I usually disregard the previous reviews but take into consideration the experiences of others. I decided to go to this pizzeria and boy I should have just avoided it. I order a slice with a friend of mine with garlic knots and the garlic knots tasted like they have been sitting on the counter for over a week. The pizza also tasted like it has been sitting there for awhile. However, instead of going and complaining to the man I believe is the owner John, I left instead and ordered a fresh pie from another pizzeria. I did not really want to go through what other reviewers have posted on here. Definitely it is a place people may want to avoid.

Terrible customer service and sub-par, bland food. I live around the corner and avoid coming here for several reasons. First time I ordered delivery I waited 1.5 hours. When I called to inquire, The owner John was short with me and told me he didn’t have a driver. I would have appreciated a phone call at some point alerting me and his attitude was absolutely unnecessary, especially considering how calm I was. Just this week I called 10 mins in advance to order a couple mushroom + onion slices. When I arrived he told me he «forgot» my order and only then did he make up the slices — not to mention the place was completely empty. When I got to my car to check my order, the onions were large chunks that looked unbearable to eat. When I brought the pizza back, I requested sliced onions and he told me «this is the way we slice our onions» and made no real effort to accommodate my request for thinner onions. When he finally did, he gave me an attitude and told me he makes enough $ to pay his rent, etc and that he knows what he’s doing — all with a major chip on his shoulder. He also told me not to come back. Just plain rude. John lacks any customer service skills and is beyond arrogant. His inability to listen to his customers or receive constructive criticism will ultimately end up with this establishment closing. It’s already visibly empty a majority of the time. He ruined what was once a revered Clifton institution.

I teach in the neighborhood and visit San Remos for pizza very often. There is always a selection of fresh pies to choose from. My favorites are the buffalo chicken and the pepperoni. The restaurant is clean and the staff is courteous. I highly recommend the location for a quick bite or even a sit down dinner.

Place is crap. The owner John is rude, he has no staff and thinks he runs a billion dollar business. Good luck with his dead, empty, business. He needs all the luck he can have. I’ve never met someone so ignorant and arrogant in my life. He actually made me laugh. Place is DEAD and in a crappy neighborhood. I should have checked the Unilocal reviews before I walked into his outdated place.

I have been going here since I was a little girl and the food is still amazing. The baked ziti with ricotta cheese is always a favorite in my house. The penne with vodka is absolutely delicious as well. My husband loves their chicken Parmesan sandwich and my dad likes the chicken francese. The antipasto salad is alright, but the dressing is really good. The pizza, however, is just OK.

This place has been around forever. The wings are amazing. It’s authentic Italian food. This place is kept very clean. Only issue is that it’s pretty pricey!

Lousy food and worse attitude! San Remo was my go — to pizzeria since it first opened years ago. The sauce was great, as was the cheese. The entrees and sandwiches were also tasty, especially the chicken Franchese and veal parm. The new owner changed the sauce and the mozzarella. The sauce is thin and too sweet. The cheese is rubbery with no flavor. When asked politely why the sauce and cheese had been changed, the owner said nothing and pointed to the door to leave. The owner doesn’t want to hear anything, even when approached in an adult and professional way. He is rude and obnoxious. This place used to be packed every single night. There is a reason it is empty most of the time. My family won’t be going back, and I will let my friends know how bad the place has gotten.

The new owner is a complete ass. My mother ordered a pie for delivery. She paid, over the phone, with a credit card. The guy shows up about 40 minutes later, she signs, he goes on his way. About 10 minutes later he returns with another order. She didn’t order anything else. She checks the receipt and, sure enough, there’s her name and CC number. She calls the restaurant to make sure her card wasn’t charged for something she didn’t order. Instead of being apologetic and assuring her she wouldn’t be charged, what does the owner do? He curses my mother out! He’s calling her all kinds of names and keeps telling her he makes over $ 30,000 a week and doesn’t need her measly money. I take the phone and try and diffuse the situation. I get nothing but him telling me my mother is an idiot and I’m «too young»(I’m 26) to understand. Then he goes into the same speech about how much money he makes. The call ended with him threatening us and saying he had our address and would be there in 10 minutes. All because she wanted to let him know he charged someone else’s food to her card! He never showed. He struck me as one of those«too proud and perfect to make mistakes» type and seriously flipped his lid when we told him he had in fact made a mistake. His other mistake would be changing all of the recopies, because the food has been seriously sucking. Never ordered from here again after that night.

Yes, San remo’s is a Pizzeria, but what we discovered is that the dinners and appys are tasty too. Their fried calamari is the best around, it is light and crispy, never fishy tasting or greasy. Order the veal marsala and you will not be disappointed. The veal is tender, and the sauce is rich and buttery. Service is quick, and the manager is always present. Since it is a pizza joint, the ambiance is bright, and it can be loud. Overall, there is really good food coming out of the kitchen. Oh and the pizza is pretty good too.

I ordered one pie for delivery on Good Friday at 4:30. I expected it to be a long wait since that is a popular day for pizza. First I called when it was 6:00 and they said that it should be there soon. I called a second time at 6:30(now it is two hours) and the man on the phone claiming to be the owner was very rude and told me that it may be another hour! At this point I told him to forget about the pizza and he then claimed that he cannot get in contact with the driver. What BS! I ordered from another pizza place and got my pizza within 30 minutes. I will never order from this place again. Rude people on the phone and horrible customer service. BTW. They never even showed up to deliver the pizza!!!

Eh… it’s pizza. It gets the job done. It’s a little too greasy and generic. A plus, they do have other food on the menu worth trying — including the warm sandwhiches.

This was my new spot to order pizza in Clifton. I am on this vegetable pizza kick(I think I am trying to convince myself it is pizza that is good for you) and they have a Vegetable Primavera. I ordered it again this weekend and had it delivered. That was a mistake because by the time it got to me the middle was soggy. I didn’t have that problem before when I picked it up. Due to this not so happy pizza moment, I will be branching out to discover other veggie pizzas in the area.
