Excited to try this place out for lunch but was disappointed. The portion sizes were huge and the restaurant was clean, but that did not make up for the food. I got the ribs and they simply didn’t look like smoked BBQ ribs. They were almost white, as if they were simply boiled, and were very tasteless(no BBQ sauce or seasoning on them). The meat didn’t fall off the bones either. I would’ve chosen Rudy’s baby back ribs over these any day.

The Friday beef ribs are amazing. Be sure to order at normal lunch and dinner times for best, freshest BBQ. Most of the negative reviews are from imbeciles and wannabe food critics.

We like this place for many reasons: –great portion sizes –quick –friendly staff –kid friendly –lots of space –very clean Things we don’t love: –sides are often cold(I don’t typically have to blow on them to cool them off for my toddler-good for toddlers, bad for adults who want warm sides) –beans lack flavor and need more oomph! –macaroni is disappointing and looks better than it tastes –meat was very dry on our last visit(**note, this typically isn’t the case)

The worst. Had take out ordered rib and beef plate with two sides. Potato salad was more like potato soup. Could not tell the difference between the 2 meats. The rib meat/fat was in a pile the bones were in another pile and then there was a pile of chard rib meat. I ordered peach cobbler and found bits of green beans in it. I would rather of had McD,‘s ordered pizza for family and threw the 60.00 in the trash.

Tasteless ribs and brisket. The brisket is tender but taste like pot roast. Potato salad is bland. Beans taste like the just came out of a can. Son had turkey and pork loin both decent. Cost is not cheap I would take a pass,

It was a lot of food with unlimited bread. But i must say there was missing something«a kick». For me it was ok. I will say once in a life give it a chance maybe you like it.

Mmm BBQ! My Texan friends took me here so I could experience real Texas BBQ. It was quite tasty, though I have had better made at home by a Texan(who agreed that home made is almost always better). I had the smoked turkey, sausage, and ribs, with ranch potatoes and mac and cheese for the sides. The only disappointment was the ranch potatoes. Dispute how good they looked, they were rather bland. Salt helped, but over all, I would probably avoid them in the future. However, I would definitely go back! The staff was very friendly(and made lots of suggestions when they find out I was from Oregon), and the food was tasty. I would recommend it. :)

The food was okay. Brisket was nice and smokey in flavor. Sausage had a little bit of kick and was pretty taste. Mac and cheese was ok at best. Certainly not the best I have ever had. Beans were nothing special. I was expecting more flavor from the beans. Main reason this a two star review is the portions are small. I ate $ 15 dollars of food and was still hungry. I will have to come back and see if I can update this review with a better result. UPDATE: With the response tag from the manager of CJ’s BBQ I’ll have to run back and try the three meat option and see if it’s more filling.

Terrible bbq. I come from the bbq capital of Texas, so maybe I’m just used to good food. Don’t eat bbq in college station unless you are looking for disappointment. Brisket was bad and sausage was non-eatable.

The brisket was fork tender with just the right amount of smoke flavor. The surprise was the turkey usually not a fan due to dryness of meat but C&J had it cooked to perfection would go back just for turkey!

C & J catered a recent small event held at the Bush Library. The delivery was right on time, the BBQ was good quality(and plenty of it), the catering supplies(serving utensils, etc.) were good, and the price was very fair. I have never eaten in their dining room, but I heartily recommend their catering services.

I judge all BBQ places by their brisket. This is the ultimate litmus test for good BBQ in my opinion. Ordered the brisket sandwich. Received a decent portion on a bun. Added sauce at the table and selected pickles and onions from the fixins bar. The family all ordered burgers. Clean place, decent menu and hospitable staff. Brisket was just ok, wouldn’t order it again. Strong smoke, possibly mesquite, little to no seasoning. Skip it. The family said their burgers were good, really greasy. Fries that came with it were good but sparse. Overall, I would choose Rudy’s over this place, as this place is «just ok».

I’ve had Rudy’s and Dickeys BBQ in town, and I have to say C&Js is my favorite of them all! I like that they have a variety of sides to chose from,(Mac and cheese is my favorite) and the customer service is great! The workers are way more considerate and friendly than the people over at Rudy’s. Meat is nice and tender and they pack the sandwiches full!

This place is meh to the core. The chopped brisket was a sad sloppy joe and their cobbler was not great either. Friends ordered the pork ribs, chicken, and other things. Nobody raved. The crowd went mild. Won’t be returning to this location again.

They have great cheeseburgers for the price. Comparable to fatburger. 7.49 fire cheeseburger and fry meal. You’d b paying that same price at fast food for less than stellar food. Made to order.

We’ve been here before for barbeque and it’s always been good. Then we heard this place also had good hamburgers. My brother and I went here on a Saturday and both ordered hamburgers and fries and were not disappointed at all! Being the only item that requires a wait, the folks behind the counter would probably just rather serve barbeque that’s ready-to-serve. The staff will warn you emphatically that it takes ten minutes, but follow through and order them. They’re well worth the wait! They use two thin patties combined to make one big one. They’re juicy, well-seasoned and probably one of the best burgers in the area. The veggies are fresh and they’ve got a bar with jalapenos and other trimmings for the barbeque that go just as well on a burger. Note to sauce aficionados: There are two barbeque sauce on the tables… one of them is a larger bottle that has no label. That sauce is standard barbeque sauce not made by C&J. I observed an employee on this visit, at the tables, directly funneling the pre-made sauce into the bottles. It had a manufacturer label on it and everything. The other sauce that’s labeled with C&J’s logo(called«Flaming Lips») is «apparently» their own sauce that they prepare themselves. The bottle she was refilling that one with didn’t have any factory labels so I can only assume it was legitimate barbeque sauce. Regardless of their origin, both are very decent sauces and go great on everything! The food’s good here. You really can’t go wrong. The place is clean, well-managed, and worth a trip. There may be a slightly better option around, surely, but I like C&J all around. The unassuming burger on the menu may be one of this place’s best kept secrets! And the barbeque is awesome too!

Super clean restaurant with great service and consistent food. The jalapeño cheese sausage is delicious but I usually avoid the ranch potatoes – they look amazing but always turn out to be underseasoned with little flavor. And I’m not a big fan of the regular BBQ sauce either but the sausage doesn’t need it anyway and the flaming lips sauce is pretty dang tasty!

C&J is decent enough BBQ. It’s not great. Is it okay for a lunch, or something to pick up on the way home? Sure. But keep the expectations in check. Unlike lots of folks here, I don’t define BBQ entirely by the brisket. But this brisket is only ok. It can be dry, and it’s never nice and smoky. I don’t hate it, but it’s just not special. The best smoked meat — and I’ve had them all — is the turkey. It’s good. The other meats — the sausage, chicken, pork — are fine, I suppose. I don’t adore the sauces, and I don’t hate them. The sides are really forgettable. Two cole slaws are acceptable — I’d go with the poppyseed version. In the end, the place is ok. Do you want real-deal BBQ in BCS? Stay away from C&J and go to Fargo’s.
