Golly I love fatty foods. I have been coming here for a few years now, and I really enjoy this place. I use to take my grandmother here all the time, because she loved the nostalgic 1950’s feel of it. It’s a great place with 50’s and sometimes 60’s music playing in the background. As for the food, it is pretty good. Just what you’d expect from a diner type place; hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, shakes, and other stuff. Good flavors without all the grease. I love the chili cheese fries because I am a fry nut. Service is okay. The servers I get are not very smiley and appear monotone. Also, you have to pay before you recieve your food. I don’t know why they started doing this, but it seems awkward. Plus, if I have no cash, I cannot leave a tip. Oh well I guess.

Excellent 50s diner, was passing by and had to pull in, Naz had the ¼ BBQ bacon cheeseburger and fries and a chocolate coke — and now it’s all gone It was that good What a cool find

GOOD food… sub par service(always has been) and they must really be hurting for business because now they charge for water??? I could see if you didn’t order food and just walked in for a water but as you’re eating… Oh and I’ve always felt they’re very pushy with the payment. They want you to pay your bill before you even get a table basically! How can I tip you when you haven’t even given me my shitty service yet!!? Didn’t get this water I paid for until AFTER my food arrived… the table next to us had that problem too! During this visit I was nervous to try the bathroom or ask for a to go box… wasn’t sure if I had the change it would cost! Don’t let your food quality slip or you’ll have no appeal at all!

Meh. I wasn’t impressed. I don’t know what the hype is about. I think people love this place mostly because of nostalgia. It’s been around for a really long time. Small little mom and pop feel. Your simple burgers, fries, and shakes. Not even salads here. Service wasn’t good. The waitress couldn’t answer questions, kept saying she was new. She didn’t get part of our order right. The place is kind of cramped. I personally wouldn’t choose to come here again. But my boyfriend likes it. I don’t know why!

Fat jacks is a decent burger joint. Waitress asked more questions than an end of the semester final. Feel like next time I go I should study beforehand. Fries are great and they give you a lot of them. I’m sure you couldn’t even stick a hair through my arteries they’re so clogged. Overall enjoyed my experience here.

If you’re hungry and on a budget, Fat Jack’s will not only satisfy your appetite but appease your wallet as well. I stumbled in for a late night bite while staying in Clovis recently and was surprised at how many people were inside and taking food to-go so close to closing. It was a good sign, and seemed to be a favorite among law enforcement in the area as well. From the outside, it looks like a small burger joint, but once you walk in, you’re face to face with some cool 50’s décor and super friendly wait-staff. If you don’t want to eat inside, you have the option of pulling up and eating from your car. The waitresses will go out, take your order and allow you to dine in the comforts of your own vehicle which is super convenient if you want to dress in your pajamas, but don’t want fast food. I went with their burger, fries and a root beer. Like I said, the portions were big and my burger was tasty. The fries were in a nice big heap and plenty of root beer filled my cup. I got all of this for little over $ 10, including tax. They don’t take tips on the card as those are cash only, so make sure you take that into consideration before dining. I’ll definitely be back to Fat Jack’s to try another one of their great burgers… or maybe even a corn dog!

I’ve driven past this place so many times and finally decided to try it out. Best decision I made that day. The interior could use some renovations and the bathroom is a nightmare but the food makes up for it. I ordered the philly steak and I finished every bite. So meaty and cheesy. Keep in mind they bring you A LOT of fries with your sandwich so you’ll definitely need a to go box if you’re not sharing. The server was nice and our order came out no more than 10 mins after placing the order. If you don’t even want to get out of your car because you’re still in your PJs or something you can park on the front and they’ll bring the order straight to your car. Themed restaurants like these are a breath of fresh air compared to every other restaurant I’ve been to in Fresno. I highly, highly recommend this place if you like burgers and fries.

