I tried this place out during a day trip in MD. I actually Unilocal my location for a seafood restaurant, which highest rating was Red Lobster but decided to give a local place a chance. That was the worst decision I made that day. I ordered the following:(1) Hurricane,(1) Sex In The Stable,(1) Crab Ball and(1) ½ STM shrimp. I came in right after the lunch rush I believe at 1430 on 10 Feb 2016 but everything I ate was anything worth calling home about. The drinks were made wrong and the crab balls was order cooked. Lets me share what really upset me, I order some broiled shrimp and when I look at my food I notice that the shrimp was not deveined. Who serves broiled shrimp and do not devein the first. I guess this should be noted on the menu so individual don’t accidentally eat shrimp poop. I called over the waitress and she told me the restaurant doesn’t devein the shrimp. I requested the bill, paid the bill, let a tip($ 5) and walked over to subway for to eat. Why call the manager if thats the restaurants normal. Save yourself the headache and go to Red Lobster.

There is another«The Corner Stable» location(Cockeysville) I reviewed it favorably in 2009, and then later, after a negative experience less favorably in 2012 as part of a discussion on a seperate place. I prefaced with that bit, to get to this. Back when I was in college, I was tall, handsome, muscular, athletic, good at several sports, held a «practicing» black belt in karate. I was even no slouch with the ladies. I am 52 now. My son is in graduate school. I joke(self conciously) that he is the younger, better, upgraded version of me now. So it is with this location in Columbia versus its older, less agile, gently worn out father. This place even smelled good. The food, like at its run-down progenitor is solid, okay, American fare. There is nothing special. I’m not even sure what they need to do… a little butter, a little more spice/salt perhaps? It’s okay, I would eat here again. It’s just not«noteworthy». What this location has is «location». It’s in one of those Columbia strip malls that doesn’t look like one, more like a sprawling liberal arts college– clean brick, well-repaired sidewalks, nice cars in the spacious parking lot. The door is glass, clean, and opens right onto a hostess station-complete with attentive young hostess. Money matters, a tax base matters, clientel matters.

Had the pleasure of returning home to be with family last week & of course dined at The Corner Stable. It was EXCELLENT! the food, drinks and our server Christina were out standing! we will definitely back the next time we’re home. You can’t go wrong with their crab cakes & ribs & kids menu items too!

We heard about the crab cakes from our family, so our first thought is «let’s check it out.» First, the place has a great setting because it’s tucked away in the King’s Contrivance center. The bar area is beautiful with marble table tops and a few TVs for games. The restaurant area is spacious as well. Service was great, thankfully. Now, for the food. The crab cake was as advertised. My wife had the crab cake salad. The crab cake is ALL cake and minimal filler. I had wings which were decently spiced. The corn fritters were tasty. However, the rib sandwich on Texas toast(I forgot the name) was a little drab. The sauce was boring and just sweet. I picked THREE bone chips out of my sandwich which was a little alarming. Still, this is a good spot which deserves another visit.

We’ve been here twice now, and enjoyed the eats both times. I have had the ribs, which are wonderful, and last time the crab cake everyone raves about. They were absolutely right about the crab cake. It was great. The Stable Fries that go along with it are great too. I like the skin-on fries. We had really good desserts as well. Try the chocolate lava cake, served with icecream and whipped cream. Really good. The service was dependable and friendly. I would recommend this to folks who like casual dining. Nothing fancy, just good food and I haven’t been disappointed yet.

This place is great, and I’m so happy to have a nice place to eat in the King’s Contrivance neighborhood. The bar area is a cozy refuge when the weather is nasty outside, and our favorite place to sit and have dinner. My husband and I are big fans of the burgers, which are huge and juicy. The ribs are not really my favorite, but the crab cakes are good, as are most other things I’ve tried. The only reason I’m not giving it five stars is because of their weird thing about barbecue sauce — I am not a fan of the stuff(maybe the reason I don’t care for the ribs) and I’ve learned to specify«no sauce» on whatever I order, because when I don’t, virtually everything(including, bizarrely, the fried chicken) will arrive slathered up with the stuff.

The crab cake is huge w/large chunks of crab meat. My husband loves the ribs and when we come to town he always wants to come to corner Stable. I think the food is pretty good but I’m in no rush to come here when we are in baltimore.

I went here because I was in the Columbia area. I should have went with my gut .My gut was saying their is not that many people here .Is it even worth trying and I wish i stuck with my gut. It was about 6:40.I said let me get a half slab of ribs and they said. It’s dinner time now. We only do whole slabs. I said ok and yeah rite. I was in the mood for some barbecue so i got a pit beef sandwich that was just mediocre. I definitely won’t be a repeat customer.

I wish that I could give a review but I really can’t. My girls took me there today for a Mother’s Day treat. They made reservations, had money to pay and we’re excited. We arrived a few minutes before our 6 pm reservation and were promptly seated. 20 minutes later we left after never being serviced, given drinks or acknowledged at all by anyone. Ironically when we left the hostess who seated us, 20 minutes prior, advised us to have a great night. When I said«we never ate» she just shrugged her shoulders. I guess I’ll never be able to review as I won’t be returning.

