Steel Penn Contracting

Tried to get a quote from Fred White for replacing my deck. Since I also need a roof he also took a look at the roof. He gave a ballpark on the roof that was $ 1,000 higher than two other quotes. Since I know one of the the other roofers I told him we would most likely only use him for the deck. He seemed a little put off he wasn’t getting both jobs. After 5 days he still didn’t deliver the quote for the deck so I emailed him. Part of the old deck was in poor shape and we took it down ourselves, something we told him initially we were going to do. He wanted to come out to our house again because the job specs had changed. We then asked for the initial quote. This went back and forth a couple times via email until he called and left the message. I called the next day. He took a couple minutes to figure out who I was. Once he did he seemed annoyed that someone took so long to call back. I explained that my son had been in the hospital but he didn’t seem to care. He didn’t seem to know we wanted two levels to the deck which is the way the old one was. This was why he had to come back. So I asked him to just quote it out the way he was working on and we could go from there. He then said that was impossible because it could be a difference of a few thousand dollars. I asked if he could give me some guidance on what kind of construction would be more cost effective. He said no not without coming out again. He then said maybe you should go with another contractor and I agreed. He was unresponsive, arrogant, and never really listened to all the details of what we actually wanted. More then enough red flags for us to stay away.
