This place has so many delicious options in hot dogs and other foods that you won’t be disappointed. They now have wild game sausages too. So cool! You should try this place… they are very nice to you too.

Awesome, Had a dog from their game meat selection and man was it delicious. Also has some great fried treats as well.

The wild boar sausage was awesome! I didn’t add any toppings so I could get just the sausage flavor, and it was very tasty. Their fries are always nice and salty, and the funnel fries are a great way to end the meal.

My first visit to Acme was good. I ordered a Chicago dog and fries. The dog and toppings were delicious. Fries were a little greasy, but not bad. I did not get a chance to try the desserts, but it looks like they have someone local making scratch made goodies. The joint itself is nothing fancy, but it’s clean and the staff is extra friendly and super attentive. Just what you want in a little non-chain hot dog place. I can’t wait to try some of their other offerings. If you are looking for a good hot dog joint, I would highly recommend trying Acme.

Love love love this place! I have been in this part of town for a little while, but I was so glad to be back. The boarder dog was just what I needed. This time it seemed like they have some better employees too! I still left smelling like fry oil though. Somebody please buy a franchise and put it closer to my home!

Well, I gave Acme another shot, and this time I actually got in the doors. Unfortunately, it didn’t leave me excited about a third visit. A hot dog place should be able to do a Chicago-style dog right, and this one isn’t terrible. The toppings are more or less correct. There was no discernible snap in the dog; in fact, it was kind of shriveled and not very flavorful. The shriveled dog showed up again in my All-American dog, with just ketchup, mustard and relish. My wife got a cheddar jalapeño sausage and said it lacked any flavor at all beyond the spiciness. The funnel fries, on the other hand, were delicious, and the small portion was generous. But really, can you screw up a funnel cake? It’s fried dough. The sweet tea was pretty weak as well. Our service was very friendly, but the space is somewhat uncomfortable and the tables weren’t exactly clean. I’m glad Acme is here, but it doesn’t quite live up to its name. To be honest, when you’re in the same town as Wholly Joe’s, you’ve got a serious uphill climb, and Acme doesn’t get too far from base camp.

Great find! I love places that have a lot of options to top a good quality dog. I was very impressed by the polish sausage, as well as the topping. For sure a sketch neightborhood, but the offer discounts to police and firefighters, so there were a few police officers there when we were therer. Great food! Try the Area 51 sauce!

Questionable location for such an awesome little hot dog place. My dog came smothered in coney sauce and the best part was that it was charred, not boiled or what ever it is that every hot dog place in town does, it was charred like it had come in contact with an actual grill. I will go back, especially in the winter when i can’t grill my own hot dogs and Im jonesing for a nice crispy fresh off the grill hot dog.

I don’t mind laying down my head at night in a swanky suburb and I don’t mind going where all the pretentious artsy folk go if the food really is as good as they are saying it is(although usually it isn’t) but, when I really want to spend my money and be around other people Northland and areas like it are the places that I prefer to go. I have always encountered better service and it just comes down to it being my type of people, my type of establishments. Salt of the earth places like Acme remind me of being back home in Appalachia and I like that. I don’t typically want to eat my dinner next to business men or pseudo-artists, I want to eat my dinner next to a couple of guys with dirty hands that look like they just finished building something. That’s where I want to be. I instantly felt welcome at Acme, the people were brimming with hospitality, and who would’ve thunk it that peanut butter and jelly would be good on a hot dog? Well, they did and it might sound strange but, that sweet and salty is like magic in your mouth. They get huge props for that one. Their Cleveland Po Boy was just as good although it wouldn’t have hurt it to have some more french fries piled on if you ask me(I love potatoes). :P I also asked them to throw cheddar cheese, jalapeños, and bacon on my side order of fries and they did it with no questions asked and I think that they probably would’ve put jelly and peanut butter on those fries if that’s what I really wanted and asked for. That’s just how accommodating the folks at Acme seem to be. I really dug the intimate but, not claustrophobic atmosphere with all the bright colors that somehow avoided being too flashy and funny signs with an attitude that I can really appreciate. Do I like it at Acme? Do I prefer it over Dirty Frank’s? Yes and yes. Dirty Frank’s is cool, don’t get me wrong on that one. I love their slushies and fried leeks but, when it comes to the realm of hot dogs Dirty Frank’s mushy buns are their demise. Plus, it’s very trendy and well, while trendy is okay it’s just not ‘me’. Places like Acme are very much more ‘me’ and I will be going back to Acme way sooner than I’ll be making my way back to Dirty Frank’s. Dirty Frank’s is fun but, the warmth is missing. How’s the warmth at Acme? You’ll just have to take the trip and see for yourself.

