This place is bad. My friend and I drove all the way from the Garden of Gods there. I paid the fee for tasting. Let me tell you: it is true, that the tasting should be a drop of of liquor. But in such case, I expect to be given a fresh glass or at least a rinse in between the tastings. Adding LITERALLY2 drops to my glass, will not kill the taste of that 1 drop left there. My tasting were lesser of .5 ounce. And yes, Ive done enough tasting to know my ounce in the glass. At my 3rd taste I finally said it out loud: I think this would e my favorite. But I can still taste the previous wine in my glass. And I could bet, this was the owner I did not tip. I did not purchase. If ever in the area, I will avoid this place. And yes, the place was empty. Righteously so.

My girls and I came here during the BAG reunion in July for my bff’s birthday. The wine was great, the staff were great. It was a great time had by all and we all left feeling great.

I just love this winery. It’s small and quaint, but it never feels overcrowded. Staff is friendly, and it takes no time at all to get set up for a wine tasting or to check out with a slush. My bachelorette party hit up Starview, and it was likely the favorite of our trip. We were able to mingle easily with some of us at the tasting bar, some outside sitting under umbrellas, and others sitting inside getting some AC. The perfect weekend spot! Highly recommend!

Great winery and a must visit. Staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Enjoyed our tasting so much we ended up ordering a cheese plate and additional wine to enjoy out on their deck.

The wine and music were great. Of all the winery’s Chardonnays this one had the best. Excellent service all around.

My girlfriend and I spent a weekend in Southern Illinois visiting various wineries to which we’d never been. StarView Vineyards was on this list. We ate lunch at the winery, choosing a sandwich and salad from the modest(but tasty) menu. We then did a complete tasting. We eventually each settled on a glass of sangria which was more than satisfying. We had a great experience, and we’d definitely go back if we’re out that way in the future.

Starview is one of my favorite vineyards on the Shawnee Wine Trail. On the day I visited their was a wedding or some such big party of people. This left only the tasting area available. That’s fine with me because I prefer to taste and then go outside to enjoy more. The wines were all very good and it took a while to decide on buying the Seyval. I think that’s a good sign. I like having to make a hard choice about which wine is my favorite. The staff were very polite and helpful. They talked with me about the different wines and really put some effort into helping me choose one that was right for me. Even as I type this I’m tempted to grab the chilled bottle of Seyval from my fridge and have a glass… even though it’s not even 9:00am. I can’t wait to visit this vineyard again on my next trip to Southern Illinois! You definitely shouldn’t pass this place up.

Nice winery with knowledgeable taste host(Steven). The tasting bar could use stools or at least a foot bar for comfort. This would make tasters feel less rushed at any location. Star View has a pleasant deck with large fans to help with Southern Illinois’ hideous giant flies, mosquitoes and humidity. Try the sangria slushy though nothing here helps make the inside tables/chairs more comfortable and they need Wi-Fi.

This place is great. Awesome wine, sangria and slushies! The people are all great and they warm up and feel just like family. Beautiful down home scenery. It’s not the fanciest winery around but the kind hearts and great wine won me over!

We stopped here during our wine trail tour vacation, and it was probably our favorite! It was a Friday afternoon and the girl doing tastings was so friendly! She let us taste most all of their sweet wines at no charge. We tended to like the sweet/semi sweet wines. We ended up buying about 4 bottles… And now that we find they don’t sell/shop their wines to Missouri, wish we bought MORE! :D The view from the deck was amazing and peaceful and they let us bring our picnic basket out there and relax. I do recommend their sangria, it tasted great on an October afternoon! We will definitely stop back in and stock up next time we come for vacation!

Wine Slushy? Yes, Please! My little sister took my mom and I here one hot, sticky, humid, gross summer day while we were visiting from the«city» aka Chicago. Well, I cannot say I was disappointed. I haven’t been on the wine trail here, in fact, this is my first winery in Southern Illinois, but it was perfect. I couldn’t imagine coming up a dirt road after hitting up the local Rural King in Carbondale to anything less than a winery with their special wine displayed as the«Wine Slushy.» That wasn’t even the best part! It was so relaxing just sitting outside on the back deck in the shade sipping a wine slushy while looking out over a small pond and the vineyards. I noticed they serve food, but the slushy is all we had… and I don’t regret it.

I went on a road trip to Memphis recently and I knew Southern Illinois had a few wineries, though I learned it’s more than a few… they have an entire wine trail! Yes, this is going to be a trip of it’s own in the future… Anyway, we’re passing signs along 57 and I knew our return trip would be visitng just one so I said«That’s the one!» StarView… I liked the name, and the logo. Yeah, I pick my wineries like I pick my horses at the track I guess! So off to StarView we went… it looked like we pulled up to someone’s house. We walked inside to an empty tasting room but the girl waiting on us was friendly and just adorable. They have free tastings during the week — Score! At first she picked a few off the list, then we decided to just try them all!!! Minus the wine slushies, though we could try them if we wanted to. I ended up purchasing the«Red Giant» which is semi-dry. We sampled the mulled warm wine and it was made with this one. I also purchased the seasoning packet to make the mulled wine for a total of $ 20 even. I would say most of the wines here were tasty… the sangria too so if you’re heading out for one or ALL of the wineries, definitely stop here, this place is a charm.

Me: What kind of wine are you guys known for here? Worker: Our wine slushies. Instant love! Don’t hate on the wine slushies, you wine-o’s! You’re in Southern Illinois, so woman up and down a large glass of that stuff.

Customer service is not what I would expect of a winery. In addition, could not return my glass deposit on a credit card. I will not be back.

This is probably my favorite stop on the Southern Illinois Wine Trail. An incredibly charming building, a great patio, and a banquet room. The tasting room is friendly, and they are knowledgeable. There is a small café menu that is great. Some pulled pork, chicken salad and some other snacks. All great, I love the pasta salad. My good friends had their wedding here a few years ago. Now I can’t remember exactly what they prepared for the meal. Though prime rib(if I remember correctly), fresh awesome salads were great. The wines are great. It is a couple of bucks to taste everything. The wines available rotate. Though my favorite is the Riesling. Amazing. They also have a cooler with a few good micro brews. Always a nice touch for me. An awesome spot.

This is our favorite stop on the Shawnee Wine Trail. Blue Sky has a fancier setup, but Starview just seems more fun for us. Unlike most wineries, when you walk in the door here, you get a definite sense something fun is going on. The servers were all very friendly and good humored. The wine is typical of the area, but they also have gret sangria and wine slushes, so be sure and include these in your tasting. My guess is you’ll choose one of these instead of wine. There is also a respectable beer selection here, and a big deck out back were there were two big bachelorette parties going on and the good times vibe continued. Quite a few people ordered food and it looked pretty good.

I visited Star View Winery while hitting up the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail with some family from Southern Illinois… it was our last stop of the night and I was hoping it would be a good one. They had a band outside which was great… I liked the relaxing atmosphere of Star View. We did the tasting(5 for $ 1), but I wasn’t really digging many of the wines… I ended up getting a glass of the frozen Concord slushy thing which was pretty tasty. At a winery I expect some transfer of knowledge, how they make it, what’s in it, etc., but we got nothing. The person who gave us our tasting seemed completely uninterested and it was like he had better things to do than to help his customers. If there would have been a better customer service experience, I probably would have enjoyed this winery more.
