I purchased a two part Groupon and went by today to pick up a call-in order– the Falafel pita sandwich for me and the Cold Cut sub(Italian) with a side of pasta salad for my husband. Sadly, both sandwiches were really bad; my husband barely touched his and he usually eats just about anything placed in front of him. My falafel was dry and chalky and the sauce was bitter, yuck! I took just a few bites, each bite tasting worse and worse. The Italian sub had no seasoning/dressing(as advertised), was dry, and full of onions. The pasta salad had too much pepper and even the pickle spears tasted off. I’m shocked and saddened as I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, I still have another Groupon to use here. Maybe I’ll try one of the pasta dishes. Not too excited to go back. They weren’t friendly either.

Ordered several things from this deli for what is my first order but probably won’t be my last for 1 reason only: the cheese steak The good: The cheesesteak was the perfect sized. Generously stuffed with steak. Even ordering delivery it was still warm. And the bread was just a plain french bread but it was substantial enough to hold onto to all the cheese steak goodness. They did mess up the order quite a bit. I asked for pickles lettuce and mustard as my only condiments. What did I get? Lettuce. Check. Tomato. Wrong. Mayo. Wrong and gross. And no mustard. Boo. After picking things off. Scraping the mayo out and doctoring it up with my own mustard it was good. The mediocre: The fries I ordered were decent steak fries. They arrived hot which was nice and a great amount of seasoning. It tasted like salt pepper and something I couldn’t quite figure out. Steak fries are not my fav which is why I say mediocre. The ugly: The mozzarella sticks were just bad. They cheese wasn’t even melted and the dipping sauce was ice cold. Lastly, the jalapeño poppers. Crunchy but no spice and the only flavor I got was a mouthful of cream cheese. Not a fan Delivery was within the time frame I was given and the delivery guy was friendly.

Ordered delivery through Grub Hub. Potato salad has large chunks of potato and an odd dressing of mayo and strong pepper and onion. Sandwich was small and a bit soggy, chips were soft. Delivery was good. Free roast beef sandwich had a piece of roast beef waved over it so more like a bread sandwich.

My first time ordering here, Delivery was a tad bit late but driver was friendly. I ordered the buffalo wings, greek salad and homemade lemonade. Wings were hot and crispy– delicious! Greek salad was fresh and loved my big cup of homemade lemonade. the only problem i had was the multiple short black hair i found on my celery sticks in my wing box… nasty… they need to assess that situation cause alot of us are dealing with it. other things i ordered were fresh and no hair found in them.

I have visited this Establishment twice. Once for delivery and once in person for pickup. I’ll start with the delivery. Before even seeing the food, the care with which they packaged our food was very thoughtful. Napkins and condiments were placed in small bakery sized paper bags which! ade it easy to find and distribute amongst out team. I ordered the pancake and western omelette. The pancake is very large and come with as an order of one. The perfect sweetness. The omelette was equally as delicious. Full of veggies, cheese, and ham. Everyone orders a variety of breakfast items and enjoyed them. My second visit was I’m person. The store has a great bit of seating. Be careful of the rugs at the register… It was a little more frantic this date. Many orders were incorrect and there was no change in the register. This didn’t affect customers as they rounded the change due to the next dollar. There seemed to be confusion on who took orders etc. The staff were very pleasant in spite of what was happening in the store AND our food was correct. Amongst the team we tried the BBQ sandwich, hot wings, cheeseburger, the pancake and bacon. Everything was delicious. I personally had the cheeseburger with chips. Thanks for the pickle spears! That made my day. They currently have a Groupon going. I will definitely take advantage and try some of The delicious sandwiches on the menu. Or maybe a salad if its not my cheat day yet :)

Tried there steak and cheese sub. Definitely better than the steak and cheese from the little small carryouts.

I have eaten here quite a few times. I usually order through GrubHub and go in to pick up or even dine in. Up until today, the food has always been good and the service was ok. Today, my coworker and I ordered delivery to our office. Not only did we receive plasticware and napkins, which we requested they NOT include due to the fact we do not have recycling service at our office, my coworker’s pasta salad was not included, my grilled chicken ceasar salad was wilted and brown with traces of carrot, bell pepper, and onions(to which I am allergic), my breaded zucchini was soggy from having sat in the container for too long, the ranch sauce was coagulated around the inside of the container as if it was old, my lemonade tasted like clove and sugar. The only part of the meal that was actually edible was my coworker’s sandwich after she removed the wilted lettuce and tomato. When we called to let New York Deli know that the pasta salad was missing, and happened to mention that we had requested not to receive paper and plastic products, the woman who answered the phone was not overly friendly and snapped that if we don’t want plasticware and napkins we should just throw them away(which is exactly what we wanted to avoid!). She informed us that she contacted the driver while we were on hold and found out the pasta salad had fallen out in her car. At the time we called, the driver had only been gone about 5 minutes, about long enough to get downstairs to her car. She returned 15 minutes after we spoke with the restaurant with warm pasta salad(which has a mayo-based dressing). The driver was not very professional, and obviously more interested in our office candy dish than in delivering the order correctly. After explaining all of this to GrubHub, our order was refunded, and I will never eat at New York Deli again.

