I was looking forward to dining here after seeing the pics. It’s hard to turn away from crepes and Nutella. As out-of-towners, it was unfamiliar territory so we were searching for the café in the plaza. The sign was small and plain so it didn’t stand out. We walked into a cozy café with a handful of tables, half taken and half unclean. We were unsure of what to do as we were not greeted and the server was bustling around so we just sat ourselves. After we figured out our order and still no greeting, we figured out that we had to order at the counter. The girls were nice as we ordered our dishes. We found out they have a second location in Ellicott City. I become a tad overzealous when it comes to crepes, well, food in general, so I ordered a savory and dessert crêpe. The savory salmon, dill, avocado, and egg crêpe was good. I almost changed my order when I saw the curry burrito crêpe Unilocal pic and asked the cook if it was still on the menu. She told me that it wouldn’t look like the pic as it was a one-time trial burrito and they found that it was soggy. They just put the curry on the side. Also, they didn’t have curry at that time so they couldn’t make it anyway. So I did find that the pics may not be consistent to the current final product and that they do run out of menu items. There were a couple of things crossed off the menu as I was looking through it. My dessert was the Belgian special — strawberry, banana, nutella on a waffle topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. How can you go wrong with Nutella? We each got a savory dish and a dessert crêpe so I suggest that they send out the savory dishes first rather than wait for everything to be done before bringing out everything. My waffle was cool and the ice cream was melting by the time I got to it. Overall, an okay spot. With some added colorful décor, keeping up with the tidiness, a greeting, better timing of dishes, I think it would have been a better experience.

I was so disappointed. We waited 20 minutes for our unacceptable meal.($ 30) we ordered very basic dish, waffle with chicken, and French toast. Waffle was undercooked, soft and didn’t have much flavor either. French toast was the same, tastes like it was cooked from the night before. Over all, everything except the chicken was mushy.(the chicken was alright and the jalapeño syrup was good) and they don’t have decaf coffee on Sunday. I don’t think I will ever come back here.

Amazing crepes! Cozy atmosphere. Great coffee. Good wifi. Intimate setting. Friendly staff. The only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is because when I walked in, I had no idea whether to sit and be waited on, or order at the counter, and the staff just stared blankly right back at me. After I asked questions, we were able to work things out. I would definitely be back.

Amazing food! I went with my friend after looking up Unilocal for some good pancake place nearby. I found this place in the list and i gave it a shot. Nice clean café. lady at the counter was really helpful and sweet. Being the first timers we didn’t had any idea what to go for. But after some inquiry we got eggspectation crepes, florence n blueberry strawberry pancakes! Everything was freshly cooked and delicious! That too for reasonable prices! Loved it! Will go at least once every week!

Small quaint little crêpe shop. Located in a small shopping center in Columbia. They create a variety of sweet and savory crepes along with your typical coffee drinks. It’s a place I revisit due to convenience not necessarily the great food. Be prepared to leave with a hint/smell of fried-ness.

We had two gluten free crepes… one was a ham and swiss and another one was spinach and bacon. Both were tough and the service was sloppy!

This place is a definite must for anyone that loves breakfast! I was very surprised by how great the food was. I visited this place after reading great reviews on Unilocal and was blown away. Everything was perfect and was ready fairly fast. I am a happy foodie!

I’m not shocked to see that other reviewers mentioned their burnt coffee, because the tea that I had at Mezcla Café today far too hot. It scalds the herbs, making it taste terrible. It also didn’t feel great when it spilled all over my hand. I knew I had to take the lid off for it to cool down, because I couldn’t stand to even hold it(and that’s with the cup sleeve on). The top slipped off, and it spilled everywhere. My hand is now burned, and thank goodness I had my coat on my lap, or I would have probably had some serious burns. When I told the staff that their tea water was hotter than it needed to be, I was told that they have no control over how hot the water is. Let me repeat: they claim to have no control over how hot the water for tea is. This means that they will continue to make the tea much hotter than it needs to be, putting customers at risk, and serving them burnt tea. I’m lucky I thought to take the lid off before I put the tea to my mouth. Management needs to fix this — fast.

