The buying experience was great. Getting warranty work is a nightmare. We are having problems with the keypad lock that came installed on the trailer. The keypad had quit working. They ordered a new one supposedly when we took the trailer in to have it installed they had only sent the covers and not the whole keypad. you think that they would have checked the parts knowing we had an appointment for repair. They agreed to come out to the campground and change the keypad lock. The key was supposed to be mailed to us. Hands up the key did not work in the new lock at the old key did. They lied to us, it had never been changed. They came out and changed it again. the code we gave them to put in does not work. neither does the default code so we cannot change it. would never recommend this RV dealer because the service department is so bad.

Something doesn’t seem right with the service department. I bought a new sundowner horse trailer a year and a half ago from them. Husband noticed the tires on 1 axle wearing on the outer edges. The trailer has very low mileage, i only haul occassional short distances. Haylett service confirmed my axle was bent (as in I bought it brand new with a bent axle). We dropped it off mid december 2014 to diagnose and fix the problem and now it is mid february 2015 and no trailer yet. I have no idea what the status is unless we call for an update and the last update was a month ago. Supposedly sundowner will cover in full under warranty but I have yet to see Haylett or Sundowner produce.
Update: I called today for status of the trailer, they checked and returned a call to us telling us that the axle and tires will get replaced but they send the bent axle back to the manufacturer and if the manufacturer determines that its bent because we hit something then we must pay Haylett’s $ 600 labor cost for this work. Haylett made us agree to this before they would proceed with the warranty work. If I hadn’t called for an update today, my trailer would still be just sitting on their lot waiting for our agreement before they started the work. And, I may still be billed $ 600 for a faulty part. I will update this review with the final outcome.

Ok, I am officially going on a rampage right now! In Sept. 2012 I purchased my travel trailer from Haylett Auto & RV Supercenter in Coldwater, MI. When it was delivered it was NOT exactly as I ordered. The A/​C which was to be standard was not in the unit. The stereo which was to be standard was not in the unit. The outside light which was to be standard wa not on the unit. There was a bubble in the flooring and a tear in the seat cushion. There was nothing they could do about the A/​C and stereo units being installed without a big ass bullshit hassle and more $$ out of pocket. So I took the unit. After almost 1 year the flooring was replaced and new cushions received. Well, that is something to be grateful for I guess.
I solved the A/​C issue with a portable unit. It works but does cut down on the space available. Oh well, I’ll survive… it is just the point of the matter that irritated me and it took freaking FOREVER!
Well, it has been not even 2 full years and we noted cracks on the tires this last weekend. Two people pointed out that this is DANGEROUS! So, I called Haylett again. Well, it was no big shocker when the person on the other end of the phone told me, «that isn’t covered under the warranty.» Really? I’ve used this thing only about 6 times in 2 years! The furthest I’ve traveled with it is Dexter, MI!
Well, I called the manufacturer, Forest River. After several calls and being rerouted since there isn’t 1 number for the warranty department, but apparently 50, I finally spoke to a guy that again told me, «The tires only have a 1 year warranty. We can’t help you. You should call Lionshead tires and see if they can help you.»
Again, I made another call… ugh! What a waste of time! I finally got in touch with someone there. I reiterated the damages noted and the fact that the unit has been used very little! VERY little. Well, the reply you ask — take a guess — «Sorry, but my answer is the same as theirs. We only warranty the tires for 1 year. I’m sure they’ll be fine. Some cracking is to be accepted.»
ARE YOU FREAKIN’ SERIOUS?! If I am on the highway going 55 mph and the tire on the trailer blows, I could be killed! Someone else could be killed if I lose control!!! WTF!
Another example of someone passing the buck and not taking responsibility for a defective product. Well, if something happens let it be noted that a product liability suit will be drawn up against every single one of these businesses for not taking responsibility for a product they sell!
As much as I like my trailer, there is always that lingering feeling of getting screwed by the dealer initially, the waiting for the first warranty issues to be resolved by the manufacturer and now the tire provider giving me the proverbial finger for a defective product!
This is one customer who is not a happy camper!

Horrible service dept. Been waiting a year for warranty work.
