The worst experience I have ever had. Not only did I go in for my first ever pap smear and end up receiving a bill for $ 500, I was told I had to look up what birth control I wanted to use and call her back with what I researched because she did not know what my insurance covered. I also had to get swabbed twice because she didn’t know which swab stick my insurance would process. Apparently a pap smear isn’t «preventative» according to these associates. Never will I ever let anyone I know go here.

I was recommended Blue Skies by the mom’s group I’m in. I knew I’d be visiting as soon as I conceived, which just so happened to be in October 2013. They followed my pregnancy only to see that it was a blighted ovum and didn’t grow past five weeks(yolk sac, no heartbeat). That’s all well and good — it happens sometimes, I get it, but the options they offered me seemed to be biased toward a specific drug and they did not counsel me on the other viable options. They said they wouldn’t want to do a D&C because it’s so early, «they might not get everything.» Several other OB’s I’ve talked to, including a high-risk OB in a maternal fetal medicine clinic said that’s malarky — that that’s what pathology is for. They highly recommended I take methotrexate — an anti-cancer drug that keeps cells from dividing(including«normal» cells that rapidly divide, like the ones in your mouth). They didn’t offer any other alternatives and they said I should come back in one week for a final ultrasound and to get the methotrexate. Well, needless to say, I did some research… to find out methotrexate is also often prescribed for rheumatoid arthitis, it can cause your hair to fall out, and you can’t try to get pregnant again for six months after taking it(I do realize I will need to wait until I have at least two normal periods to try to conceive again, but putting chemicals into my body that may affect future fetuses and that will affect my current well-being did NOT sound like an option I’d choose if I’d known about other options). Another OB told me that I could just wait it out — that some women wait MONTHS for the blighted ovum to evict itself — and that that’s ok. She also told me I could take misoprostol to help speed up the eviction process — essentially induce labor. Either way, I’ve found a new OB and I’m hoping she will give me all my options and NOT steer me to a preferred treatment(for God knows what reason — is it $$?)

Highly recommend! I was new to the area when I found out I was pregnant and needed an OB. Throughout the past year and a half, the doctors here cared for me when I had pregnancy complications, then a miscarriage, then uterine surgery, and now with my twin pregnancy. I can honestly say that I have never felt so safe and cared for by any doctor, EVER! All of the nurses and certified nurse midwives are very knowledgeable and incredibly kind and caring. Everyone has a smile and is always willing to help and answer questions. I’ve had to call in and ask questions only about a million times, and I not only always get a prompt call back but the nurses(the awesome Debbie and Sara!) are patient, kind and gracious. Dr. Andy and Dr. Stephanie have both shown so much personal care and concern throughout the many procedures and hospital stays I’ve had. I think it’s rare for a doctor to be both personable, warm and caring but at the same time very professional and knowledgeable. I trust them 100%! The administrative staff at this office are also very personable and helpful ladies. I often have to bring along my energetic toddler to my appointments and he’s welcomed. Many of the ladies in accounting and reception make a point to come out of the office to say hello and ask how we are doing. It’s such a welcoming environment! I recently had my mom visit from out of state and she accompanied me to one of my checkups. After a few minutes there, she remarked about what a warm, welcoming, peaceful place it was. Not your typical doctors office. It’s just a good vibe that even a visitor picks up on. Expectant mothers who are seen at this office don’t always see the same doctor or nurse. This is for your benefit and it works out very well because you can be seen with more flexibility and get the appointments you need. If you have a doctor or nurse you prefer, you can ask to see them specifically! But they are all wonderful and it’s reassuring to know that if the OBs need to attend a delivery or something urgent at the hospital, they have a full staff of very professional, competent and caring CPNs/RNs to take care of you at the office. My family and I are SO thankful for everything about this place.
