Coinjock Marina has the best crabcakes around! With a charming atmosphere and attentive staff, I enjoy coming here for lunch or dinner. Nice to have a romantic evening or casual lunch and walk along the pier

So many menu items came out piping hot and tasting fine, but they failed twice to do rare standing rib.

The fish sandwich had hardly any fish on it. The fries were burnt and the hush puppies had 4 in the basket. Not coming back.

After years and years of hearing great things about Coinjock Marina Restaurant from other Outer Banks locals, we finally made the trip(all the way from Kitty Hawk!). I truly wish we hadn’t bothered and I cannot comprehend how other people have given 4 and 5 stars. Totally lackluster food. I ordered the $ 22 Tuna special of the day, done medium. The only thing good about it was that it was actually cooked to medium. It was a dull gray slab on the plate, no salt & pepper or any type of seasoning prior to or during cooking. Topped with a thin white tasteless«dill & cucumber» sauce, which did nothing to infuse any flavor. What a waste of a piece of fish! Sides were a miniscule dish of canned green beans(although they apparently make a half-hearted attempt to reintroduce some flavor with pieces of bacon fat) and a twice-baked potato(reheated and overcooked — skin was like leather), and two measly run-of-the-mill hush puppies. Others at the table had fried chicken,(which had to have been straight out of the Sysco bag into the fryer — lacking any moisture or personality) and the shrimp/crabcake combo(shrimp overcooked and crabcake mostly fillers and crab shreds — no lovely big tasty chunks). All others’ sides were par with mine — out of the can/Sysco bag, a plop of bacon fat to make it appear some effort was taken to make it appear homemade… ugggggh. I am SOOOOO disappointed. I am serious when I say that we used to hear other locals RAVE about this place years ago — maybe have had a change of ownership or management since? Whatever the case — I advise you to spend your hard-earned dollars elsewhere.

We went there last Saturday night and were hoping to get wonderful seafood as it is right on a marina with a pretty view. It was nice they served potato chips as a free appetizer when you ordered. They were good and what you would expect from a potato chip. We ordered three appetizers the calamari, Tuna nachos and fried green tomatoes with crab salad. The calamari was the smallest order I have ever seen and was over cooked. The marinara served with it was not very good. We also had ranch served with it which was a good quality. The tuna nachos were strange. The tuna was a very unappetizing brown color. I thought it was from the super use of sesame oil and soy in the marinade. Or that’s what I hoped. Had the thought of boy hope I don’t get food poisoning as the color was weird. The taste was so so. Did not taste spoiled but like I said unappetizing to look at. The fried green tomatoes were the best part. The acid in the tomato and the creamy crab salad went well. The crab salad just tastes like store bought crab salad nothing special. It was pricey for the quality and serving. Also the tap water tasted strange. I am from virginia beach so I don’t know if it was well or what but I couldn’t drink it at all. So I would keep going maybe try the BBQ place down the street which was our second option.

My family and I went here for dinner a few nights after valentines day. Our food was horrible. Ive been there quit a few times and my food is never good but i keep going like an idiot. The hamburger steak was burnt and dry. The asparagus was still gritty and very over cooked. I think Im over this place. They make so much money but cant make decent food. Its a shame how much they charge for what you get. Our waitress was really good. She was very nice and did everything great. If they want to fix anything they need to fix the prices and hire a new cook.

Good place to eat. Kind of on the expensive side for what you get. Limited seating. Crab dip is yummy. You have to call ahead to reserve the prime rib… what?!

By far, this was the best food we at while at OBX! We had dinner on a weeknight and with no reservations, we were seated quickly. Our service was spectacular and our food and drinks were just as great! The clam chowder is a broth based soup and was delicious. The chips are complimentary and were so.damn.good! I had the catfish with asparagus and scalloped potatoes and thought that I had died and gone to heaven. The others as the table had prime rib and that too was super delicious. It truly is a diamond in the rough and is one that you should plan to eat at if you’re in the area. We’ll definitely be back!

Came here for a last minute dinner before leaving Nags Head. It was pretty packed but it didn’t even take more than five minutes to be seated. All the food were delicious from the complimentary chips and dip to my surf and turf steak. My crab bisque was the best I’ve ever had! The sides were great as well. My friends had fried chicken(which was a huge portion so you can’t go wrong with that) which was perfectly done. Mussels and crab cakes were also ordered and they were all perfect. Dessert was decadent!(Try the chocolate turtle cheesecake) Service was good and the atmosphere was nice. Highly recommend this place!

