Kaboto Express Japanese Grill

I cannot say much about this place’s food. Mostly because I never received it. I made an order for delivery at about 8 o’clock and received a call from the restaurant at 8:11 because apparently they were really swamped and they asked if I would be willing to wait an hour and a half for my food. I wasn’t in any big rush for my food so I told them that would be fine. Next thing I know, it’s 11 o’clock and I still haven’t received my food or gotten anymore calls. I call the restaurant but it goes straight to voicemail. Then I went back to Unilocal to make sure I had called the right number only to find out that the place had closed an HOUR ago!!! I had paid already using my credit card (and it was a decent amount of food; about $ 35 worth) and they didn’t refund me or even call to let me know I would not be getting food from them. Never making this mistake again. If they say they’re busy then don’t opt to wait; find somewhere else that will actually get the food to you. If you pay for something, you should receive what you pay for otherwise it’s just stealing money. Really bad experience. Doubt I’ll try this place again.

Decent food. It took them three hours to deliver it after telling me forty five minutes and there was no apology. Absolutely ridiculous

I love the food here my favorite is the gyoza and lollipop chicken also I love the service and how happy the employees are they make you feel like you’re at home. If anyone is looking for a friendly place and good food come here.

Hibachi is very forgettable. Besides it’s nice location it’s just wasn’t expected. The hibachi is just too average to justify the cost. It’s a bit over-​seasoned and not very flavored focused. I got the steak and scallops and it wasn’t even grilled (if you can even call it that) properly.
TL:DR
Very average and too costly to justify it. Try the hibachi at peking wok III up the street. That sh** will blow your mind. And what real cooks taste like.

Found this place on GrubHub and decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did. We placed an order for delivery and received a phone call to let us know it was on the way and that we were going to enjoy the meal. The food was great! Everything was cooked to perfection and the portion sizes fit the price. I will definitely order from this place again!

Ordered teriyaki chicken– Chicken was not cooked all the way and the vegetables were very greasy. Unable to eat any of it.

Taste is just right. Shrimp & chicken stir fry was very good and tasty. I wish I had more time to try other dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant. Most dishes are from $ 8 to $ 13 for combos. You should definitely try this place.

I found this spot via Unilocal and Unilocal comes through for me again! It was great. I ordered the Lollipop Chicken (buffalo) which was spectacular and some shrimp fried rice. The Lollipop Chicken has 8 different flavors and it should be something you consider trying. Delicious. The owner too was especially kind — funny and very personable. I’ll definitely be back.

Owner came out to take my order and was extremely personable. All food cooked fresh. I ordered hibachi chicken and gyoza. Definitely going back to try the lollipop chicken! (Trimmed drumsticks) Great spot if you’re craving quick hibachi!

Being new to the area. Tonight I wanted Japanese Fried Rice Google this place.. Immediately I was greeted and establishment is very clean. Manager/​cook came out to greet me explained the menu and food. Food very good. I will definitely be taking that 30 min drive..

WoW customer service is supurb, really friendly staff, the food is awesome, fresh, delicious, and as far as any Japanese/​chinese type restaurants for on the go this definitely my favorite around town.

Wish I have found this place sooner. I’m stationed at Fort Jackson for training, since I’m Chinese and have lived in China for 16 years, good Asian food is always good to find.
What this place shines from the rest is all they ingredient they use is fresh, and they do the best they can to make things from stretch, I ordered lollipop chicken, chicken and shrimp with fried rice and a soup, the chef is nice enough to make me some soup even though they don’t serve any during lunch, really appreciate it.
Now the food, the lollipop chicken is on point, tender and crispy with a little kick of that buffalo sauce, nice job. Chicken and shrimp, the shrimp is de-​veined, aka that black stuff on the back of the shrimp, and like I said, all ingredients are fresh. What I especially liked was the fried rice. Yes the fried rice. here is why. In a generic Chinese restaurant, you will ALWAYS get that mushy fried rice thats overly salty and sugary. Here the fried rice is flavorful and fluffy but have that nice balance to it.
Be mindful that this is a small joint with a chef and 1 sever only, (which is why the price is so reasonable) so the service can be slow, but if you wait for it, it will be worth the wait.

you know, coming from a person that is used to live hibachi chefs making your food i would have to say this place is pretty good for being a fast food place. i found this place when driving by columbia place mall and Unilocal recommended that I try it so i called it in as a takeout order. By the way, i wish i knew at the time that they had more than just hibachi chicken because when i came in the menu was a lot bigger than that. and even tastier looking in my opinion. Anyway, 10 mins later on a cold and rainy day i entered the little restaurant and was greeted by the host/​server. i told him that i called in a takeout order and he asked me to be seated to wait. the owner who happened to be there peaked out and saw me had demanded to the waiter, «get her some soup!». LOL, that’s so sweet and cute, right?! So i guess you get special treatment while you wait as well. Anyway, the hibachi chicken came out and it was good-​especially for the price. I would say though, you get a lot more rice than you do chicken. it looks like just less than a chicken breast chopped up and thrown over the rice. So if you’re hungry, make sure you order two or maybe you can ask for extra chicken and pay for it.

I’ve been here multiple times and I’ve always had good service and food. Don’t go here expecting fast Japanese food like some express restaurants, but the wait is worth it

Not the best quality. Staff is pushy and they could be a little cleaner all in not my favorite place to go.

I stop by with my son for fist time. Staff very friendly and that on this times is a plus for me. I order a chicken shrimp combination. I was surprise by the large amount of food perfect for mi kid and I to share! Flavor was very good all ingredients are fresh and I’ll come back again. Good experience for me.