I used to like this place, but it’s really gone downhill. Some of the sandwiches are decent, but they overdo it on the condiments(lettuce, in particular) in a pretty obvious attempt to skimp on the meat and make the sandwich look heartier than it is. I was willing to overlook this until they overcharged me $ 2 on a delivery(they said they had a new person working that day) and promised to take it off the bill before it hit my bank. They did not. According to several other online reviews of this place, this tip/delivery game is something they play quite frequently. Ashleigh(the owner, who posts her own positive reviews online) said that they gave the driver the extra two dollars because I didn’t tip enough when the driver took two full hours to deliver my food(no phone call either). When I asked her why she promised to take the $ 2 off when she clearly had no intention of doing so, she proceeded to explain to me how difficult it is for their drivers to make deliveries to my workplace and advised me to tip more regardless of the delivery time. Instead of making excuses for their incredibly slow drivers, they should try hiring people who deliver with some sense of urgency. 90 minutes to two hours is too long to wait for the delivery of a single sandwich from a deli that’s less than two miles away. As for the interior of the deli, it could use a good once-over with a soapy scrub brush. I won’t be ordering or visiting again. It isn’t worth my time or sanity to fight this two-bit«deli» for $ 2.

The sandwich I got was a crab cake sandwich, it was soo delicious that I’ve been wanting to make a trip back over there. It was my first time ever and I fell in love. Only problem I have is that the bathroom wasn’t clean and as a pregnant who frequently urinate, i was forced to hold my pee until I got home.

The sandwiches are good. My sister and I got the crab sandwich and the new York deli sandwich. They were skimpy w the chips but whatever… I gave them one star because 1. The bathroom was really dirty and 2. the employees are shady fucks. I left my purse in there and soon as I realized I gave them a call. It wasn’t even 10 mins after I left. The cashier who took my order and gave me my change($ 19) was the one who answered and told me she would hold it for me… I felt a little uneasy because she had watched me put my money in a little pocket on the side… lo and behold, soon as I walk in and get my purse I checked for my money and it was gone. I know she took it because I asked if anyone else had entered and she said no, when I informed her that my money was gone, she goes um actually I am not sure if anyone else came in.
So yeah while they’re sandwiches are good, make sure you have everything before you leave or they will ransack it for loose change

Tuna salad was extremely over seasoned with salt and pepper to point it was inedible. Most disturbing thing was the MULTIPLE black hairs I found in the tuna and the potato chips. GROSS. First and last time I will buy here.

Discovered this small dive via Groupon and have since introduced my friends to it. I usually get carry out. Food: 4 Price/Value: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 2 Food: 4 I have two go-tos: Philly cheesesteak and Maryland crab cake. These sandwiches are really simple(with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo), so the ingredients shine through. Orders come with some chips and a pickle. Price/Value: 4 A sandwich is ~$ 8.00 w/o tax, but it’s a lot. Service: 4 The servers are welcoming. Atmosphere: 2 The place is kinda run-down. Tips You Should Know: Look out for Groupon deals! Would I recommend? This place is a hidden gem. People obviously don’t come here for its classy décor. The food is good so come for that — I would recommend getting carry out.

Well let me start by saying this was my very FIRST time going into this place. As you walk in, it looks like a hole in the wall type place but as u keep going to the right there is a sit-down restaurant style seating area that has a very homely feel to it very nice! I kinda had in mind what I wanted but as far as a menu it seems as if only there sandwich menu is posted above the register. There full menu is posted as u walk in on the glass window. The staff is very easy to talk to and very nice. Now for as what I ordered I got the pastrami sandwich with mustard and pickles with a side of fires. I must say this was the first time I ever ordered a pastrami sandwich and I must say it was DELICIOUS as far a the french fries they were steak cut fries that were pretty well done in the fryer which made them even more DELICIOUS with the side of ketchup given to you. Just remember this is a hole in the wall place that is a diamond in the sand. From what I can tell you this place is great the only reason why I give it four stars is that it could use a little bit more advertising and a a little remodel. But the food is A+ and I will be going back again!!! THEFOODISDELICIOUSAND I WILLBECOMINGBACK!!!

