Dolce Gelato Cafe

My friend who lives in the area took me to this place today and I am happy he did. It appears to be a hidden gem in a bit of a run down old strip mall in Clinton Township. You walk in and you are greeted with the sight of delicious gelato. The employees immediately greet you and offer you tastes before you select your final flavor. I got the raspberry mixed with another flavor that I can’t remember the name of, but it had cake, chocolate, and was delicious. I got the yellow cup (medium size), but probably should have gotten the green cup (small size). Behind the gelato part of the store, it is a little interesting. There are three video poker machines on the way to the bathroom with random people playing on the machines and there were a few older men enjoying a soccer game on the TV in the sitting area. They also offer desserts, cappuccino, and other random snacks. They are open long hours and I couldn’t help but think that they could be doing so much more here… redesign the lobby space, offer Wi-​Fi, and they would be giving local Starbucks a run for their money. If the owner is reading this, the Dominos that went out of business next door would be a great place for your new seating area ;) I would gladly make the trip to study here several times a week if there were better seating facilities and more food options.

Brought my Mom and Aunt to this place to try out (they’ve never had gelato before). Since it was a last minute thing I was praying they had fresh gelato (not like some other places that have like almost no gelato left). Luckily, they did have fresh and a great selection of flavors. We tried the hazelnut, strawberry cheesecake, and pistachio gelato. All the flavors tasted wonderful and especially the pistachio. The pistachio at other gelato places can taste more like almonds at other places but at Dolce Gelato Café it tasted like Pistachio!
Overall, a great experience and a decent price.

After going to Italy, I fell in love with gelato, and I literally survived a few days on gelato. When I got back to Michigan one of the first thing I did was looking for a gelato place.
The atmosphere of this place is not the greatest, but if you are looking for the most amazing Gelato in Michigan, you should visit this place. I love all of their flavors; however, the pistachio flavor is fabulous. The servers are very welcoming and nice.

The cassata cake gelato is out of this world along with the pistachio!!!

If you love Gelato or want to go back to your Italian roots, then check this awesome place out.
The atmosphere is Italian, Italian, Italian and I love it, since I am Italian myself! They have a large selection of fresh geltao from fruity to rich chocolate and everything in between. The staff is very friendly and patient and they let you sample each one as many times as you want so you make the right decision, which can be hard because they are so good. But, do not worry, you can always do half and half or 3 scoops of 3 different kinds… etc. The servings are generous and they offer a variety of scoops and sizes.
Besides geltao they have a bakery with cakes, cannolis, cookies, and other treats for your sweet tooth. They also have fresh coffee and other drinks. The Tvs are always playing sports and other news (in Italian of course) It’s very comforting. They also have a few tables where you can sit inside or outside and enjoy whatever treats you are going to gobble up.
I actually get very excited when we are on that side of town because I know we will be visiting for a nice, comforting treat.

Best authentic gelato in town! We’ve been going here for years, especially for the Nucciola gelato. A great fix when we miss the real gelato taste we get back in Sicilia!!!

Wish they had a store closer to where I live on the west side of Detroit. Their gelato is as good or better than what I’ve enjoyed in Sicily and Naples. Molto bravo!

Excellent! I took my children out for an afternoon treat, this was our first time trying gelato. Everyone loved it. So fresh and flavorful. The service was excellent as well. We will definitely return!

They have the best homemade gelato in the metro Detroit area. Plenty flavors to choose from.
The service wasn’t that great. My group ordered a few gelato’s as well as two cappucinos. We were given lukewarm cappuccinos. Seriously? I wish I had said something but they had a few customers waiting in line and we were in a hurry to get somewhere.
Besides that, I would have rated them five stars instead of four.
Hopefully next time they don’t disappoint.

Service was quick, but it was a week night so they weren’t busy at all. The gelato is all homemade and very tasty. We tried the chocolate, tiramisu, and nutella flavors. Very sweet but refreshing. Will definitely be going back to try their other flavors. They have a good selection of cakes in the back that I’m definitely going to try, too.

Great local Italian Café that serves delicious gelato and Italian parties!

Its Gelato is delicious! I didn’t taste any artifical flavor in it. everything taste so real and fresh! I really like its Hazelnut chocolate and rasberry flavor gelato. The reason why I didn’t give 5 stars here because the service. When i first walked in, there was NO ONE at the counter and the person who was serving gelato was not attentive and let other ppl cut in my line. But overall, the quality of gelato is excellent!

This is the best café around the service is perfect I would highly recommend to anyone in the mood for a nice expresso and gelato

This is a very important spot for my fiancé and I as it was the perfect first date place in the summer 2010, and has been a staple in out romantic celebrations since. This cozy café with patio chairs has an excellent assortment of real gelato, and they always have a new flavor to feature.
There are sometimes a few Italians hanging out on the patio but it is a very inviting place, legit gelato (a rarity), easy to locate, and certainly affordable. Everything you could want in a gelato shop you can find here.

I can only comment on the espresso, which was smooth, not too bitter, and had the perfect amount of amazingly wonderful crema.
The woman at the counter wasn’t very friendly, but who cares, the coffee was the whip.

This place is completly AWESOME! I never want to leave it, well at least not with out a quart of Gelato! And a cannoli! Oh yeah, my wifes review is a thousand times better than mine.

Ok, so I try not to hand out 5 stars for just anything, but the gelato at this place is nothing short of amazing. The best ice cream type treat anywhere around (and I’ve tried quite a few.) They have a ton of amazing flavors and I’ve never had anything that wasn’t fantastic. You won’t be disappointed. The girls that work here are so nice and are happy to mix flavors together for you and
let you try whatever you’d like. The highlights for me are banana, nutella, tiramisu, and white chocolate raspberry. They also have gelato cakes and cannoli here that are really delicious. Go there. Do it.

I really enjoyed Dolce Gelato Café.
The café truly reminds me of a gelato café one would find in Italy. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and certainly Italian. They had both classic and unique flavors of delicious gelato. I personally tried the Pistachio, Nutella, Coffee, and Cassata. All flavors were excellent, but the Cassata stood out with the chunks of cake throughout.
Dolce also sells gelato cakes, cassata cakes, croissants, and coffee beverages. The atmosphere is truly Italian with small tables to enjoy your gelato or espresso and Italian Serie A soccer on the TV.
Overall, a great experience. Mangia!
