I think they have a smaller beer selection than specs, but I like a lot of their options better.

Okay here we go College Station, this one is for you. As the Unilocal King of College Station(LOL!) yes my reviews do come up first on Google. Seems natural when you eat at and review everything in a pair of cities over 8 years, they probably should. People always ask me «What’s your favorite?» and I then ask«Favorite what?» I do have some favorite things that I don’t actually Unilocal about. Mainly because I want a seat. Veritas private chef tastings are one of them. The store manager here Brent hosts a private event once a month and you have to sign up for it in the store. It’s called 101. They literally take down your request on paper and E-Mail you if you get a seat. I’ve gotten seats every time when they have been full to sparse. Some of the time you don’t even get the E-Mail reminder. So you have to remind yourself. Seems plenty of apps out there to do it. I will review some previous events if I find time, like with New Republic Brewery and Southern Star, but tonight was Wine 101: Napa Vs. Sonoma. A group of about 12 tasted 8 types of wines, 2 white from each AVA, 2 Pinot Noir and 2 Cabernet one of each type and AVA respectively. The wines ranged in retail prices from $ 15 to $ 28 I believe. Attending the class gives a 10% discount if you want to buy any of them. We bought a Sonoma Cabernet from a label I had never seen nor would have tried unless tasting it first. To me it was a wine worth $ 35 a bottle at $ 15. The nice thing about a classroom is that you are provided with full documentation, pens, in our case 8 crystal glasses tonight, full question and answers and a casual unrehearsed free education, by in this case tonight, the store manager that has been here since this location opened. So there you have it. One of my favorite things in Aggieland. The next class is Italy and while we have signed up I am concerned that the Piedmont region produces so fine quality Barbara, how can they afford to do a tasting of that region, free as always? Class after that in September is Tequila 101 and that one looks like it’s gonna book fast. Should be loud near the end as well. Now one of my favorite things that I have never spoken of on Unilocal, intentionally, is out.(This might be a test) See ya there perhaps? ;) I’m signing up on everything through Christmas if they will let me.

I shop here for the experience. The staff is friendly and informative. The prices are about the same compared to the neighboring Spec’s but they offer great deals all the time! I regularly pop in to check out their new specials. They recently hired a guy, Scott, who really knows his wine. He can help you pick out a nice bottle or two. If the deals don’t draw you in, the tasting bar will. I plan to sign up for a tasting soon!

This place when it first opened up was fun the employees were cheery and helpful, and it felt comfortable to shop. Recently new employees have been hired, with almost the entire old staff gone, and the atmosphere has become awful. I feel uncomfortable to shop there. The employees stare at you the entire time as if you are a criminal. If the attitude doesn’t change I think this place will go out of business with Specs a block away, which has a much better atmosphere at the moment.
