I brought my family in last night at 6:50pm. First time, and last. The sign in front says to seat yourselves, because they have no hostess. The waitress was rather rude. She exclaimed that they were closing in ten minutes and hurried away. So we left. No big deal. I was a little creeped out by the place anyway. It looked dirty and old. But what restaurant closes at 7pm? The writing is on the wall. Much like the KMart next door, Big Train’s days are numbered.

Corn beef was delicious. The breakfast potatoes were too large of a cut for my liking, should have gotten the hash browns. But the staff was staff was attentive and friendly.

The food was bland and the service was mediocre. I’ve eaten here twice. Probably won’t do it again.

The best hangover cure in Colorado Springs! This is where the locals eat! I had the eggs and corn beef hash with biscuits and gravy which were really good. They also have red and green chili available. This place makes you feel like you stepped into that diner in the opening scene on Pulp Fiction. The waitress was fast with getting the food out to us and was friendly. I’ll definitely be back!

It is what it is. Don’t come for the décor. If you want a good greasy breakfast this is the place. Pancakes are really good.

Awesome. This place is exactly what I had hoped it would be. Driven by for years and now I regret not stopping sooner.

We went after the balloon rally on Labor Day. I don’t think they were expecting a crowd since the restaurant is far from Memorial Park. Our server was fantastic despite being obviously overworked and exhausted. Tons of good, filling comfort food and it was inexpensive. Old décor but clean & friendly and that is what matters.

So the décor is as old as the regular clientele, big deal. First time visiting, had an excellent simple breakfast. Scrambled eggs were perfectly brown just like I asked, hashbrowns were crispy just like I asked, bacon was perfectly cooked. Everything tasted great. Waitress was very friendly, order came out quick, and several people working there would pounce on our coffee cups with refills as soon as we were empty– that was actually pretty impressive. Good experience. Price is a bit more than I’m used to for standard breakfast fare– only negative thing I have to say about it.

Ew. This restaurant is like entering a time warp. I was the only person under 50. And the place was filthy. The grime covered mustard bottles on the table were enough to send me for the hills. If the condiments are that gross, I can OnLY IMAGINE how gross the kitchen is… One perk: Great view.

Your basic dinner style restaurant, seems to cater to the older/regular crowd. I sat at the counter and got to meet some«colorful» people. The food was average, price was average, but service was above average.

Definitely a neighborhood favorite. We were there when they opened at 6 am and were neck and neck with a bunch of regulars. This place has been here for ages so don’t expect anything special for décor. The waitress was friendly and attentive despite being somewhat outnumbered. I went for the biscuits and gravy with some eggs; a favorite measuring stick for breakfast joints. This place has the best sausage gravy I’ve sampled in the Springs. Nice sausage flavor with a good balance of salt and pepper; other places have been lacking in one of the three essential flavors. The biscuits were alright, nothing particularly special. I also had a side of grits instead of hash browns. These were nicely prepared and seemed like they came out of a nice fresh pot instead of being nuked to order from something made a week ago. All in all, pretty fair diner food at a fair price.

I won’t be going back there again. It was my first and last. It was just a drab dreary old place with windows that face a dynamite mountain range. But the waitress would not let us lift the blinds. GRRRRR It was the day of the Air Force Academy graduation flyover so it would have been nice to gaze at the mountains and watch for the Thunderbirds. She said management doesn’t like it. Whatevs My friend had liver and onions and they overcooked her liver. She just wanted it to be over she didn’t send it back. I

Ambiance: Step back in time to the mid-60’s. Very little has changed in this retro coffee shop, and the place has held up remarkably well with little renovation over the years, though it is a little tired. Lots of booth seating, and a decent sized horseshoe shaped counter. Service: Pretty lousy. Waitresses are some of the most unprofessional I have encountered in awhile. Had to ask for menu. Had to ask for water. Had to ask for water to be refilled. Had to ask for check. Not so friendly either.(Note, while I was sitting there, a barefooted woman jumps out of a running car from outside, comes inside and asks for an application — Funny thing is she seemed very similar in type to the rest of the waitstaff there.) Food: I like good retro coffee shop and diner food as much as the next person, but this is awful. Soup was canned. Fried chicken was overcooked. Mashed potatoes were bland. Served with canned fruit. Maybe breakfast is better, but I won’t be back to find out. Overall, a place that could be somewhat decent. Bad service and below average food makes this place a «no go» for me in the future.