Stayed here aboard a boat on the way to NY. A great little spot to have drinks and tackle the 32oz prime rib… which the leftovers were enough for lunch the next day. And fuel prices at the dock are fantastic.

Sometimes the best things in life are those that come unexpectedly. This is the case of a UYE planned late this Sunday by Jim B. The idea to get a few Unilocalers together to join him in one of his favorite places. Myself, Emily O. and Jim B. with family and friends sat around a table for around three hours. We enjoyed great food, drink and of course conversation about Jim favorite topic of lingerie… NOREALLY! If you have yet to read Jim’s review of Victoria’s Secret it’s legendary. More importantly we got to say a farewell to Jim B. who is retiring and hitting the road in the next few weeks. This was the first time I had diverted a little over a mile off the highway to investigate Coinjock Marina & Restaurant. The joint is only about 30 minutes from the Outer Banks. There are a few large billboard signs that warn you when to turn. I go to OBX often and had always wondered about this place. So it was an interesting set of circumstances that led me to travel all this way to check it out. When pulling up to the place you get a comfortable cool vibe of the place that is right off the water. A gravel lot for parking and two structures. One larger for their main dining room and the other for bar. The exterior is wood plank painted red. A large back patio with wooden deck is off the bar. While setting outside you can admire a couple of the million dollar yachts parked just feet away from the restaurant. Our party was in the bar far right on an elevated platform area that accommodated nine of us. Our waitress Hannah was terrific the whole night and put up with all the Unilocal shop talk and constant barrage of photos taken of the food from every angle. The place was not busy the last hour, or so and we pretty much had the bar to ourselves to be as loud as we desired and believe me there was a few loud shouts WEEHA! I thought the place was spic and span and present nicely. It’s a lot bigger inside than you may think. I utilized the restrooms too and found them to not only be clean, but smelling fresh too. They have a full bar and a few selections of tap beer like Blue Mood, Yuengling and a local selection from NC. The bar was pretty cool, all wood and plenty of stools for a nice crowd. There are large windows across the back to take in the view of the water and if there in the evening like I was of a sunset. There were several food items ordered at the table. I learned from Jim and the waitress what was best on the seafood menu. I elected to have a house specialty Fried Green tomatoes with a crab salad on top. This is pretty hysterical that I elected to order this entrée for only the second time in my life. I just had the dish for the first time on Thursday’s Unilocal event at FM. It was fantastic, nice and crisp and flavorful. The crab salad however took it to a different level of awesomeness. Jim gave me a sample of his Flounder and it was incredibly fresh and prepared in a manner that I have never had… recommend! Our waitress stayed on top of our every need the whole evening and never let us have a need that was not addressed by her proactively being around the table at the right time. Before we all departed she was gracious enough to take a group photo with not only one, not only two, but three different phones. This is a unique find that is most certainly off the beaten path, but not a far path. Don’t pass on this the next time your heading to the OBX, you will regret it.

Many people don’t know the history. of the name or how Louie got the money to buy this place. He started out as a Hillsdale dancer. He still does a little when business is slow. The women would stuff coins in jock, hence the name. Its said that Louie still moves pretty good. Food is excellent and fuel prices are too.

Nothing we didn’t like. Came in in a Sunday evening with our three boys. Everyone’s food came out hot, fresh, and delicious. Service was outstanding. Fried clams, fried pollock, broiled platter, flounder special, and steamed clams. All was great. Green beans are amazing. Baked potato perfect. Great iced tea and cold beer. Perfect.

This place is most awesome! Great country and waterfront place. Cool deck outside. Great views and often large yachts tied up at the dock. The staff is friendly and helpful and checked on us often. I ate here a long time ago and had a 32 oz Prime Rib and it was the best Prime Rib I ever ate. I see they still have them and need one soon. I stopped in here with Monica on the way to the Outer Banks and had a most fantastic lunch. They have cold Yuengling on draft. We shared a salad with crab meat and it was loaded and delicious. Monica had a soft shell crab sandwich and it was great. I had the shrimp sandwich and it was most fantastic! We stopped here on the way back from the Outer Banks and got to see some football and have a great lunch — I had the crab cake and it was one of the best I’ve had. Monica had crab on salad and it was awesome. I took pics of my 2 recent visits and are posted here. Don’t postpone joy — go to Coinjock Marina Restaurant for some great grub, views and friendly people. A side note — I met a guy that used to work where I do — he was there in 1973. It is a small world.
