One of the best in the Sekisui family of restaurants. Our favorite place to go when hit with a sushi craving. If you are in Collierville or travelling, stop by and enjoy. Ask for Margie or Megumi who will provide you outstanding service. Sushi guys international

I went for the first time and everything was fabulous. Each of us commented that it was the best sushi we had in a long time.

Okay, people tell me I need to take into account the area when writing reviews but that’s hard to do. I eat out a lot and I eat my fair share of sushi so to me, Sekisui is really below average. We came in a large group so we were able to order an assortment of things from the menu. Their sushi menu is on a dry erase piece of paper so you can mark up which rolls/pieces you want with your name next to it. They should provide an eraser or something… I had to use my chopstick wrapper. Regardless, overall, the sushi did not taste fresh. I had a hard time trying to swallow some of the sashimi pieces because I didn’t want to waste. However, eating questionable raw fish draws a fine line. Some of the appetizers were fairly decent though. — Soft Shell Crab: Crunchy, deep fried crab, with a hint of spice– it was pretty good — Spicy and Sweet Shrimp: This was also pretty good(being the sauce)– the tempura was a bit soft and doughy(not good) — Sashimi Salad: Some sashimi pieces were edible, some weren’t– i enjoyed the grass it came with though — Yellowtail Jalapeño: not flavorful but if you enjoy yellowtail and jalapeño, you’ll like this dish — Tuna Tataki: okay, not memorable — Tuna Spring Roll: pass, don’t waste your stomach space — Sauteed Asparagus: Sad pieces of asparagus on a small plate asking to be worth $ 5 — Hot Rock: Okay, this was pretty cool, get this — Rolls and Sashimi Pieces: Fish does not taste fresh at all. Maybe that’s why they give a bigger cut of fish vs the other sushi restaurants. They have the option of brown rice which is nice though. — Mochi: they need to defrost these out a bit more– definitely store bought Note to self: Don’t eat sushi in Memphis.

Just arrived home and instead of my amigo roll and shrimp tempura with my fried rice I have 2 salads. I’m steaming and they are closed.

My mom and sister picked this place for lunch and I said why not. My coupons work in every location, even if the menus are not the same at each place. This particular location also has its own rewards card that only applies to this location. I’d get it if they all had different stuff and menus so as not to feel like a chain… but it kind of feels more like a bunch of places with the same name came together in a pack to rename themselves so as to avoid confusiong. Like as if all the La Hacienda’s in Memphis renamed themselves to indicate location as well without being anything like one another beyond their shared name. Anyway, weird commentary on their names over, I just wasn’t impressed with this place. I still have the fried rice in my fridge and feel no compulsion to sneak a bit here and there like I do with the fried rice leftovers from Stix. The food was just ok though their gyoza was possibly some of the best in Collierville and we didn’t try any sushi. I took a risk and tried the katsu dish(figuring a fancier place would do a better job) and have just come to the conclusion that I like Paula Dean’s version better, authenticity be damned(though what do I know, her version has mirin and dashi and if I have to go to the Farmer’s Market to get ingredients then that seems pretty freakin authentic to me). The miso soup here has something extra floating around in it though I didn’t have the chance to see what it was. It was different though. They have hibachi but it’s not on the menu. Apparently this place is pretty popular as it filled up while we were eating dinner. But for me, it’s just ok. Loved; — Gyoza — Steak(beef?) Hibachi — Tempura Yam Ok: — Chicken Hibachi — Clear Soup — Fried Rice — Tempura Zucchini — Teriyaki Salmon Disliked: — House Salad — Miso Soup — Tempura Mushroom — Tonkatsu

After having an amazing meal here back in February, I came and ordered takeout from Sekisui in Collierville. I ordered steamed Shumai, and the Sushi Supreme with a Spicy Tuna Roll. I asked the server if any fish roe would be served with the meal as I am not a huge fan of that particular offering. I was told«no…no fish eggs». When I got home, I had a roll full of Salmon Roe. Additionally, when I order a sushi sampler, I expect to get all raw fish. Instead I received cooked shrimp, and cooked eel. Neither of which I mind, however, they should disclose this prior to ordering or in the menu. Much of the dish that was offered last night was quite fishy also so I am thinking it was a bit old. The spicy tuna roll was so spicy it could not be enjoyed. I have never had a problem with spice, and I enjoy quite a bit of wasabi paste in my soy sauce, but this was a bit extreme. I also asked for low sodium soy sauce(fully expecting the packets of sauce), however, I was not given any. I am very disappointed in my experience last night.

California, amigo & flaming rolls. Not bad, my daughter likes the California and flaming. Flaming did not have much visual appeal(maybe a wasabi mayo drizzle or something to breakup the full color on top). That being said, the flavor wasn’t bad. Amigo roll had really good taste. Overall, a good selection and variety, but Sakura in Germantown is much better based on this one visit.

It’s the best sushi you’ll be able to get in Memphis. I mean, we’re pretty far from any bodies of open water, so «fresh fish» is kind of relative… That said, they do a pretty good job, but always check your food before you leave. A couple of times when I ordered take out, there must have been a language barrier, so I didn’t wind up with what I ordered. Have not dined in, but the décor is pleasant. They stop serving lunch at, like 1:30, and dinner at 9:00, so go early! This is my go-to for sushi.

