Not been happy the last several time. Ms. Mary’s had earned our business. Maybe a change in cooks, pancakes overdone on several occasions, same with Hashbrowns. Also realized that this place loves to nickel and dime you to death.

This review is based at this moment on servers. Walked here from Tuffy’s in 40 degree weather. After a recommendation from the owner of Tuffy’s. I walked in with my daughter we sat ourselves. About 3 – 5 minutes later a lady who was busing tables asked what we were drinking. She promptly brought the drinks and menus. We waited for about 15 maybe 20 minutes. A waitress passed by me none of them wore name tags so I’m not sure who it was I had a green breakfast menu and I specifically asked«I have a question, I’ve been here for a while this says breakfast is until 11 can I still order breakfast.?» She said yes of course. Our«waitress» comes and I order off of the same menu that was in my hand when I asked my question earlier. The waitress who I still don’t know her name because she did not say«hi I’m so and so» says you can’t order that because it’s after 11. My preteen who has no concept of time says well we have been waiting 30 mins.” I’m sure when they are hungry 15 – 20 mins feels like an eternity. The no name waitress snapped back and says«you haven’t been waiting 30 mins» apparently not knowing that this was a CHILD! She was curt finishing taking my order although she allowed me to order off of the green menu, she made me feel like I was in the wrong. I watch her approach the counter where orders are picked up and she is talking about me(the customer) to the other no name waitress whom I asked earlier if I could order breakfast. I watch their exchange both of them oblivious to how rude this is talking about a customer when they are RIGHTTHERE. A few moments pass by and the first no name waitress walks by and says«I’m sorry I thought you asked about breakfast» let me add that the influx in her tone was almost accusatory like I did something wrong. First let me say this was my first time here I don’t know the menus or the waitresses I still don’t know my waitresses name. I can’t believe that a big deal was made about a customer ordering from«the wrong menu». Here is a suggestion take them off the table before 11:30! Don’t make the customer who has never been here feel like a they did something wrong. I waited tables for 13 years, the customer is what counts! Make them comfortable, make them feel welcome, and if they receive misinformation apologize and then educate them nicely about the lay of the land in your diner. I had extremely high hopes for this place. But after being what felt like I was castes off the island. I won’t be returning. Food review: I ordered a half order French toast and side of hash browns well with grilled onions. French toast was the best thing they brought out. My hash browns were NOT well and my grilled onions were burnt. My daughter had the 2 egg 3 meat hash browns well breakfast nothing special her hash browns weren’t well either. Ham was dry and bacon was a good cut of bacon.

To begin with the waitress was the best. Second they have a couple of tables, so thoughs that are in a wheelchair, you can enjoy a meal here. Now for the meal, I had the Chicken Siciliano. Comes with two large tender, moist, and well cooked chicken breasts, and a side of pasta, which was slightly over cooked but the sauce was good, not over seasoned. The meal came with soup, salad or slaw, I had the Italian wedding soup, excellent. My wife had the half order stuffed cabbage which came with real mashed potatos and a tomato based gravy which was seasoned well also, she had the chicken noodle soup, she said her meal was very good as well. I also have to add the prices were very reasonable.

Love this place. Waitresses are awesome! All food is great, but breakfast is the bomb! If you prefer egg whites for your omlettes, no problem! Love it :)

Ordered hash browns well-done. They were so greasy it looked like they threw them in the deep fryer. I agree the bacon was good!

I always come to diners a little iffy but this one has me coming back. At first the large menu had me nervous, but I keep trying things and I haven’t found something that isn’t good yet! I love the large selections of soups and they are all pretty darn good. The quality and service is excellent every time. Nice and clean inside.

Breakfasts are outstanding too … a higher quality cut of bacon then you’ll find anywhere else and they cook it right, :). You can get American Fries(my personal favorites) and one of the few places I know that cooks ‘em well-done without having to be asked, :).

Another nice visit to this great neighborhood restaurant near Little Mack &15 Mile Road. 9 soups were on the white board today. Plenty of ‘Daily Specials’, a full menu. I stopped in with my dining partner this afternoon. I ordered their specialty omelette, I can’t remember the name exactly, but trust me — it was a good meal all around. Good omelette, good home fries, good toast. I was informed from across the table that their chicken –n– dumplings is better than Cracker Barrel’s, and the tapioca pudding is excellent as well. I sampled neither, nor am I a Cracker Barrel aficionado, so I guess we’ll just have to say it was an unsolicited response and I tend to believe it. Breakfast anytime, great prices for meals, definitely home-style cooking. Family atmosphere, with booth seating and counter service available. Great wait staff, friendly and attentive. Helpful Hint: persons of the female variety who are in the dating scene might want to stop in and check out the buff busboys. Just sayin’ …

Ashley is a fantastic server! She jokes around with us so much, and she really makes it worth coming back. The food is decent. I’ve had some delicious food and some that wasn’t great. I’ve had Chicken Pot Pie twice. Once it was phenomenal and the second time it was something to be desired. What this illustrates though, is that everything is homemade daily, which can lead to items tasting a bit differently on each visit. I recommend not ordering the BBQ Pork on Potato Skins. It wasn’t really as described and wasn’t very good. Perhaps if the name reflected the dish, I wouldn’t have ordered it to begin with… it should be called Pulled Pork & Sliced Potatoes with BBQ Sauce. I absolutely recommend ordering breakfast or soup, these are two things that are great every time, and they also have great bread baskets!

I as a rule never give out 5 stars, but I was close, my last visit the food was the same excellent food as always, but the service was the worse I ever experienced. My fiancé and I went at a different time than usual, didn’t have any waitress that we new. We were seated and waited, three other groups were seated after us and got there drinks and order taken before us. Maybe the owner wasn’t there, but it really changed my view, we had to ask for refills from other waitresses. If it was not for the past fantastic experiences this would have been 3 stars

Very friendly staff! No wait time. The menu is several pages long. I don’t particular like when restaurants have a big menu. I never know what they specialize in. Even the specials menu is a few pages long. Staff definitely knows all the menu though! Fresh homemade soups available everyday! I ordered potato pancakes, full order. They were all the same size so I imagine they frozen. Still delicious. Not greasy and the onions added a nice flavor to them. What I love about Hometown Grill is the low prices! Its what brings me back every time!