I can’t help but feel like I’m missing something. In the Columbus hot dog game(which, admittedly, is not as competitive as I’d like it), this place doesn’t really make my radar. The good: I like that you can get mac and cheese on your dog, even if the bun is just a regular old bun. I like even more that I can get mac and cheese AND fritos on a hot dog ATTHESAMETIME. The bad: Our hot dogs came out pretty fast, but Meredith R. and I did not get our drinks until halfway through our meal. Guys! I know that Meredith and I shovel hot dogs in our mouth quickly because you know, HOTDOGS, but I don’t think it should take that long to use the drink machine. The staff was so busy shutting the place down(a little before 7, even though the website and menu say they close at 8) that we couldn’t even ask about where our drinks were. Later on, they kept coming and taking things off the table, presumably because they were closing but why were they closing an hour early? And there was a cop there eating too. WHYWEREN’T YOUTAKINGHISFOODAWAYTOO? There are so many capital letters in this review. I’m hoping my experience is the exception not the rule, but I’m not all that eager to go back and find out.

I tried this place tonight for the first time, and it was alright, but it didn’t make a spectacular first impression on me. The two people working there were nice, and the place smelled delicious, but holy cow, was it ever DIRTY. The floor was covered in bits of topping and all the tables were sticky. I didn’t really want to sit down. I had a Kraus von Slaw – a hot dog with coney sauce and sauerkraut – and it was pretty good, if a bit on the small side. I inhaled it in about 3 bites because I’m a complete glutton. They had vinegar for the fries, which is always a plus, but they were very soggy fries, which was disappointing. We also didn’t get our drinks until we were about halfway done with our meals, and the soda I got was one of those dealies where ¾ of the cup was filled with crushed ice, and there was a little bit of diet coke floating at the top. We ordered our food at about 6:30, and I noticed that shortly after we sat down, one of the employees began collecting chairs from the other tables and stacking them in a corner. Then while we were in the middle of our meal, she took the empty chair from our table and put that away too. It seemed weird that they were cleaning up, since their website said they were open until 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday, but then I overheard her chatting with the other employee about how they were closing in a few minutes, so I guess they actually close at 7. I let her take the soggy fries I hadn’t eaten yet and we left so that they could pack up and go home.

Prices are indeed reasonable, as most of Paul’s reviews say they are too expensive, but its not 1954 anymore… Three dogs and a drink for 10 is good in my book, especially whem you can get the tortilla wrapped and fried chimicanga-like border dog. Funnel fries rock, but the other sides hold them back from a five star.

This place is great. They have so many different possibilities, between the type of dog(regular dogs, several different varieties of sausages) and the possible toppings(sour cream and crumbled fritos on your taco dog, anyone?). You can choose a do it yourself combination, or choose from a list of recommended formulations. If I remember right, you can also get your dog burnt, deep fried, and maybe other treatments. In addition to the dogs themselves, this place has great sides, FUNNELCAKES, and ice cream. Want a funnel cake in the middle of January? Head here. The owner obviously takes a lot of pride in the place. If people are looking for a $ 1.25 hot dog, they should stick to Dairy Queen. This is much better for true fans.

First, I agree with another reviewer the prices are a bit on the high considering it’s a hot dog, but Paul F. is way off base a hot dog combo is $ 4.25 and includes a drink and a side and there are lots of free toppings. We had a really good lunch, I had the swanky franky which is a dog wrapped in bacon and deep fried with American cheese not greasy at all and yummy, with fries which are great(fresh cut). I also added an interesting dog with coney sauce and mac and cheese on top, also good but coney sauce was a little dry and lack luster. My wife had a regular hot dog(it was a hot dog), and awesome tortilla soup(not sure it is like typical tortilla soup and a little pricey @$ 4 but really really delicious. We happened to go on a Weds so my son got a regular dog fries and a drink for free. Negatives it is winter but the seating area was pretty cold, coney sauce was not great just OK.

Many different kinds of sausages and, yes, hot dogs. Tons of options for toppings, breads, etc. What I got was pretty good, but not spectactular. Service was friendly if not especially helpful. Acme might get another star if the prices were more reasonable. There are many specials(fire fighters get 20% off on Tuesdays, kids eat free with purchase of two full adult meals, stuff like that), but none seemed to apply to me at the time. Boo hoo.

Absolutely ridiculous prices! I’ve stopped here twice. The second time was to make sure I didn’t make a mistake the first time. Nope, I didn’t. I think a skin-on dog is like $ 4 or something. They can have them. I’ll stick to Village Coneys at $ 1.25.
