Need A Fix??? Home Repair and Remodel

When faced with the daunting task of fixing up our rental house to sell, I started the process of weeding through the lists of contractors. There were several small things that needed to be fixed or replaced, so I searched for a handyman. Need a Fix? popped up on Unilocal with good reviews, so I decided to try my luck.
Stephan came to the rental and together we went through the list I had started. As we went along, he made suggestions of what to add or what not to worry about. He had a lot of opinions as he once owned rental property and has experience in real estate. At the end, he quoted me a price and then came back the next week to get started.
I was really impressed with Stephan’s professionalism. I have heard so many horror stories of contractors who show up late, take long lunches, then leave early, or just never show up at all after taking the down payment. Stephan showed up early and kept himself on a schedule. He was efficient and detailed. He is also easy to get along with and we had a few laughs as I bemoaned the lack of care the tenants had for my house.
In the end, it took Stephan about two days to complete the list we made. He would call and consult with me when he got to something that wasn’t necessary or when he had an idea for another fix.
A couple of days later, when I received the invoice from Stephan, I was pleasantly shocked. What he actually billed was less than half of what he originally quoted. Other contractors would have stuck with the bigger number even after finding that the job took less time or cost less than previously thought. Stephan is incredibly honest and that is something that will have me coming back to him when it’s time to do some remodeling of our current home.

We entrusted Stephan to work on home upgrades to our 20-​year-​old house. His attention to detail is superb, and he takes pride in doing a great job. The walls with 20 ceiling look great!, he also installed a new convection oven over the stove, updated toilets, lighting, countertops and repaired the patio steps. It really impressed me how he helped by recommending things he saw in need of repair. And we liked how he provided options for various budgets. Highly recommend!
