Framer’s Studio

I swung by Framer’s Studio on my way to work, expecting to drop off two pieces and pick out the molding in 30 minutes. Though I was the only customer there, it took nearly an hour to drop off the work. David really knows what he is doing and talking about, but he will take every opportunity to tell you about every possible detail of the framing that he offers. He even went on a mini-​rant about the acid content of matting to me. I do appreciate a master craftsman, but really I don’t need to hear about what the matting is made out of. He’s a sweet man, but very much meets the description of «old art professor» if you’ve ever met one.
So I return in a few weeks to pick up the art and I notice that one of the frames is a little dinged up on the corners. He insisted on rebuilding the frame from scratch (I didn’t have to ask) and he let me take the other piece with me. When the second frame had been redone, it was perfect. Both pieces turned out beautifully.
His prices are very reasonable. Good framing is not cheap, but I was surprised to find that Framer’s Studio costs about half as much as Michael’s, and you get a professional who has been doing this work for decades instead of getting a horror-​story botch job like I’ve read about from the bigger chains. If you get ValPack in the mail, Framer’s Studio puts out a coupon on rare occasion.
Lastly, the turn-​around time is not amazing. I was in no hurry, my walls weren’t going anywhere, and it’s just David and his assistant that work there, so I didn’t mind waiting a few weeks to get my art back. However, if you’re preparing for a gallery opening and need your stuff done in 48 hours, this is not the place to go.

My wife and I had never had a painting framed, but a friend had given us a wonderful painting of the stream near our old house in California, so we stopped by one day to check out our options.
Nothing special inside, just a front room with samples and a workshop in the back, but the owner knows his stuff and loves his work. Being newbies, we asked him to give us 5 different suggestions so we could see different options, and we decided on a mossy green frame that really accents the forest colors within the piece.

This place is not, if I dare a square! Framer studio has been my resource for any work in the related field. Thier work rocks!

These guys do great work. I have used Framer’s Studio for over 8 years and I have had stellar work done every time. David is super attentive to my needs and get the work done on time. I have trusted Framer’s Studio with very expensive collectibles that need to be framed correctly and effectively with UV protective Plexiglas and they always do it right the first time. I must have over thirty pieces of framed work from them and they hold up great. I even accidentally broke one once and he replaced it for free.