Awesome! Great food and excellent service. The sushi was the best we’ve had in the vicinity. Our server, Meg, was attentive and gracious. She gave us a few samples of delicious sushi and desserts. Definitely headed back.

I will start by saying that I am a native Memphian and LOVE Sekisui’s food. I come back in town once yearly and must always have at least one meal here. I prefer the location off Humphreys but ordered take-out from the Collierville location tonight. Never again. First, whomever took my order either did not care or was a complete moron as I had to repeat myself numerous times and she STILL got the order incorrectly. And this was at 10pm on a Saturday and they were NOT busy. To make matters worse, when I got home and discovered the order was incorrect, I called to have them remedy the situation as they argued with me over what I ordered. AND I ordered a RedBirds roll specifically because it is supposed to be completely cooked(I am pregnant and should not eat raw fish) and they gave me some roll with raw tuna. When I asked that they fix my order they said they could no longer fix at as they were now closed. It was 10:22ish and they close at 10:30. Terrible customer service. I will never give this location my business ever again. Save yourself the headache and go to a different location.

We come for the beautiful waterfall and the hot udon. I’m not reviewing their sushi as I prefer the soup. The udon is flavorful with lots of thick noodles and a nice broth. I ordered the tempura with it which was hot and crispy with lots of veggies including broccoli, onion, potato, carrot, and zucchini. What a variety! Service was attentive and friendly. We came early on a Friday and the place filled up quickly. I enjoyed the ginger dressing on the romaine salad as a starter. Our toddler enjoyed the miso soup and teriyaki chicken which are pretty healthy options for kids.

We eat here often because my mom gets 25 dollars off coupons with 50 dollar purchase somewhere off the internet. I don’t know if it’s because we use the coupons or they run low on a sunday, but last time we ate here, the sushi wasn’t uniform at all. The end pieces barely had any topping on them. When I eat sushi, I expect all pieces to be the same. That being said, the stone roll has always been my favorite. The winchester roll with the jalapeño on top is very good also. The caterpillar roll is good if ya like eel. We like going here because of the discount and the close proximity of our home, but they have a lot of catching up to do if they want to get my business from sakura, which I think is the best sushi in Memphis. The service has always been good and we always tip to 20% of original ticket

Okay, this Sekisui has the best sushi chef in the area. His rolls and nigiri do not have as much rice as the other places around town. The only questionable thing is that the sashimi slices are on the bigger side, but I’m not going to complain about getting more fish! Just saying if you are looking for authenticity. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu already. My favorites are steak teriyaki and katsudon. Nabayaki udon is great sometimes. When they use clam broth to make the soup base, that’s when it is the most delicious. But I’ve only experienced that like once or twice here! The service here is also great. Ever since the service level of Osaka dropped, I find myself at Sekisui much more often. Next on my to try list, ramen!

Being born & Raised in Japan, I’m little picky about Japanese food. After living in the states for awhile, I’ve split«Japanese» food in US into American-Japanese & Japanese. This place was close to Japanese food you can get as one in Japan. I’ve tried Chirashi, some nigiri & rolls, and Tonkatsu(pork cutlet). All were good. If I needed to get my Japanese fix, I would definitely go here. ^_^

For the 2nd time we dined here, 3 of four meals were delivered, and the one person was left sitting at our table without a meal. Everyone at my table was done before my meal came. The food is good, but the experience is horrible. The waitress felt bad, and was very nice, but couldn’t even get a hold of the manager — because he was the sushi chef, and was too busy! She ended up giving me a discount($ 3, really?!) But two dining experiences so far here were really bad.

Excellent sushi! I usually have nigiris, not rolls, so I can really tell the difference in the quality of fish. And it’s all good. Been a regular at this restaurant for a while and never been disappointed.

My wife and I came here for our Anniversary dinner and really enjoyed our meal. The food presentations we saw while seated at the sushi bar were incredible. This sushi chef really knows his stuff. While the rolls did not have the girth of some of the local competition all were very tasty. The tempura was very good as well. All in all this has become our favorite local sushi place.

Alright folks, food was good edamame was fresh this time. But the service was terrible. First she took my soup away when I had only eaten half of it, then got our order very wrong, we’re trying to be nice SO we agreed to keep the wrong items without sending them back, every one makes mistakes, but unknowingly to us, the 2 menu items she brought us were more expensive and she billed us the high price! Then said she could not bill us for the original thing we ordered because we ate it! We did it to save her trouble! It was not what we wanted! Man she was pissed! I said this is not a big deal! Ii am just trying to be fair. It was weird and awkward and even though I am a regular I am afraid to go back because she might spit in my sushi! Food here is great but maybe some service training would make things perfect! It was weird and maybe I should have talked to management. And sadly, I guess I won’t be going back :-((

Good sushi, the others in my party enjoyed the teriyaki. They got out the food to my son first without us having to request it. Service was great. Sushi was fresh, even my toddler enjoyed it(and he doesn’t normally want to try my sushi).
