Good lunch buffet, and great views of campus. Sometimes it’s crowded and that makes the restocking of buffet food slow. I like the variety and food is good quality but personally it’s a little expensive a quick lunch

I have been to The Univ. Club twice: this is a review of both experiences. My first visit was with a visitor and two colleagues for lunch. I made a reservation, but they somehow decided not to honor it. The reservation was clearly printed on the hostess’ registry, but 45 minutes after the reserved time we chose to hoof it to Chef Tai’s food truck. The place was crawling with undergrads(to the point of a fire-code violation I am sure) which may have been distracting the hostess. After emailing the chef they promised it wouldn’t happen again and offered to comp the next meal. Which they didn’t. The second time I also brought a visitor and it was significantly less crowded. We opted for the buffet which was ok, but not outstanding. So the average of the two experiences is 2*, with 0 for the first time and 4 the second time, with one star being for the panoramic view. They could do a lot better. But probably they don’t need to, as it is the only place on campus that can serve alcohol without a member of the local constabularly present. I heard that it is technically off-campus as only the first 10 floors of Rudder Tower are on campus, but this may be urban legend.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to choose from the a la carte menu for my lunch, but have a feeling that it would have raised my rating. We had the lunch buffet and while it was a nice spread, it was a little underwhelming, especially for the setting and the fantastic service we had. The view and the staff were great and that’s why added another star to the rating. The buffet had a nice selection for the salad and then they had, I believe three entrees, one vegetarian, soup, and a couple of desserts(lemon bars and cookies). I can’t remember what the other two entrees were(including the vegetarian one), but I can remember that they didn’t sound very appealing to me. I ended up with the turkey and cornbread. The turkey was a little on the dry side, but the cornbread underneath was very nice. I did have a lemon bar, but the lady I was lunching with did not, so it made me feel like a fatty, but I needed a little bit more fuel to make it through the rest of my day… and let’s be honest, I can’t pass up a lemon bar. I love them and should really learn to make them… or not because then I’ll really feel like a fatty then! The lemon bar was nice, but not the best one I’ve ever had… although good news it wasn’t the worst one I’ve ever had. Overall, not bad, but I’m certainly glad I didn’t have to pay!

I love the University club and just wish I could go more often. I’ve only been there for lunch, but the food has been great every time. I particularly enjoy the«A la Carte» menu, with my favorite being the«Grilled Angus Burger with Rosenthal Bacon, Redneck Cheddar, and Hand-cut Fries — $ 8.» Check out their web-site for current menu items. Note that upon request you can have Kosher, halal, gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and sugar free options. The lunch atmosphere is very relaxed — you’ll see people in suits, business casual, and just plain casual during the lunch time. The view is amazing from the 11th floor of Rudder and its worth going around the floor to see the views from all sides. Highly recommend taking visitors to the city there!

To add to my previous rave review, Chef Alan DeViney & Staff knocked the ball out of the park so to speak with our wedding reception. The custom designed tacos and dishes were enjoyed by all and our request was full filled for something people will«always remember». If you’re having a wedding in Aggieland, most certainly consider having your reception here. Angela Riggs and Nydia Riojas did a beautiful job with organization and execution to perfection. And it was quite affordable. They will always have our thanks. Now. Students. Do –not– be afraid of eating here. This is –not– some uppity high class expensive restaurant just for professors and cigar smokers. They have a lunch buffet prepared by Chef Alan DeViney that’s like $ 8 or something close to that. Maybe $ 10. But whatever, there’s no dress code, if you can wear it to class you can wear it here. If you like good food this is some of the best on campus because Chef Alan DeViney could be competing on Iron Chef America on Food Network. Seriously, he should be. Just go to the top floor of Rudder Tower. It has an awesome view too.

I stumbled up on this when I was looking for a nice lunch with a view. This is a restaurant at the top of the Rudder Tower on Texas A&M Campus. You have to pay for parking in a garage or find some other way to get there but this is a very nice place to eat with a terrific view and great place to bring someone from out of town. You will need to go online to see what the present menu is and to make a reservation as it is highly recommended. We had steak when we went and it was very good and comparable in price to a nice restaurant. They mention about other fees but there were no other fees charged. You can be in shorts but they should be nice. Expect to see many people in suits. Currently on website:(subject to change) The University Club will be serving a weekly buffet this summer, for $ 11.95 per person + tax and service charge. Cash and Credit Cards welcome. Sorry, no meals or Dining Dollars can be accepted. Entrees Marinated Flank Steak with Chimichurri Farm Raised Catfish with Roasted Pineapple Sauce Coconut Rice Grilled Squash and Zucchini Stewed Okra and Tomatoes Soup Smoked Black Bean Soup Salad Orange and Mango Salad with Lime Emulsion Romaine Salad with Garlicky Dressing Available upon request: kosher, halal, gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and sugar free options Lunch Monday — Friday 11:00 am — 2:00 pm Reservations are recommended.
