Opened in 1970 this airport was licensed for public use. at that time. Then, 3 years later, the City of Collegedale began operating the field as a municipal airport. The airport was originally called Collegedale Air Park and has undergone many upgrades over the years since opening, including having its runway paved and a hanger built. They also built a new terminal building in 2002 and then, in 2008, it’s runway was lengthened to 5003 feet. Furthermore, they offer personal tours and a flight school here for those interested in flying. Collegedale Airport is also a great place to come visit if you just want to come and watch airplanes. So come and get a close up look at airplanes and maybe even take a ride. Just called the airport for details.

#Yelp #Yelp36518 — Small is an understatement but this single runway airport has a very kind staff at the FBO with a loaner car. We arrived from Dekalb Peachtree Airport and were in downtown to eat within 15 minutes. The airport is a good location, clean facilities, and allows me a great place to visit a city for lunch and practice flying.