The Nutella latte is for all that love drinking chocolate! Try it! How the omelets are packed w so much taste –cheese veggies meats and flavor! Yum! I may be back tomorrow! No telling! Hahah

Such a cute brunch place– The food, atmosphere, and service was great. The only con that this place has is that it is very small, so there aren’t that many tables. If you go at the wrong time, it will be packed and the food takes a bit longer to come out. Luckily, since my friend and I waited about 20 – 25 minutes for our food, a few tables opened up and we were able to sit and eat. Either way, the food was amazing, and this place was a nice little discovery :)

Service was horrible. Had to wait 20 minutes for burnt coffee. Owners kids were running in and out of the kitchen area. Bacon and sausage were MICROWAVED. Not sure exactly what’s fresh here other than crepes. Waffle and french toast was way too sweet and DRENCHED in nutella. Ice cream that came with waffle was freezer burned. Not sure about coming back.

This is an interesting little place. We came for brunch on a Monday. There was one person working. She was taking orders and making drinks and food. There were four of us, maybe two or three people ahead of us, and it took a good deal of time to get everything made. As should be expected for one person working in the whole place. With that in mind, it is a small place. They were missing rice and a certain type of waffle when we came. We were there around ten or eleven. I felt bad for the one lady working because as we were sitting and waiting several more people filtered in and were placing orders. Everything is cooked right there by the register. This place feels like it is trying to do something bigger than itself. I think they may be much more at home just having a handful of easy to serve items rather than trying to be a full fledged restaurant with one person making everything. It is very similar to walking into someone’s home and having them make food for you. Everything is chopped right there and added in. The food is very fresh. It was definitely worth the wait. Every bite was delicious. Just don’t come when it is too busy and you’ll be fine. We got a bulgogi quesadilla and a delicious waffle with ice cream, bananas, strawberries, and Nutella. And we got a Nutella hot chocolate.

We stopped in to try this place for lunch. It was a nice mix of crepes and waffles and Asian inspired cuisine. They also have coffee and hot chocolate selections. It took a while to get our food but it was delicious.

We had a nice brunch at Café Mezcla. It’s a small place and there were 6 of us, so we had to hang out for a while and wait for the large table to become available. There is no real waiting area and it was a little awkward to stand around near where people are eating, but all’s well that ends well. We ordered: the breakfast platter with bacon, chicken and waffles, stuffed omelet, mezcla club crêpe, cinnamon apple french toast, and Mezcla fries. I’d skip the french toast next time, the bread they used was a little too hard and didn’t really match the flavors of the apples and cinnamon. The chicken and waffles were awesome though; the dish had coleslaw on top and the taste complimented the chicken and waffles perfectly(this is coming from someone who doesn’t even like coleslaw!). The rest of the food was solid: not amazing, but good and the price was right.

This is a really neat place. Sweet and indulgent, yet simple and efficient. It’s a little expensive for the family because there isn’t a kids menu with smaller portions. The coffee is below average, but the waffles and crepes are outstanding.

We stopped in Friday night. In an attempt to venture into a non-chain eatery, I suggested coming here. I had favorited this hidden gem months ago. So we walked in and were greeted by the young lady behind the counter. While looking at the overhead menu, she offered my partner a «to go» menu so it would be easier to read, I myself always look for one wherever we go. After being given so many delicious options to choose from, I had narrowed my choices to the Korean Burrito, or a Chicken Gyro. I asked my partner what he wanted and as usual I had to say what I was thinking of first. So when I gave my choices he said we should try the burrito and Chicken and Waffles. So we placed our order. The burrito had several options, but knowing bulgogi was an option with kimchi rice, there was no doubt what to pick, then we were asked if we wanted regular or jalapeño maple syrup on the side, I assumed that the jalapeño would be spicy, but was assured that it wasn’t. The Food: Korean Burrito w/Bulgogi: I was a fan of it. The flavor came out really well. Kinda hoped it would’ve been a little bit bigger, but perfect for sharing. Chicken and Waffles(Sandwich) w/Jalapeño syrup. Good lord this was damn good. We couldn’t imagine this option without the jalapeño syrup, it made the already seasons chicken pop. I would like to see them play with the idea of making a savory waffle option. But all in all I could’ve eaten two for myself. After we were finished, my partner wanted dessert. So he went back to the counter and ordered a Nutella waffle. talk about gooey deliciousness with a scattering of bananas and strawberries. Worth the 5 stars and hidden gem qualities.

