I cannot understand all the rave reviews here. We had the ribs, pulled pork and chicken; they were all dry. The ribs were dry AND tough, the pulled pork was average and the chicken was dry and tasteless, except for the rub, which was ok. I’ve had lots of barbecue. This one didn’t measure up. By the way, we phoned in our order, and whoever answered said he was at «the restaurant» and would deliver the food to the hut. It was barely warm when we got it home(a 5 minute drive from the«hut»). Very disappointing, especially after all the great reviews.

The best BBQ on shoreline. My hubby agrees and he is from Texas, one of our nation’s great BBQ sources. Brisket, pulled porked, chicken… all of it is great! The guys and gals who work here are super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend :). I order for lunch but also have ordered large quantities for parties. Super affordable and delisch. Did I mention its the best? :). Oh, and they do take credit cards. Often these types of places don’t, but they do :)

Had them cater a party at our house the other day. All the guests really enjoyed the food. Ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, baked beans. Everything was delicious. And they delivered! Right on time. Would def do business with them again.

This seasonal food stand has great Ribs and really good Brisket and Burnt Ends. I can only think of a small handful of places in Connecticut that consistently do BBQ better. Just get there early for dinner, because they sell out fast on the weekends!

Food there is amazing, and cheap. Everything is so simple on the menu yet it is made to perfection. The owner is very friendly. Great place for a quick bite.

Last time we stopped they had no meat. Today even though their hours showed open they were closed. Too bad since the one time we did get the pulled pork it was awesome.

Got some ribs and coleslaw to go. I don’t know if the ribs were a result of end of the day(5:45 pm) leavings, but the ribs were by far the worst I’ve ever had. Cooked thoroughly dry and inedible. Coleslaw was tasteless except for loads of black pepper. Wished I hadn’t taken it to go so I could have returned it. Won’t be back.

Can’t wait for them to open for the season! Love the convenience and setup. The brisket is perfectly smoked. Pineapple chipotle sauce is awesome. Prices are lower than most quality BBQ spots I frequent. This is on my top 3BBQ picks for CT. I’m not a fan of mac n cheese or pork, so I’ll leave those for the rest to review.

BESTBRISKETANYPLACE! I don’t eat a lot of meat, so when I do, I don’t want to be disappointed. I had a sandwich at a Clinton festival recently, they provided food at a beach stand & it rocked! Husband who is a non-meat eater kept asking for bites :) Can’t wait for next summer to get a sandwich &bring it down to eat at the marina!

Heard this place was coming and waited for a long time to give it a try. Had a Brisket Sandwich. It was pretty good and I really liked the sauces but it was pricey for a sandwich and a small cup of slaw. Haven’t been back…

Try it! Simple menu — smoked pork, brisket, etc. Had the special of beef and pork tacos today. Wow! Topped with fresh tomatoes, red onions, and sweet slaw. I hope this becomes a regular addition to the menu. I didn’t see any side dishes available — chips or cole slaw might have been nice. Yes it’s a hut. You order and sit at a picnic table.

The wife and I stopped here on our way up to Rhode Island. We needed to do some more shopping so we made a stop at the Premier Outlets. We found some pretty good clothes at a good price but nothing to appetizing to fill our stomachs. We took a chance and followed the sign that said food which led us to this main street in town where by chance we came across the Meat Hut. I had the pulled pork, and my wife ordered the barbecued mac & cheese. The Mac & cheese was just ok. I know mac & cheese is the latest rave, but it still is a science and can’t be easily done. The pulled pork was not bad coming from a stand. This is certainly not the best bbq you are going to have in your life but it will get the job the done.

This is one of those«why didn’t I think of that?» businesses. Their formula is simple: — Create a tiny food truck specializing in only 5 – 6 items — Pick something normally not found in these parts(ie: BBQ) — Put everything at the busiest intersection in Clinton(Rt 1 and 81) — Overstuff the sandwiches for a fair price $ 7 — Throw in a bag of chips for that price And whamo that’s it. With that combination this business could take off. So how was their pulled pork? It was very good. I particularly liked that there were plenty of burnt ends. Maybe because it was the end of the day and they were scrapping the barrel. I love burnt ends. And the quantity of meat placed between two rolls was just right. Plus, the BBQ sauce was very good, albeit might have been store bought and sweeter than what I usually like. Now there will be redneck bozos who will say«Well I’m from the south and I know BBQ… blah blah blah.» They almost always come out of the woodwork whenever a new BBQ opens up north. All I can say to them is that CT has the highest per capita in the nation and with that comes a lot of disposable income. That means we can afford to travel A LOT. And many of those destinations happen to be down south. That includes myself who has visited my fair share of BBQ places below the Mason Dixon line(I’m familiar with all three styles: pork, beef, and chicken). The sandwich I had the Meat Hut can certainly hold its own against most BBQ places down south. Period. We really don’t need any Honey Boo Boos telling us what’s good and what’s not :-) We know.