I’m giving one star because the staff is friendly. Ordered a salad and sandwich to go. The sandwich was edible the fries were the worst excuse for potatoes ever tasted. The salad was poor and even the dressing was awful. We used to like this place. No more.

Food here is okay. I have never felt like OMG this is amazing! It is all food that my fiancé and I could make at home. Corner Stable just makes the food a bit more«southern» styled(unhealthier). Sometimes it is a well needed treat! Also, bartenders here have been 50⁄50 as well as servers. I have only sat in the actual dining room once since we usually sit in the bar and the dining room servers are much more attentive and accommodating – just a side note. The crab cakes are very meaty with very little filling and the ribs are very tender and juicy. Some of the sides need a bit of improvement for the price you are paying. Water tasted funny.

Came here right when it opened on a Sunday… There is a private lot so that’s good! I heard it was known for their crabs and ribs… I know, weird right? I had my skepticism about the combination but both were really good! We also ordered the onion rings appetizer and it was better than I expected. And the cornbread was delicious as well! They do accept credit cards and there is a bar area

I frequent The Corner Stable for lunch, and have always had good experiences there. I will say that I normally get something easy, like soup and a sandwich(their MD crab is awesome, by the way). The prices are reasonable, and for that I keep coming back. Each meal I’ve had here has come out quickly and tasted great. The service is always good as well.

Everything about this establishment was almost at average. Nothing really stood out about anything. Reminded me of old Chesapeake Bay Seafood or Red Lobster. Only thing different was the high price for food that was just OK. The pastrami sandwich tastes nothing like your classic one. Didn’t have any taste to it. :.( Oh well…

I ordered the blackened chicken cranapple salad. The chicken was cooked really good. It was seasoned and grilled til it was juicy. The salad itself is lacking something. I requested shaved Parmesan. That kicked it up a bit. I liked the freshness of the apples and the sweet tartness from the craisins. What I didn’t appreciate was waiting 30 minutes for a salad in a moderately empty restaurant. I probably won’t come back. My bill was $ 15. They need a better lunch menu.

Got the Wednesday crab cake and fries special for $ 17 carry-out. The fries were limp and chewy and not salted at all. I slathered on the BBQ sauce to make them palatable. The crab cake was alright. A few of the lumps of crab were really chewy. Maybe it was overcooked? The crab cake itself didn’t have a lot of filler, and getting towards the center, it tasted better as the doneness became more acceptable. I would recommend Timbuktu over Corner Stable.

Barely tolerable. Why is the beer so expensive?! Why run a bar is you don’t want to actually do business? I don’t get this place. Ribs are great. But… When did you last have bad ribs? They’re easy. Everywhere has good ribs. I wish this place was better — it sure could be — but I don’t get the feeling ownership cares. Here’s hoping they sell.

Been here several times now, so I feel I can give a proper and well informed review. There are a lot of issues with this place. One being that anything fried on the menu is placed under a heat lamp in the back kitchen. How do I know this? Because my fried chicken had plenty of evidence scarring it(large areas of rock hard meat, for instance), not to mention the obvious lack of any sort of juices in the meat. It was terrible! If I wanted heat lamp food, I would go to a fast food place and not a restaurant that has everything at $ 10+ on its menu. The sides offered looked like something out of a TV dinner and had obviously been sitting out for a while because they were only lukewarm. Parking is also a sad state of affairs here. I have never gotten decent parking the three times I have been in this place and always end up walking a good amount before we can get inside. This time it was because some no talent jazz band was playing down the way a bit. The ONE saving grace for this place is the desserts. The home-made donuts are awesome and they’re the only reason the Corner Stable didn’t get a 1 star review from me. I would suggest to the owners that they watch their employees more closely, drop the damned heat lamp and/or get rid of the fried offerings if they’re too lazy to cook them correctly and actually cook food from fresh. Additionally, crab isn’t everything so they need to stop putting all their effort into one food item on the menu and neglecting everything else in the process. Not all of us like seafood and the Corner Stable is not advertised as a seafood restaurant.

Good service, good food, good specials. If you’re looking for a no-fuss American meal with options for pretty much anyone, this is a good place to go. My cocktail was made well, and they offer both short and tall sizes of beer, which is nice for different people. We started with mozzarella sticks, which I can’t really say much about, because how can you mess those up? My sliders were cooked just the way I asked, but they were a little dry, as if the cook had squeezed the juice out as they were cooking. They were still decent, and held up well as leftovers for the next day. The best deal of the night were the ribs, which were on special for an amazing price. They are also not kidding when they said they had the best ribs in Baltimore — the meat literally fell off the bone when a bone was picked up. The server was friendly, our meals came out pretty quick, and we got just what we wanted for the evening.
