It’s OK. Nothing special and they’re pretty skimpy/picky about what they will trade in or buy from you. OK selection of items, but it’s really quite underwhelming.

Stopped in and found some neat novelty items. Warcraft figures, comic books, t-shirts, European board games, and other assorted«geeky» goods. They sell a pinball machine and some arcade games too(Tetris and Ms. Pac Man). I will be doing lots of my holiday shopping here!

If your looking to sell some blu-rays/DVDs/CDs for cash, you’re better off going to a pawn shop. Unless you’re interested in trading for store credit, they don’t really give you your money’s worth… if that doesn’t bother you, you’ve found the right place. Also, don’t expect to leave with cash. They’ll write out a personal check from«Boone county bank» which is rather inconvenient. I’d suggest looking around elsewhere whether your buying or selling to ensure your not getting ripped off.

It’s a cool all-things-used media store. It has extensive VHS, DVD, and Blu-rays; LPs and CDs; video games from NES to Xbox 360. It’s got comics, geek toys, and board games. It is crammed full of stuff. I love browsing here. I confess there aren’t many«deals» to be had unless you’re looking at really old stuff – the VHSes are cheap, but the DVDs aren’t a real bargain. But I still visit every time I’m in town.

Kool place to check out as it has a lot to see. Popular place for the college kids to hang out. Arcade up front to play games also.

I have never been disappointed with this Slackers store. For a city that claims to have limited knowledge of music I always find the rarities on my list that I can’t even find in Chicago. Great prices too depending on how you spend…

I tried to order items and never received a call back, much like another reviewer. I have never gone back because of the carelessness of the employees as well.

If Slackers didn’t try so hard to get that ‘local record shop’ feel, my rating would be higher, but this store is trying to be something that it will never be able to achieve with such a disinterested staff and only one record distributer. In my first visit to Slackers, I was surprised at their limited CD collection. But hey, this is a record store, they can order some stuff in for me, right? I asked the cashier if they would be able to order me a few CDs. He pointed me toward a sheet of notebook paper on the side of the counter and told me to write down what I would like with my phone number next to it. I did. Weeks passed. I never got a call. Really? It’s that hard to get a hold of a few Iron Maiden reissues? The same thing happened with my next orders. It didn’t come in. No call. They really don’t care. Whether or not my request even made it to their only distro is also in question. Point is? Slackers is just the shell of a record store, its a false front in place of something this college town could benefit from. Two stars for their new/used game and movie collection. I’m not much of a gamer or movie-guy, but there seems to be a good, fair-priced selection there so I won’t floor my rating.

I liked the mini arcade up in the front. A Hook pinball machine? Awesome! I spent some time going through the dollar record bins. Found an awesome Jazzercize record that came with a poster. What a find! The staff seemed pretty excited when I bought this record. «Yes! I knew someone would buy this!» one cashier yelled to another. I also liked the collection of life-size celebrity cardboard cutouts in the back. It’s like I was shopping with the stars… weeeeeee.
