Resort At University Park

It was fine except maintenance would never come when we’d fill out a request and submit it through their website. For 4 years every single time we’d request some work to be done, no matter how minor, they’d always have to be called or reminded before taking any action. They also screen all their calls now through some automated machine. It’s rare you get a human being anymore to answer the phone. Then when you do, they claim they never heard it ring. This wasn’t a problem until 2014.
Then, after moving out, they sent us a bill for $ 950.00! All sorts of bogus claims such as $ 20 for sweeping our garage (which we swept a few days before leaving), $ 550.00 to repaint the walls, $ 250 to clean the small 2 bedroom apartment under 950 feet! Also tried to double charge us for water, sewer and trash which are added every month to the rent. When we got the bill we were in shock how rude it was worded and we were told we have 9 days to pay via money order or cashiers check before it goes to a collection agency. What a way to treat a School Psychologist and Engineering Draftsman both in our 50’s. We are not the typical college kids who live there and have loud weekend drinking parties. We were perfect tenants. Kept things tidy and always paid our bills on time. I even took 20 pictures the day before we moved out and sent them to management, but they insisted on lying to us and trying to milk us for every penny they could because we moved out of state.
A month before we moved out, some homeless guy was living under our stairs. When I informed management, they wanted nothing to do with it. Even suggested I lie to the police to get them to come and talk to him. The last 3 months we lived there I saw a green tent near the hiking trail where I took my 4 year old daughter. I pointed this out to management and they never even looked into it.
First year we were there they had a drive by killer who lived in the complex. Police shot tear gas into his Resort at University Park apartment and killed him. I had to sit in the hallway with my 2 year old as I listened to gunshots and watched the news live on TV.
Stay far away from this place. They change the amount you pay all the time. One month the garbage was $ 25, the next it was $ 45. Scammers.
