so much fun and very challenging. Our instructor was an international champion competitor; and she has been an instructor for many many years. She continues to challenge us and give us tools to grow into excellent dancers. Since my goal is to attain proficiency and excellence in the broad spectrum of ballroom dancing, I was very fortunate to be perfectly matched with such a mentor and the Arthur Murray system of carefully layered instruction.

If you are ready to buy more(read private) lessons, only then should you go. I enjoyed the lessons I bought through groupon, but got so frustrated and embarassed by the continuous pressure to buy more that I won’t even go to finish the lessons I bought.

We’ve done Arthur Murray elsewhere(and loved it) and the Cbus store is true to the formula. The staff is friendly and helpful. The dance space is a bit smaller than I’d like, but certainly adequate. The AM method is easy to follow and well proven, if a bit structured. No mistake, their job is to sell you dance lessons and they are not cheap. Set a budget you can afford and you’ll have a great time.

I came in here with a friend on a Groupon deal(as, I’ll be frank, ballroom dance classes are generally outside of my price range) and was happy with their flexibility in scheduling times for classes, and the location in general. If I were to rate only the instructor, this would be five stars– this guy was extremely patient and explained things clearly, as well as doing his best to put the quite nervous me at my ease with jokes and whatnot. Also probably a good dancer? Not that I can really judge such things. I learned a step or two of waltz, merengue, rumba, and swing, and really enjoyed myself. The rating is bumped down(and part of me wants to bump it down more) because of the front desk/manager/financial type guy, who spoke to my and partner in a kind of condescending and overly forward way; he seemed to really be pressing us to sign up for more classes, and didn’t give us a graceful way to leave after class. Eventually my friend channeled her teenage punk roots and got us out of there with a brusque-but-much-needed«no thanks,» after around ten minutes of sales pitch. I get that Groupon customers are managed heavily towards making a sale because Groupons are used as advertisements, but I honestly felt a bit uncomfortable and pressured, and it detracted from the quality of the experience. All the same, I’m looking forward to the social class later on, and I’d recommend going if you can find a deal/have some spare change, since it’s really fun! The class itself is a blast. Maybe I’m just not assertive enough to deal with the pitch afterwards.

We took a class here from a dancer called Diego. INCREDIBLY wonderful experience!!! I never thought I would get the chance to learn an actual ballroom dance as it is such an expensive hobby to take up. However, I happened upon an ad in one of the local mags advertising 3 lessons for $ 10. I called to inquire and booked myself and partner in. Once he saw that there were other men in there doing this he was completely up for it and our lessons were amazing! Diego was seriously an amazingly patient instructor and squeezed as much as he possibly could in during the 3 lessons. We walked away having learned 3 basic dances and I would definitely go back! If this is something you think you might be interested in, call them and ask for the 3 for $ 10 lesson special!
