This place is awesome!!! We were visiting from out of town and heard that it was great but our hotel was out of their delivery area. The guy on the phone was so nice that they delivered to us anyways. To top it off the pizza was awesome! Very flavorful pepperoni and sausage pizza! Thanks!!!

Been living in Columbus for 8 years and I haven’t had a pizza better than Ange’s. The ingredients are always fresh, never over cooked and always how I like it. Maybe I’m bias bc they are a hop, skip and a jump away from me, but they are always my go-to. Never have to get a popular chain pizza.

«Matty’s Big 10 Pizzas of Columbus»: I am a bit of a fanatic when it comes to the old school pizza joints here in the capital city. The franchise chains and sell-outs(Donato’s and Rotolo’s) have nothing on the original pizza parlors that serve up our uniquely Ohio take on a true pie; thin crust, toppings to the edge, and the square«city» cut. That being said, there are very few of these family-owned establishments left, and even fewer that I haven’t tried at least once. My quest this summer is tough work; to hit as many as possible and rate the very best. Ange’s in Whitehall is the original location and has and has easily earned a spot in my «Big 10» with a pizza shop so classic and simple, it really hasn’t changed much over the years. They offer delivery but have no dining room. Just consistently great pizza served hot, fresh, and delicious at a reasonable price.

Fantastic pizza! Thin crust that I love to get well done for an extra crispy crust and those crunchy pepperoni. Also great to order a no bake to bring home and bake at your leisure.

My quest to find the best Italian subs in Columbus, and the fact that I work so close, brought me to Ange’s location on Yearling. We’ve had the pizza delivered to work, which was forgettable(as in I don’t even remember what it tastes like or when I had it), but I’d never tried any of the sandwiches that they offered. I would suggest calling ahead if you’re trying to get something quickly, because we made the mistake of going there and ordering, and it took about 20 minutes to heat up the subs. I also got an order of the jalapeño poppers just because I like to order extra food for no reason. The sub was nothing more than average I’d say. Definitely better than what you’d get at any fast sandwich spot, but it didn’t really have anything that made it standout among other Columbus heavy hitters. The bread crumbled quite a bit during eating, which I’m definitely not a fan of, but the dressing and meat were good enough for me to finish it. It’s also pretty cheap at $ 5.50. The jalapeño poppers weren’t that great. They weren’t very crispy, and the breading was falling off the peppers. The drive back to work was only 5 minutes, so I don’t think that’s what did it. Overall, Ange’s is consistently average, which is probably why they’ve been able to last and expand in Columbus for so long. The food isn’t the best I’ve had, but it’s definitely better than many other sub and sandwich joints around the city.

I agree with Brady. I did not enjoy this location of Anges pizza, here is why… 1– dined in since we were near that part of town and we got a 2 liter, they had no cups. 2– The guy with a bald head and African American was friendly, but the guy with a mustache and buzzed hair was very rude. He brought out the pizza and sat it down and didn’t ask if we needed anything, not a single thing. So I asked, «What, no plates?» He said with a rude tone«yeah, I’ll get them, in a rude and I hate my job tone. Then when he was talking to the other 2 employees, boy did he cuss like a sailor. It was F*** this and sh** that. Very poor customer service from him. 3– the pizza was ok, but not better than Massy’s down the street. Wish I would have known it was there but it was after we left that I saw it there.

I’m not sure if I just happened to order on a bad night or if these reviewers are eating at a different location, but I can’t say that I’m a big fan of this location. Ordered an extra large veggie pizza for delivery, and the pizza arrived lukewarm. I’m noticing that there is a trend in Whitehall to deliver lukewarm or cold pizzas. The pizza itself didn’t look any bigger than the large sizes served at other pizzerias. The cheese looked good but the other toppings appeared subpar and rubbery. The mushrooms tasted like they were out of a can. Peppers and olives were unremarkable. Definitely needed salt and other seasonings. I’d recommend giving it a try if you get a half off coupon from valuepak. Don’t think I’ll be trying it again.

This is by far my favorite pizza in Columbus… It’s reminescent of my favorite childhood pizzaria… which is still my favorite pizza by far. I love the peperoni and onion… wish the onions were slivers instead of chunks, but I deal.

The most horrifically idiotic staff with the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Twice we have ordered, the first time they simply«lost» our order trying to send it to a second location. then after realizing they already charged us(TWICE!!) they delivered…2HOURSLATE. We got some enjoyment out of our cold food and soggy salad and thought we’d try it one additional time hoping to get a better feel for the food once delivered hot. After nearly twenty minuteson the phone procuring an order we are settled in waiting for our pizza to arrive… Soon they call to CANCELOURORDER, YELLATUSANDHANGUPONUS. Horrible service, mediocre food, rude and inconsiderate staff. We will never again order from Ange’s again.

I am convinced that Ange’s has so few reviews because everyone already knows that it’s the pizza authority? Try the pepperoni, and the garlic bread!

Ange’s has been around quite a while. This Whitehall location, it’s my understanding, is the original one opened after the family settled in central Ohio, having recently arrived from Italy. Old man Ange didn’t have many work skills, but he could make pizza. Good pizza, his friends and family told him. So, that’s what he did. I left Columbus shortly after graduation from high school and ended up living in five time zones across the country before moving back 28 years later. I’ve eaten pizza from Honolulu to Boston, Anchorage to Miami, Minneapolis to San Antonio, Baltimore to San Diego, and most points in between. Tossed, thin, deep dish, stuffed, NY style, Chicago style, Sicilian style, wood-fired, barbecued… you name it and I’ve tried it. No basic pepperoni pizza was better than Ange’s. None. Maybe Ange’s makes exactly the kind of pizza I like(duh!) and I have a soft spot in my heart(stomach?) for what I ate growing up, but I don’t think that’s the whole explanation. Ange’s has a unique and, in my opinion, heavenly combination of flavors among the crust, sauce, cheese, and spices that makes me want to eat and eat and eat until the emergency squad has to be called to restart my heart. It’s that good. And I love the little pepperonis curled up with just a hint of char around the edge and a little pool of oil in the middle. It’s like a work of art. Culinary art. I should take a picture of each one I get. Right before I eat it. Because this is NOT the kind of art that just sits around. It screams, «Eat me!» over and over until there’s nothing left to scream. Some say that the oven makes all the difference in the world. Maybe. Ange’s oven has been around for 60 years. Probably a lot more. I doubt that the oven was new when old man Ange anchored it to the floor of that little concrete block building on Yearling Rd back in the early 50s. I suppose ovens are like fine, old wristwatches: they have character. Every pepperoni pizza that goes out Ange’s Pizza’s door has character, too. And it’s a character I get to fall in love with all over again each time I pick it up and take it home. *****
