A.B. Seed Farmers Market Garden Center

The prices can be a little steep, but this may be the only place in town that you’ll find many of these items stocked. The store carries a wide variety of fountains, including many stunners from Al’s Garden Art. There are all sorts of growing accessories and supplies, such as pots, trays, self-​watering containers, pesticides, fertilizers, organic supplements, vermiculite, perlite, compost, peat, supports, and so on. And then of course the plants, including everything from common landscape shrubs and vegetable seedlings to exotics like citrus, olives, figs, and brugmansias. The store has even carried biological pest controls like ladybugs! There are no plant guarantees, but there are often good sales and promotional offers available at the store, its website, and its marketing partners.

I’ve visited this store numerous times over the past twenty years, and I’ve always enjoyed the variety of items for home and garden. Bird houses, feeders, flower pots, planters, garden art, home décor, seeds, tools, plant food, and fountains. The list goes on. The green house is spotlessly maintained and full of unique, beautiful, hard to find plants. Today we ate at the Moose Café, next door, then followed a large yellow cat as he (?) sauntered from the restaurant to A.B. Seeds, into the front door and to the back of the store. He jumped up onto a bird bath and begin drinking the clean water that filled it. When he was finished, he walked back to the front of the store and outside again, passing a large white cat who seemed equally at home there. A.B. Seeds is located in the Piedmont Trial Farmers Market. I would have given the store five stars if the prices weren’t quite so high.
