Of course we had to make a stop at Sanders while visiting back in Detroit. Sanders(and Morley’s, back in the day) are such staples of the area and make the best Chocolates and Candies you could possibly get your hands on. It would be easy to go crazy here, so be careful, or the sugar buzz will last forever. I recommend the Milk Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels.

Call it Sanders if you must, but it will always be Morleys to me. Every since its humble East Detroit beginnings. Wanted to get my oldest who lives out of state a made in Michigan gift box. A certain must have was the peanut butter block $ 8.50 And coconut clusters $ 8.00 Plus an assortment of hot fudge & individual servings of caramel dips. The big sale item today was, caramel pecan bloopers, yea bloopers regularly $ 15 for a 12 ounce bag on sale $ 3.95 They are also selling U of M &MSU bars for your fan. Do not miss the Unilocal check in like I did, one free small cone! Well staffed with helpful folks.

I love Morley’s! Chocolates galore! It’s way more than just a candy shop though. They sell bumpy cake(several flavors), ice cream, fudge, old school candy such as pixie sticks, and all manner of chocolate covered nuts, fruits and toffees. Even random stuff like a chocolate cat for $ 19.99. Aside from the gift shop portion, they have a glass window overlooking the actual chocolate factory! If you come on a weekday, you can watch the employees working a la that I Love Lucy episode where Lucy and Ethel spend a day working in the chocolate shop. You know the one! I know they offer tours here so that would be a fun thing to do with little ones. The bumpy cake ice cream here is one of my favorites! They also serve more traditional Midwestern ice cream flavors like Superman ice cream and Blue Moon. If you’re looking to buy a hostess gift or something to bring back to co-workers, you won’t be disappointed in the selection here. The hard part would be deciding what to buy. Employees have always been friendly. I definitely enjoy stopping by here if I’m in the area and craving something sweet.

Oops, I never filled in my review after the Unilocal!factory tour. Frankly, there is a reason that they have been in business for a million years* — they are really good at their job. It’s always fun to introduce a non-Michigan native to Sanders when they wonder why we’re so particular about our ice cream toppings. Vernors may be an acquired taste. Coney Islands may not be your cup of tea. But I’ve never seen anyone try Sanders Hot Fudge who didn’t become a convert. The Clinton Township location is worth the visit for the variety. Whatever your favorite was growing up, they have it here. If I’m being honest, I could take it or leave it on the tour. Their production line was clearly designed with production in mind rather than tour groups. So a lot of the interesting work that goes into making the chocolates is tough to see from the windowed corridor on one side. *approximately

Attended the awesome Unilocal!event here and WOW was it cool! My wife and daughter truly enjoyed the tour and getting see everything. Quite fascinating how it all is created when you see it live. All of the staff here were very friendly and ready to assist/answer questions. Workers creating candy were cool too and waived to us as we walked by. Their candy and chocolate are delicious. As is the ice cream. We definitely enjoyed our trip to the store at the end of tour and purchased several items. I thought the young lady behind the counter was extremely patient as we assembled our custom order of chocolates, taking the time to explain the varieties and options as well as cost implications as everything is based on weight. There is nothing like a solid treat of fresh milk chocolate :)

The Unilocal event here was fabulous and we want to thank the Unilocal staff for this. The tour was very interesting and the tour guide was excellent, The video was informative and taught me a lot about chocolate that I never knew. I always thought chocolate just grew on trees and all you had to do was add sugar. The discount we got from Unilocal helped buy a «bumpy cake» which we can’t wait to eat. Also interesting is that some of the Sanders ice cream will be supplied by Guernsey of Northville – great ice cream.

This is apparently THE place to get chocolates to woo anyone from Michigan. I ordered my friend a get well gift from Sanders online and it was delivered to her in a timely manner, ready for her when she got home from the hospital. She loved them, cried about them, and hopefully will eat all of them without sharing. They have beautiful gift baskets and boxes that get a lot of bang for the buck. I got her the Supreme Sampler Crate and it looked like enough chocolate to fend off a small army of kindergarteners AND their mom’s during their Aunt Flo’s monthly visit. I just hope my other Michigan friends never read this post and demand chocolates too.

I grew up selling Morley Candy for fundraisers in elementary school, when the chocolate taste and quality was absolutely amazing. Since I’ve gotten older, the quality of the chocolate has steadily decreased and prices gone up. I guess profit margins always eventually win out. On a positive note, they bought a number of the Sanders recipes a few years back and the Sanders Bumpy Cake still has the taste I remember from childhood. I recommend trying it at least once, I doubt you’ll regret it.

Another birthday has passed for me. And, as many times in the past, a Sanders chocolate fudge Bumpy Cake was presented in celebration. If you have never had one, Sanders fine chocolatiers continue to bake their famous cakes, described as a «rich chocolate cake with buttercream bumps and fudge icing». In addition to fine chocolates, Sanders also makes fudge and chocolate toppings for ice cream. A must for anyone in the Detroit area!

Great place to find all types of chocolate. The chocolate and service are both good.
