Fun little place in Coldspring. Good food, live music, great ambience.

The menu says they are slow, Boy is that and understatement. A group of six of us stopped in for lunch, no others in the place when we ordered, and it took over an hour to get our food. The menu has a lot of snipes about their customer service that are supposed to be clever, but it all seemed contrived. Burgers were served dry and the waitress did not point out that there was a self serve burger bar, luckily we noticed. One plate did not come with the rest and we asked the waitress three times for the status… she seemed annoyed, «It IS coming.» Well it never came. It was never served. She forgot to order it. She never said sorry, although the cook did. My friend ate my cold leftover pizza. From start to finish it took us 1 hour and 45 minutes to get lunch here. Food was OK but not worth the wait.

This here is a prime example of what cool things can be found right near your own front yard if you open your eyes. After living within walking distance for nearly 5 years, last night I poked my head in here to see what it looked like. Someone gestured to come on in, so we did. While we were not planning on having a cold beer, someone suggested that we do, so we did. This is a really friendly grill with an adult beverage counter as well. I found an iced, and I mean iced COLD Dos Equis XX Mexican beer and a group of friendly folks that made it nearly impossible to pass by and not join them which we did.
Apparently they have an impressive menu as well. While we did not eat (too many Thanksgiving leftovers at the house) when I asked some friends and family if they have ever been in there, apparently I was the only one that had not. I didn’t even know they had a website but found it on a free fridge magnet.
Don’t accidentally pass by here when in downtown Coldspring. Right across the street from the San Jacinto County Courthouse, on The Square. 4 stars and two thumbs up!