Food and shakes are pretty good. I havent had a burger from this place in years but just recent i bought fries and a strawberry banana milkshake. It was exactly what i wanted and tasted better than i remembered. Their mozzarella sticks are the best I’ve ever had. Only reason why I gave 3 stars is because I do think their décor could be updated a bit. Still keep the same theme obviously but it’s a little dirty looking in there. Also, some of the waitresses shorts are way too short in my opinion. The last thing I want to see while eating is someone’s butt. Keep it classy and professional ladies!

If you come here and order something other than the burger and complain about the food, you’re doing it wrong. It’s all about the burgers and fries at Fat Jack’s. I patronize them as frequently as possible(harder now that I don’t live in Fresno any longer) and have since the days they had the sister location on Blackstone 20 years ago. My usual Saturday night thing was getting the combo with cheese after work. I was devastated when the location closed, but a few years later I luckily was living near the Clovis shop. I could resurrect my Saturday tradition. I now live in the Bay Area and only get back to Fresno 2 to 3 times a year but every trip finds me back at Fat Jack’s for lunch. I’ve probably visited the Shaw location 30 times and it’s heart-warming that the consistency of the food has not changed one bit since I first started eating here. The shoestring fries have always been cooked properly and seasoned well. They come out hot and perfect. It’s hard to share them and easy to hoard. The burger has crispy edges and is well balanced in flavor with the other ingredients– there’s nothing too much on the burger to upset the flavor. There’s also nothing exotic or unusual about it; one would say there’s nothing unique, but I say that the burger and fries are just executed so well they don’t need to be reinvented. Just a classic burger in a charming setting based on an old ‘50s diner/drive-in. Service is always friendly and fast, even though I come so infrequently that I never recognize the servers from trip to trip since they’re mostly college-aged girls and are probably onto other things by my next trip. Highly recommended whether you’re a local or just passing through. (Also, because I get tired of reading this kind of crap on other reviews, don’t go 5 minutes before a place closes and expect exceptional service or product. They’ve been working all day and are tired and want to go home, and they may not even have the best quality product left at that hour. You are being incredibly self-absorbed and arrogant if you roll into a place at 8:58 and they close at 9 and expect the moon. Get over yourself.)

One of my favorite burger joints in town. The exterior is more appealing than the interior. I hear countless rumors about the place being dirty But I just ignore them. Although I feel totally unhealthy eating there it’s just sooooOOOoo good. The strawberry lemonade stuff is the best. And the burgers are so yummy. And they give you enough fries to last a life time.

Love the fifties music and look. When I walked in, I was told to seat myself and given a menu. The staff take your cash/card right after you order and brings change/it back with the drink. I got the Fat Jack Cheeseburger; the bun was nicely toasted, it was nice-sized, the veggies were fresh(crunchy onions), and the thousand island sauce was good. The fries are like Dog House: shoestring fries with seasoning, but they don’t drown their fries in the seasoning here. Flavored Cokes are like Sonic, and you order in sizes(12, 20, or 32 oz.), no refills. So «Think It Over» and try it.

Traveling during the holidays it seems ive had a lot of Chinese food lately as that seems to be what’s reliably open. I wanted to change it up and previously failed on both the grilled cheese and bbq places(which were closed), and finally ended up here. 50s style drive up which you just dont see anymore. Got a bbq, bacon, onion ring burger with cheese and pickles plus a side of small fries. Burger had a good flavor profile(homage to the Carls Jr Western Bacon) though the patty was thin and a bit overcooked. The fries however were awesome. They were perfectly crisp and have this spice salt they use making them super savory. All that for about $ 10US is a solid price performance value. Not to mention theyre quick and efficient in both front and back of house.

I was told a lot about this place by my wife. And honesty, it delivers! The food was very great as well as the service and the prices! The theme presentation of the place could have been better though. The pictures and 50’s style décor are a good start, but the cardboard cutouts seem a bit cheap. It’s a small place though, so I understand. And the fact that there’s only one Fat Jack’s establishment all the way out in Fresno is a bit of a downer. But it’s a road trip worth taking for their great burgers! If you happen to live anywhere near or traveling through Fresno, that is. Definitely looking forward to going back there again :)
