We met up with my husband’s aunt and her husband at Sharon’s and had a very nice meal. This is a plain olé country stop. It’s run by local folks and makes good olé country style food. I very much enjoyed their chicken fried chicken breast with mashies. They have a small and very simple salad bar that was OK. Hub says his catfish filets were really good and he seemed to enjoy his shrimp as they were gone in a flash. Service here is friendly and prompt. Everyone who walked in the door seemed to know the proprietors so it’s pretty darned authentic east Texas, that’s for sure.

My wife & I stopped here during a stay at Double Lake Recreation Area. She had a cheeseburger w/fries and said it was very good, reminiscent of a home-style burger. I had the Chicken Fried Steak sandwich, served open-faced with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. It was EXTREMELY good, I would definitely have this again. I think the CFS was cooked fresh(it didn’t taste frozen). The waitress recommended the Baked Potato with Chicken(her favorite). Cash and checks only, no credit or debit cards accepted(so stop by an ATM before visiting). Plenty of parking available.

Sharon’s was definitely a favorite of mine growing up! Everything I’ve had at Sharon’s has always left me stuffed and very fulfilled. They have great chicken fried steak, catfish, and even burgers. The service is exceptional, my glass is always full, and the waitresses often will start remembering your orders after just a few visits. Sharon’s is so good I have even had a few birthday dinners here and a everyone is always impressed. If you are looking for small town hospitality, Sharon’s is your place, but keep in mind, they also do not take credit cards.

I have to agree about the chicken fried steak. My husband says Sharon makes the best(other than mine… he’s a wise man.) I don’t know if they have grilled talapia, but I have the grilled catfish whenever we go and get either the regular or cajun seasoned and depending on whehter I’m being good or bad have either steamed veggies or a baked potato, There is a daily special and incredible desserts. Even the locals will tell you Sharon’s is the best place to eat.

This place doesn’t look like much but the food is excellent and very reasonably priced. The half order of fried catfish is enough for any person. I’d hate to see what the regular portion is. The evening we ate the traffic was light with quite a few carry outs. I’ve driven by at lunch time and the lot is full. Definitely a place to add to your places to eat out in this small little town. Not a lot of places to eat out here! Take your checkbook or cash as they don’t take credit cards. I think they’d have more business if they did.

I’ve been eating here for 5 years and in my opinion this is the best restaurant in Coldspring Texas. In fact I can’t believe I have never reviewed it before. This is a privately owned, small quaint place that is family run. And they have the best Chicken Fried Steaks in San Jacinto County. I suspect that their secret recipe includes a little honey. We ate here Saturday night and when enjoying the CFS(see photos) I suddenly realized that I have failed to tell all my Unilocal friends about this. My Dad had the grilled and Tilapia and it was excellent as well. We ate with a group of about 14 people and everyone was quite pleased. Lettuce on the salad bar was not as fresh as what you would find in a large city but that’s the way it is everywhere out in the sticks. If you are looking for the best food in Coldspring, look no further. Enjoy our photos.
