Went here because it’s close to my house. I’ve seen it from the road driving by and thought-I need to try it because I love me some Mexican food. Went on a Saturday night and was shocked that they were not busy at all. The restaurant was nice and spacious. The menu wasn’t extensive but they ran the gamut on typical Mexican food. I ordered the pork and avocado burrito with rice and beans. The food was good-the green chili was hot-the rice and beans had good flavor. The chips and salsa was good as well, they had 2 types of salsa that I liked. The service was pretty good-had a waiter that was nice and attentive. The music in the bar area was a little loud but not bad and the crew at the bar was lively. The food overall was good and id go again-the reason I gave it a 3 is because the meal did not blow me away but the house margarita was not good. It comes in a glass-I was assuming we would have a margarita glass. I think it was just a margarita mix with tequila-most Mexican restaurants I’ve been to have a good house margarita but this one didn’t. I think if I didn’t get a margarita I would have given 3 and a half stars.

The sour cream enchiladas won’t qualify as gluten free or anything under«good for weight loss,» but l don’t care and they are worth every calorie! Sooo delicious! Another tasty salsa choice would really improve happy hour and overall meal experience. We call the mild one«ketchup» for a reason. The spicy-er one is very good! Service always seems to be a bit slow, but always good and attentive. 4 stars because of proves, the kids’ meals in particular need to come down(below $ 5 with a drink) in price big time. A cheese quesadilla over $ 3 for a kid is really not justifiable, anywhere. Less truly is more, meaning we would visit far more often if the prices were better, and that means more money and more business overall!

I just don’t get all the rave reviews. Food was bland and boring. If I didn’t know better I would guess it was a chain restaurant. Service, both times we’ve been there, understaffed, overwhelmed and deathly slow. Nothing special look elsewhere.

Ate here based upon a work colleague’s recommendation and was very pleased with my menu choices. Lovely space, great service and I loved the water feature when I walked in. Free wifi is always awesome and also like the warm chips and two kinds of salsa that was served as soon as we sat down. My dining companion ordered Tequila Lime Chicken and had never heard of the calavacitas, but it turned out to be a salad with cucumbers, corn and green peppers. While he was pleased with his choice of food, his ultimate verdict was that it wasn’t anything spectacular. But he did love the fresh lemonade he took as his drink choice. I ordered the lunch special of the Smothered Avocado and Pork Burrito which was as awesome as some of the other Unilocal reviews had mentioned. Loved the cheese(didn’t taste plastic) although I did think the pork was a bit too salty, but that is a taste preference and no way detracted from how delicious the rice and beans were. Very glad went here.

Colorado Springs is a dead town for foodies and as a New Yorker in exile I suffer greatly. This town is franchised to death so when an individually owned restaurant shows up it’s worth looking at. As it’s close to my house, I finally tried El Padrino tonight for a business dinner. Unfortunately, it was yet one more disappointment in this culinary wasteland. Not one person in our party of four finished their plate. That should tell you something. I ordered the sour cream chicken enchiladas. Weak flavor and dry chicken. Bland and blah. Having lived in LA for a number of years and enjoying some of the best Mexican food in the country, I was hoping for a great local spot. 2 stars for poor service and mediocre, forgettable food. I won’t be back.
