It’s a dog park. What makes it so special? The honest answer is nothing really. It is an old retention pond the city fenced off and made into a dog park. However, the paved walkways at the park are nice for walking the pooch. Sometimes the park can be hair & pop covered, but this is usually only during the semester. The positive is its central location.

The dog park here is fairly large, and fenced in. It’s in a good neighborhood. You can take your dog off the leash and let them run around freely. The people at this park are great, and theres always new doggie friends coming and going. However, there are a few things that I do not like about this park. First, there is no shade on the inside of the park to hide under while your pup plays. Second, there are two drainage ditches in the park at both entrances, which are very smelly and dirty. Finally, sense there is no shade and the smelly water and muddy parts are cool the dogs love laying in them and muddy holes they dig. But, sense there is a hose and drinking fountain right outside the fenced area you can rinse your dog off before you leave, and they won’t be stinky for the ride home! There is also a walking trail around the park to take a stroll while your pup dries. Overall, I like it, and my dog likes it. Just go early or later in the afternoon to stay out of the heat of the day.

I brought my dog here instead of the University dog park one day because I didn’t want to deal with a wet, stinky dog since my pup likes to swim in the nasty pond water. Well, wasn’t I in for a surprise when I let him in to this park and he found one of the TWO sewage drainage ditches there! Yes, folks, there are two of these wonderful toxic sludge-filled ditches running the width of the park for your dog to go stand in and lap up. I.was.pisssed. Thankfully, there was a hose to rinse him off before we went home. So now I have to choose between rinsing my dogs legs off or dealing with a slighty stinky dog unless I want to give him a full bath after every visit to the park. *le sigh* Now, if you can get past the thought of the toxic sludge, you are probably wondering about the dogs & their owners that frequent the park. I have returned a few times so I can speak on this. There is a group of regulars that convene in the middle of the field, and they all seem to be responsible except for one. A man continues to bring his big, black GSD to the park even though he attacks any pups that try to play with him. Sir, your dog obviously is not enjoying being there with the other dogs, so why bring him? That is a volatile dog and a very BIG one, at that. There have also been smokers there on occasion, although it is a non-smoking park. That irks me.

This dog park is basically a huge mud pit. Its a drainage ditch that has been fenced in and called a dog park. The park behind the Hilton on University is so much better, it has places to sit, water fountains and a pond for your dog to swim in. Also they have a few places to rinse your dog off after they get out of that pond!

Let your dogs run free! This is a really nice and clean dog park that is fenced. We visit at least once a week. It is large enough to let your dogs run, chase and play with other dogs. It is a popular neighborhood park and so there are always other dogs to play with. The park also has nice play scape for kids outside the fenced dog area. Our 1.5 year old loves the swings and slides.
