At first I really enjoyed the dental program they offered here. You get to know new people and a new career. They work is really really easy. It would be really hard to get a bad grade. I have been to other colleges and you really have to work to get a good grade. Here they just want you to pass so you would really not have to show up and not look at your material not to pass.
That is not the main reason though that I would not recommend this college. There was a couple immature students in our program and they started a fight. Instead of the college doing something to discipline these individuals they decided to do a seating arrangement so everyone can get a long. So instead of reprimanding the students involved, we are all punished and don’t get to talk to our friends or classmates. I understand that they are trying to enforce team work. I also have a job and have been in the work force for many years and I get a long with everyone and yes you do need to work as a team but I doubt that your job is going to force you to get along with everyone. Its called professionalism and you shouldn’t treat your students like little kids. Some of us are adults here!

We have hired several students from the LVN program and I must say they are very well trained as graduates. We have had great success training the LVN’s to work in Home Health and have employeed, remarkable young women and men. Most of the students come out Trach and Vent certified, eager and well prepared to work in the Nursing field.

I attended both the Colton campus & the Anaheim campus for my LVN program. There are pros & cons to this school as with anything. First off, I am a bit chapped about the fact that they failed to tell me the LVN course is not transferrable if you want to continue your education afterwards by pursuing your RN. I am now at Chaffey College for the next 4 years to obtain my Associate Degree of Nursing going through a majority of the same lessons I learned at Summit with nothing to contribute transcript wise because Chaffey doesn’t recognize Summit’s accreditation. I feel like I wasted my time & $ 18k on my tuition there when if I would’ve just went to Chaffey, I could’ve had my RN already. Also, the DON is not my most favorite person in the world. She just rubs me the wrong way. to each his own, I guess. The school itself (the Colton campus, anyway) is very nice. clean, up to date equipment, very nice tools to help facilitate hands on learning. some of the clinical sites are really great (San Gorgonio, San Bernardino Community Hospital, Redlands Health Care Center, Linda Valley Care Center, Knott Avenue Care Center) & then there are some that aren’t so great (Centinela Grand, Windsor Gardens of Anaheim).some of the facilities are a lot nicer than others, but it’s all in what you put into your education. it could be a total dump for a clinical site, but if you apply yourself & are eager to learn, you will find a way to make the best of it & it also benefits you to know what a crappy facility looks like so you can appreciate the good ones down the road. most of the instructors & nurses at the clinical sites are eager to teach the students as long as the students show interest & initiative/​willingness to work. unfortunately Summit has lost a lot of really wonderful instructors over the past few years, so I can’t really say how great the instructors there are now, but if the students have an issue with something, they need to go as a group to the DON or to Deano to address their concerns because if you go as an individual, nothing gets done. Our class ran into several issues with the school during the course of our program & we had to go to the appropriate people as a whole student body before they would actually act on our concerns. That was pretty rough. but we pulled through & a lot of changes were made. The school is very strict on appearance & dress code, so expect that if you enroll here. It makes sense, though. nursing is a profession & you need to dress as a professional. If a nurse came into my bedroom looking half baked & like she just rolled out of bed, I wouldn’t trust her with my life. so yeah.also, always wear your badge/​CPR card. if you’re non compliant with dress code/​expectancies, they will not hesitate to send you home! Lots of wasted time & gas considering the school is allowed to have clinical sites within a 50 mile radius of the school’s campus. Take advantage of the Learning Center & any N-​Clex Prep courses offered by the school. They are free & very helpful to LVN students, but if you are eventually going for your RN, I highly recommend going to a community college instead. This school is accredited, but not transferrable!!!

From the very beginning I was treated fairly & with professionalism from staff! This school is top notch for anyone considering to become an LVN. DON and all teachers and clinical instructors really do care about all their students. Unlike the typical JC. I’m grateful to the people who took time to help me understand the importance of the educational side of nursing & the clinical side as well! This school is NOT all about your money! If that was the case then 50% of students would get kicked out of the program. They’re committed to the overall success of every student.
Speaking of clinical sites. We had some great opportunities! Yeah, you work at a snif and yes you do CNA work. In the beginning… A nurse is a caregiver. In real life if your going to be an LVN it’s a one team one fight approach. CNAs and LVNs must work together as a team. Some of the sites are Lanterman and San Bernardino Hospital, San G Hospital, Totally Kids, Patton were top notch facilities to receive hands on experience. Wow, what a great school this is!
People, if you think your going to ride through this program easily then you need to find another school. Every school including JCs and Universities have their issues with students and staff! It’s called real life. As with everything you do in life it’s what you put into it. Right? So with that said, if your willing to focus on «your» education and follow the rules and respect your fellow students and staff then you’ll do exceptionally well!
Just study! It’s really that simple. How can you blame people for your failure? If you’ve been to a JC then your aware that you sit there and listen to the professor. Same scenario here. Really its one of the best schools in California & I will forevermore be grateful to the many people that believed in my ability and my dream to become an LVN.
I was 100% prepared for the NCLEX. I walked in & out in under hour in a half and passed. For anyone who’s looking to have a career as a nurse or use this as a stepping stone for your RN do it. Just be committed to it for the year and carry yourself with dignity, respect and compassion! Traits of a great nurse!

What can I say about a sub-​par school? I show up and practically teach myself and still manage to get good grades. The school has its own rules that it fails to enforce such as a maximum number of days a student may miss per term (not enforced). So what else… Instructors are ⁵⁰⁄₅₀. Some good, some bad (that goes for theory and clinicals). Too much Drama between students and some students and instructors! Affairs with students etc… Yeah that is real! I would just like to get the quality education one would expect for $ 30 000 for a Nursing course. So rate this as «SUPER GHETTO FAB!»
