I would have given 5 stars but the people who work and own this place suck. If you’ve ever ordered over the phone, you will see what I mean. They pick up saying «general» in the most miserable and depressing voice you will ever hear. Also, they are very expensive. The price of 2 grilled chicken sandwiches is $ 21.

My favorite sandwich spot, hands down. Their breakfast sandwiches are legendary, and you owe it to yourself to try one. The Cougar was always my favorite. Everything else I ever got from the General Store was also good, especially their chicken sandwiches. I definitely recommend the Chicken Delight. As an added bonus, the staff and owners are super friendly.

My son and I love this spot. It’s one of those non chain restaurants that are a Diamond in the rough. The food is excellent and the people are friendly and welcoming. Try «The Gator» breakfast sandwich… It’s basically NJ on a roll.

Food is ok, nothing great about this place besides it looks cozy and old from the outside. The reason I rated it so low is for one reason… They NEVER say «thank you» when you pay! There is primarily a woman who either manages or owns the place. She shows no appreciation for your purchase. Barely looks you in the eye, and never thanks you. The guy at checkout typically is the same. Sorry, it may seem petty but appreciation goes a long way. It does matter cause they lost my business

Woohoo! As good as it gets! For Colts Neck, New Jersey that is. The people were so nice. And breakfast was to die for. Their chocolate chip pancakes and potatoes were yummy. Wish I could eat these every morning.

I love the atmosphere and history of this place, but I am not impressed with the food. The turkey sandwich I got looked good when they served it, and it was certainly piled high with turkey, but as I ate it I noticed each slice of turkey had a rubbery rind around the edges. It was a pretty disgusting sensation while eating. I think they would do better to use a higher quality turkey instead of putting a ¼−½ pound of cheap stuff on each sandwich. I really wanted to like this place, but I’m a little nauseous just thinking about that sandwich an hour later.

Step 3: Pile into your friend’s car
Step 4: Smoke copious amounts of marijuana
Step 5: Go to the Colts Neck General Store
Step 6: Eat delicious, masterfully crafted sloppy breakfast sandwiches until your stomach explodes. Fuck yes, I’d like some more cholesterol with my cholesterol.
Step 7: Go to class high as a kite and full-​of-​shit as Michael Moore at an all you can eat, liberals only buffet.

I take the lack of a review for this fantastic place as a sign that people from my town do not know about Unilocal.If they did this place would have a zillion reviews. At it’s most basic the general store is a sandwich shop. FUCK YOU IF YOU THINK THIS IS ALL THEY DO!
They serve breakfast fatsandwiches. If you don’t know what those are then fuck you cause you don’t know anything. They have a ton of sandwiches but their most famous is the Killer. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Just thinking about it makes my heart hurt. Eggs, Cheese, Hashbrowns, Pork roll (fuck you not taylor ham), sausage, bacon on a sub roll.
Also if you’re the fishing type get some bait. It’s a pretty rad place and worth going in.
