Ace Home Inspections

I contacted Matt at Ace Home Inspections as a recommendation from my realtor, and although this was my second time buying a home, I had a far more informative and even enjoyable inspection this time around. Matt was very thorough and obviously knew what he was talking about. He was straightforward with both positive and potentially negative information, but all factual and to the point. I didn’t feel like there was anything about the house that was missed, and most of my concerns were addressed before I had to ask. When I did ask, he was helpful and pleasant. There were a lot of things about my first house that I felt the inspector overlooked or didn’t consider an issue, but became issues right after buying (such as electrical rewiring, pest infestations, and flooding in the garage/​basement). He was also really prompt and communicative beforehand, and was really flexible when I had a late flight home and needed to reschedule the inspection. I also got a copy of my inspection later that day, and he forwarded to both my realtor and other parties involved. He made the experience very easy and convenient. I would absolutely recommend him or contact him again if I needed another inspection.

Matt was everything boasted by all of his glowing reviews. He was responsive to communication, extremely knowledgeable and prompt. The whole inspection took less than two hours and he emailed everything to me before even leaving the house. I would definitely recommend him to anyone in need of inspection services.

The inspector is punctual, thorough and went above and beyond my expectations. He explained as he was going through the house and answered all of my questions. He provides any additional tests you need and you receive a detailed hard copy and electronic report the day of the inspection. I was mostly impressed with his help after the inspection. He is there for you if you have questions and is very responsive.

I’m in the process of buying a money pit (aka: a house) which is why my contributions to Unilocal have suffered as of late. Matt at Ace Home Inspections was recommended to me by my realtor and while I have nothing else to compare it to (which is why its only 4 stars, but really probably is 5 stars), I felt like he did an exceptionally thorough inspections (over 2.5 hours looking at a 2,100 sq ft, with over an hour spent in the basement going over electric panels, sump pumps, humidity issues, boiler age and venting, etc) and wrote a very detail report.
He also was great at explaining things to a newbie like myself. I must have stopped him a dozen times saying «I have no idea what you’re talking about» and he would break it down so that I actually left with a very clear picture of what is wrong (and right) with the house (apparently the plumbing work was really good, woo!). Matt also gave me enough information on the circumstances of the house that I was able to make decisions about what tests I wanted done and he agreed with my decisions (specifically, the basement was too wet to do the radon test so it would have had to be done on the first floor, which there was almost no chance of radon test coming back elevated on the first floor. He also advised me that because I plan on putting down a vapor barrier that any radon problem would be mostly remedied if there was a problem, but probably isn’t based on the location of the property).
If your realtor doesn’t have someone that she or he regularly uses, give these guys a try or tell your realtor to try ‘em out.