After church on Sunday’s I’m always looking for a new place to grab breakfast. When I found this place I just typed in French Toast and let Unilocal lead the way. I will have to say after looking at the menu I’ll have to let it lead me back for waffles! The place is pretty small with a small amount of tables in doors and even fewer outside. I’m pretty sure this place is leaning towards a takeout joint but will allow people to linger in and eat. Service is pretty quick but if you eat inside they call your name and you pick up the good, it appeared they were taking it to those who opted to sit outside. My French toast was pretty good but I wasn’t blown away by the eggs. Next time I think I’ll opt for take out and waffles, maybe then I’ll get to add a star.

Yummy breakfast/brunch food. Even selection of drinks. coffee, tea, bubble tea. I had the chicken n waffles with jalapeño maple syrup. Hubby had the smoked salmon & dill cream. Both very flavorful. They also have dessert crepes n other desserts. Seating is a bit limited. Plenty of parking since it’s in the Hickory Ridge shopping center.

Came here again with the gf after a couple weeks since my first experience. They must have read my previous review because they lowered some of their prices! Not but much, but definitely makes a difference. The waffle dishes were just as delicious as I remembered. Except this time I think they tasted even better! Maybe it’s due to the fact that I spent less money this time… The chicken & waffle dish was slightly different this time– added a sweet thai chili sauce that enhanced the flavor in a desirable way. Needless to say, I am very happy and content with this cozy little café. I might become a regular. A part of me is hesitant to tell people about this place because I want Mezcla to be my little secret treat haha. Nothing I can complain about anymore… I just wish I lived closer now.

So I love this place!!! I didn’t know when looking at Unilocal that this place has rice bowls and Korean burritos too!!! They also have Japanese curry! They also have gluten free flour to make things with!!! The prices are awesome, about 7 – 13 for crepes and waffles and you can get half a waffle for 4.75. I got the chicken and waffle which was delicious! Chicken breast but moist. They serve with a jalapeño syrup and it’s so good! I also got the crêpe amele, don’t judge, i have to try everything lol. This was a crêpe with shrimp, mozzarella, basil, Sun dried tomatoes, mushroom, covered in a red pepper cream sauce. This was good. Wish the shrimp was seasoned, and I’d probably skip the mozz next time. I saw them make the brie Apple and ham crêpe and that looked so good!!! My friend said I literally stared at the menu the whole time we ate, but I couldn’t help it!!! There were so many other things I wanted to try!!! We also got… I know, yes there was more… The banana strawberry nutella crêpe and that was the bomb. Com and I don’t even really like sweets! Kids got a smores waffle, they made them a really nice fruit cup too. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Dining area was small, can get crowded but clears quickly. My only complaint like other Unilocalers is that their ventilation is pretty bad. By the end my eyes were burning and my friend said she smelled like smoke when she got in her car. Never the less, I’ll definitely be back here!!! Especially to try their rice bowls. It’s located behind the giant in the same place bbq kote hibachi is. Oh, we also brought our own mimosas in like thermos cups… Sorry lol, they don’t server these… But didn’t say anything to us either. Again dont judge lol, brunch isn’t brunch without mimosas!

I had such a hard time deciding what to order because there are so many choices! Crepes, waffles, lots of savory and sweet options! I had the Tuscany which was good. The pesto was delicious and it was filled with LOTS of cheese. Sister had another crêpe which she liked too. We also shared a Nutella waffle. Lots and lots of Nutella. The food does take a little bit to come out just because they are making everything to order so everything is warm and fresh. They are kind of inconsistent though because for two out of the three crepes we got, they forgot some of the ingredients that was listed on the menu. Good addition to the area because we are seriously lacking casual food spots around here.
