This is not your Golden Arches. There is no Ronald McDonald here. This Mickey D’s Restaurant is not fast food and is a non-chain casual sitdown restaurant located on a quiet street(Oneida Street) around the corner from the Cohoes Music Hall. Mickey D’s(formerly Big G’s Restaurant & Nightclub) serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner at fair prices, most menu items are under $ 10. They offer typical breakfast fare including eggs, omelettes, cinnamon French toast, pancakes, and sides. For lunch, it’s salads plus burgers, sandwiches(served with fries or onion rings) and dinner items include comfort dishes. Specials are also offered and Early Bird Specials are offered(4PM-6PM) for $ 9.99 including roast turkey, chicken parm, grilled pork chops, and roast beef dinners, which includes dessert. The dining area has very casual with bar counter seating and booths with valentine red colors and valentine’s decorations. There’s alsol a big TV to watch(news) near the bar counter. I stopped here for lunch recently and ordered the Rueben with Onion Rings($ 7.99), which is a house favorite here. This grilled Rueben sandwich was very good and tasty but messy sandwich to eat. This sandwich had very tender thin sliced corned beef, 2 layers of Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing on grilled marble rye. The onion rings were good and very crispy outside. Overall, I had a very good lunch, better sandwich than the other McD’s. The service was quick and friendly.
