Visiting the First Baptist Church of Coldspring was an absolutely enjoyable experience and it was a pleasure to meet Dr. Don M. Shannon and his wife and music director Michael Douglas. (No, that is not a typo, hehe). We attended to enjoy a concert with the Master’s Voice singing group that had been at the National Quartet Convention. Congregation was friendly and enjoyable and we took note of the fact that this church is a Texas landmark with plaque out front that has been in service for over a century. In fact, it was founded when Coldspring was known as Coonskin in the late 19th century.
