I saw Jenny for a hair color correction. She is very knowledgeable and truly cares about how you feel about the services you receive. We talked extensively about the look I was try to achieve verses was what best to do. I had recently chopped my hair off into a pixie cut, and though I loved it, I wanted to grow it out. Jenny was the first person who saw the damage from the previous salon and didn’t say, «you need to cut it off». She also was able to get the desired color I wanted even with the damage hair. I will continue going back to see Jenny.
The prices are also very compareable to the area, if not a little less expensive, you even can get your hair dried at no additional cost after they wash out the hair color, unlike the other place I was going too.
The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because you have to leave the salon to go to the restroom. That may seem silly, but if you have to go while waiting on your highlights, you have to go out the back door, into the main building, to a shared bathroom. It can be very uncomfortable and awkward.

Clean, nice salon, was greeted when i came in the door, and offered something to drink. Loved my haircut with Jenny! I came in to try the place out, and she will be doing my wedding updo in June. My favorite part… when they wash your hair, there is a foot rest that goes up so it’s REALLY comfortable! I would definitely recommend this salon.

I wanted to try out a balayage ombré, so I went to Jenny at George of New York. She took the time to listen to my needs, and reviewed the colors available to me and talked to me about what would go best with my skintone. She is a true artist in her craft and a very good colorist. She has also cut and highlighted me in the past and I highly recommend her for any service. The salon was very clean, offered coffee or water, and assistants on standby. Convenient location with ample parking.

I looked up salons in the area before heading over here. I’m new in the area so didnt know where else to go. this was the only place with 5 stars so figured I could give it a shot. I probably should have walked out 2 minutes into the conversation with the stylist I had been assigned but I decided to suck it up and give her a shot anyways. This was by far one of the most frustrating hair appointments I have had in a while. My original appoint was for an all over color and a trim, I ended up cancelling the color job all together because the stylist kept talking over me and would not listen to what I wanted at all. Besides the fact that she didnt even bother to ask me what I wanted or what my experience with my hair was (do I get it done often or not enough etc) she just kept throwing words like «the aura I’m getting from you is very avant garde!». uhh. no. That was a red flag on its own so yes. I cancelled the color and prayed to god she wouldnt butcher the trim job. she did. You’d think with after 45 years of experience I could relax and enjoy getting my hair done. Not so much. The rest of the staff was generally polite (the girl who sat me asked if I wanted water or drinks, I asked for water but she forgot about me so didnt get that at all), the place is clean and doesnt smell of product so that’s usually a good sign. just wish my stylist was better.

Yes, a straight guy getting his hair cut at a salon. George’s is the place for a quality haircut.
Customer service: five stars. I was greeted immediately, checked in, and offered a drink (did she really just ask if I wanted a glass of wine? I mean… it is Friday. Oh hell, I’ll just stick with water) while I wait. Before my last visit, they called me about an hour before my appointment to let me know my stylist Tamiko was running behind. While the wait was a bummer, it was nice to have the heads up.
The girl who shampooed my hair gave me one of the most amazing scalp massages ever. Clearly not rushing through the process, but being thorough and borderline meticulous, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed a shampoo!
I came here when I was ready to chop my dreads off. My master stylist was able to trim down to the un-​knotted roots and make me look like a respectable member of society again — no having to resort to a buzzed head!
Prices and quality are expected for a salon. I’ll certainly go back.

I’ve been going to George’s of New York for years. Over 14, in fact.
I’ve been to multiple stylists, I take my kids (girls, now approaching teenagerhood!) and I’ve recommended the salon to friends.
The newest owner, Terri, is a fantastic stylist, and, as far as I can tell, excellent at running a quality establishment. And I say this having worked in the hotel/​hospitality industry.
Every experience I’ve had was either wonderful, or immediately addressed to my satisfaction. This is true of any I’ve heard of as well.
Terri cares about her customers and their happiness. For me, this shows in how you’re greeted and cared for by the receptionist; the engagement of the shampoo girls and of course, the experience with the stylists.
Haircuts are salon prices, but worth it.
Go. You’ll have a top-​notch experience. And if it’s even a little off, talk to Terri. She’ll make you a regular.

I went to this salon after the one I was going to for years closed. I got a great hair cut by a senior sytlist, who has since left, and it was a relief to find someone who could cut long hair to my satisifaction. All I wanted was a trim on the ends. Six weeks later I made an appointment with another stylist, Laura, since the other one had left. She wanted to layer my long thick hair but I told her that it never turns out right and I did not want that. She said that maybe one long layer would look good, about an inch up. So I agreed figuring I had enough length to just cut it off if I did not like it. BIG mistake. She proceeded to layer it several inches up, at least five, maybe six, inches from the bottom all around. At first I thought it would be okay since it look okay after she dried and styled it but the next day, it looked horrible and choppy. The stair effect. It was THE worst hair cut of my life. I called to complain and did get an appt for another senior stylist to try to fix it the best she could. It was at no charge, which was good but I had to insist. It did look better after she was done consider how stupid it looked before. That was in July and thank goodness it is just now grown out enough to be tolerable. It is just unfortnuate that people do not respect what you tell them. I know my own hair and it does not ‘layer’. It is too thick for that and she did not care what i wanted and just did what she wanted. I do not suggest using Laura unless you want her to just do whatever she wants to your hair. Maybe you will be lucky. I expected more from a ‘Senior’ stylist.

An excellent salon! I will continue to come to George of New York for their professionalism, kindness, and skill. It is SO hard for me to find a hair salon that I trust, as I tend to be quite picky about what is done with my hair. Stephanie is a wonderful colorist and stylist, and did an excellent job taking my vision and making it a reality. I know many people that come here and always enjoy their experience as well as the excellent cut, color, style, and attention they receive. A+!!!

I love my stylist Jill she has great attention to detail. I finally found someone that can do my hair which is very thick & black. I have been looking for someone since I moved here 10 years ago but no one that could do both color and cut right. They may get one of it right but usually when I go back a second time I know it time to move on to someone else. I’ve been to all the big salons in the area and a lot senior stylist but no one as wonderful as Jill.