The falafel is great! Served on nice fresh tasting pita bread. I ordered in to pick up and it was ready in about 15 minutes. Mozzarella sticks were pretty standard but good. It was raining pretty hard today and the ceiling was leaking right onto the counter. From the look of the ceiling this leak has been happening for quite some time. Definitely wouldn’t want to dine-in.

I decided to give this place a try on a whim, on a sick day at home from work. The best thing about this«New York Deli» were the mozzarella sticks. I shouldn’t have had them, but I was craving ooey-gooey cheesy goodness… however, I got something else all together: disappointment. The sticks, they’re only redeeming quality, were too overcooked. I found the macaroni and cheese so pre-made and processed(just by the look & smell) that I didn’t eat it, and the knishes were good but dry. The only way I can think to describe the knishes is that the dough tasted older than the filling. The dough was thick and tough, not flakey. This was my first(and probably last) visit… unless I’m car-less and desperate for knish… However. I found a hair in my knish upon eating. I couldn’t update my review yet, so I went ahead and edited it. GROSS!

I ordered a Reuben that was real soggy on one side, On the plus side it had a decent amount of meat, but what I really didn’t like was getting short changed. Was with a old friend I Will call FFF. Can you guess What it stands for?

I can’t necessarily say that I was impressed by what I got from New York Deli… but I also can’t say that I absolutely hated what I got. You walk in, and you’re like… ok… greasy spoon? greasy hole in the wall? All I know is that it’s greasy… They have signs plastered on the front counter advertising name brand things they cook and sell. Like as if you taped up the Ore Ida bag from when you made those frozen french fries. Tryin’ to class up the joint? When I entered there was a regular talking to one of the woman behind the counter. I was like. oh… they have regulars… they must be doing something right and from reading the reviews before I went in– it sounds like this place does most of it’s business delivery. Which. makes A LOT of sense. OKENOUGH! You understand their appearance is severely lacking. I was there during breakfast and decided to order a few things just in case. I know that sounds odd, let me explain. So I was headed to Bethany Beach and knew that I wasn’t going to eat for a while– so I got stuff to take with me on the ride too so I wouldn’t have to stop. A bacon egg and cheese croissant A Bagel with Cream Cheese And Corn Beef Hash(ya know– easy things to eat on a long drive) Bacon egg and cheese croissant — So So Bagel with Creamcheese — Bleh… Bleh– pre frozen bagel — and not even philidelphia cream cheese. Just serve me name brand things when it counts. Corn beef hash– definitely out of a can. Eh sorry New York Deli — I don’t think I’ll be back realllll soonn.

I had such rave reviews of New York Deli, until just recently. After ordering from them once a week for the past month or so, via a third-party delivery site, I was very pleased. Their food is very good and really does remind you of some tasty eats in the heart of New York. They have a great variety of sandwiches and subs, not to mention the tasty potato knishes. Unfortunately, customer service just completely blew any good report on them. I ordered a sandwich from them, which as usual took a bit of time(they’re very busy). When I finally was able to look at it, they’d gotten the toppings wrong… including a key topping that made me order the sandwich in the first place. Phone tag between the delivery company and New York Deli, over the course of 45 – 60 minutes, with different stories from either… and all I’m being offered is «store credit on your next order». Worse, the manager«Ashley» kept going on with excuses about how this wasn’t their fault, this was the best they could do, and I should be happy seeing as I got a double-meat sandwich for cheaper than I should have. So yeah, thanks to «Ashley», this Unilocaler is going to warn people AGAINST using New York Deli. Sure, the food is good, but that doesn’t excuse horrible customer service and management that tries to pass the blame. If you’ve got nothing better to do, and want to deal with that sort of customer service, feel free. Otherwise, just go somewhere else.

I probably order from New York Deli once a week. First, the food is great. I have had a few different things, although as vegetarian I cannot speak to the meat items. The vegetarian options are delicious and extremely well priced. The meals are big enough to make a complete meal. Delivery is amazing. For example, last night I was told to expect delivery at 6:45(eta) and it came at 6:10… less than 30 minutes from time of order. The delivery guy is always friendly and even made sure I got my package left from the mailman in. I’ve only been in the restaurant itself once, and it’s not necessarily the prettiest looking place– but who goes to a deli style restaurant expecting fancy seating. The place seemed clean and the staff friendly.
