Delicious and huge portions! We stopped in town overnight on our way from Seattle home to Montana. We went to the breakfast nook and were pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity. Wait staff is friendly and attentive, portions are huge. Omelettes are stuffed with filing, they don’t skimp on anything. The hashbrowns are thick shreds, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Toast is thick cut and made it to the table warm and perfectly toasted. They have kielbasa as a meat choice which my father loved. My ham steak was big. My over easy eggs were truly over easy. Prices are very reasonable. My only slight criticism was that the coffee was average diner coffee. Next time you are in need of breakfast in Coeur d’Alene, go to the Breakfast Nook.

First time at the Breakfast Nook and it was solid. I had the eggs benedict as its usually a good barometer of breakfast food. It was o.k. The ham(not Canadian bacon) was a rather pedestrian quality and the hollandaise was average. The high point of the breakfast were the hash browns. Large portion and really crispy. Prices were a little high but normal for this region, and the service was excellent. It was the end of November so I didn’t notice the place being hot as others have mentioned.

This is a good solid breakfast place I haven’t had too much of their lunch here but their breakfasts really good. They have a large selection of breakfast items and substitute whatever you want. I would recommend this place to anybody price is good food is great.

I was hopeful just because of the name. Greasy food, dirty silverware and very slow service. Ordered a cheese omelet and there was literally just a ball of unmelted cheese in the middle of an over cooked egg.

Quick service and a good brew to start you off. Plates are more than full and the staff is very welcoming. Definitely will be a returning customer!

My kind of place! Friendly local breakfast house with terrific quality food, friendly staff and plenty of room. Prices reasonable and location convenient to all of Coeur D’Alene. Amanda the waitress was super cool! When in town I’ll definitely be back.

Place is awesome! Really friendly staff, reasonably priced, and the food is pretty darn good. I usually sit at the bar counter and watch how fast the cooks get this stuff out, props to those guys back there! There are a lot of places that screw up breakfast food, this is not one of them.

This place is great. The staff are friendly and the service is excellent. It’s one of those places where your(excellent) coffee gets freshened up so often that you have no idea how much you’ve had. The food is tasty and the servings are ample. We were seated in a booth on the east side, which was too sunny for my taste. This will be a regular breakfast spot for us from now on.

It was a solid breakfast. Nothing unique or special, your usual breakfast choices. The chicken fried steak could have been more tender and the crust more crisp. But it didn’t disappoint, it just didn’t wow me either. Fast friendly service, local greasy spoon atmosphere.

I wish I could write about how great this place and its food is, but it is miserably hot inside. No a/c when it’s over 100 degrees out, and just as hot inside but more humid… Miserable. Its too hot for me to drink coffee, let alone eat a hot breakfast. Avoid this place in the summer if you’re heat conscious. I ended up ordering the only cold breakfast option, cottage cheese and fruit, only to be told a few minutes later that there is no cottage cheese left. My other child breakfast options? Lunch sandwiches. So in the end, I didn’t even eat.

Solid choice for breakfast! Nothing fancy, but well prepared food, organized staff. Handled larger parties well. We’ll be back.

Good reasonably priced breakfast. I love that they have lower priced smaller portioned breakfast, like you would make at home on a weekday. Basic diner style fair, nothing fancy. I received good service.

Mediocre at best. Good not great. Worst biscuits I have experienced at a commercial eatery. Heavy and pale. Not good. Chicken fried steak and gravy were good. Hashbrowns undercooked. Don’t get all the hype.

The food was excellent and well priced. It was much better than your typical diner, especially the hash browns. The portions were perfect and it has a great atmosphere. I highly recommend it! I had the Denver omelet with toast.

The Breakfast Nook — a Great Place to Eat in Coeur d’Alene It’s one of my most favorite times of the day — breakfast. In the Coeur d’Alene area we are lucky to have a couple of great places for breakfast. The Breakfast Nook is certainly one of them. For me great food(homemade), great service and cleanliness are essential. The Breakfast Nook rates a «10″ in every category. Daily Specials are excellent AND a good value. One of the keys to a great eatery is the day-to-day, hour-by-hour involvement by the owners and or a committed manager. At The Breakfast Nook the owners are there almost all the time — one in the dining room and one in the kitchen. The cleanliness and the food prep evidence their almost obsessive involvement of all aspects of the restaurant. A look behind and under the counter tells the tale. The menu choices are varied. They are open 6am to 2pm, Monday — Saturday and 7am to 2pm on Sunday. Some of my favorites on the menu are: the cinnamon roll, razor clam, eggs and toast and hash browns, the petite steak and eggs for breakfast. My wife likes the garden omelet. Razor Clam Breakfast The seafood here is as fresh as it gets. I’m an Alaskan and I insist on the freshest seafood. I’ve had crab, shrimp and razor clams within an hour of pulling them from the sea — the seafood at the Breakfast Nook is that fresh!!! Speaking of fresh, the hash browns are NEVER frozen and always fresh. Eggs are perfectly cooked to order. The omelets are light and fluffy and again, always made with all fresh ingredients. An important part of any dining experience is comfortable seating. The Breakfast Nook offers counter service, booths and table service. All three option have very comfortable seating and seats — well padded. The service is top-notch. Coffee and water seem to magically appear provided by a well trained, polite wait staff. Food is brought out promptly and fresh. It doesn’t sit under a heat lamp. Come to think of it, I don’t even think they have one. If most diners knew what goes on under the counters and in the kitchens of most restaurants they’d run from the establishment screaming and never return. I’m a clean freak, especially when it concerns what and where I eat. The Breakfast Nook is honestly the cleanest restaurant, including places the diners don’t see, I’ve ever seen. If you want a real treat try their crab omelet, often offered on the weekend — depending on the availability of the freshest crab. The quantity as well as the quality of the food served at The Breakfast Nook is legendary. The«petite» section of both the breakfast menu and the lunch menu are a welcome corner for those of us who frequently find ourselves overwhelmed with«too much.» A must try is the fish and chips — fresh, large portions of perfectly fried fish and great french fries — all non-greasy and great tasting. I gladly give The Breakfast Nook my highest rating!!! I know of a few restaurants that compare(fortunately two of them are in the Coeud d’Alene area), but none surpass this great eating establishment. I usually am there for breakfast but their lunch is equally wonderful.

One of my favorite places for breakfast. They very possibly have the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had; it’s huge, perfectly tenderized and seasoned, and the gravy on it is delicious. I always swap out the potatoes for their wonderfully light and fluffy pancakes. Service is always very good, they are awesome about bringing refills on soft drinks or coffee. Their omelettes are fantastic as well. But the thing that makes this place really stand out is it’s the only place I know of around here that knows how to make an actual Monte Cristo sandwich. It’s on their lunch menu, but I get it for breakfast too, just ask for a little bowl to put syrup in so you can dip it, its amazing.
